Civil servants must maintain their service integrity to justify the recognition and confidence accorded them by the government through salary adjustments under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), urges Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking at a monthly gathering with staff of the Prime Minister's Department in Putrajaya Monday (May 6), the Prime Minister said civil servants should identify individuals who tarnish the reputation of the civil service.

00:00If we follow the usual economic theory,
00:05all the increases in wages will be taken care of
00:09so that the economy will be more stable,
00:12which means less debt.
00:14But I see it from the point of view of the human nature,
00:19from the point of view of integrity,
00:23how can we burden the public officials
00:29with the mistakes that are not all their fault,
00:34sometimes from the point of view of management,
00:37from the point of view of the negligence of many other parties.
00:40So we should consider that,
00:43we should not be burdened,
00:45if we cannot be burdened,
00:47and there is our duty as a father
00:51in a large family,
00:53the government should consider
00:56why we took the bold decision.
01:00The discussion is in detail in the CKSN and KPPE,
01:05and in the KSP,
01:08we want to discuss how to give something that is really relieving.
01:16If we give little by little,
01:18it will be like giving alakadar.
01:21I know,
01:24because,
01:28maybe you will not mention it in front of me,
01:30but I know,
01:31it will increase by 0.5%,
01:34so I am complaining.
01:36So how can we increase it to the extent that
01:40we can give the confidence that
01:42the leadership of the civil government is serious
01:46to really find the best way to help.
01:53So that is why we increased it by 15%.
01:58And for the lower categories,
02:00the increase is much higher,
02:0220% and 30%.
02:06Some people challenged me not to announce it in detail,
02:09I cannot because there is a process.
02:11The principle we can announce,
02:13but the small details,
02:15we have to inform the Ministerial Committee first.
02:21It means that it has not been announced yet.
02:23It is really confusing.
02:27It means that it has not been announced yet.
02:29Adam has said,
02:30who knows if the parliament does not pass.
02:34I want to ask,
02:35which parliament members want to oppose this?
02:39Even if they oppose,
02:41God willing,
02:42there is PH, BN, GPS, JRS,
02:45the majority is still 2 out of 3, God willing.
02:51To pass the provision to increase,
02:56to study the new legislation system,
02:58I said in style,
03:00I do not want to increase it to a small majority.
03:02Let the parliament members have confidence
03:05that they have confidence and trust
03:08in the efforts and leadership of the civil government.
03:12That is one.
03:14But in this legislation system,
03:16we study it comprehensively.
03:19If in school,
03:22maybe 90% of the teachers are responsible,
03:27but there are teachers who try.
03:30There are some who are not present.
03:33The same goes for the problem in the office.
03:37There are small groups who are rude,
03:40do not come to work.
03:42Various problems.
03:43Do we have to provide the same service
03:46to small groups?
03:47I think some say not up to 5%.
03:51My answer is no.
03:53We will not provide the same service.
03:55So, I ask,
03:56while we provide a somewhat radical suggestion
04:00from myself,
04:02to provide recognition and compensation
04:06to civil servants,
04:07I ask for support
04:09to supervise the office itself
04:12and its members
04:14so that they are recognized
04:16as those who have damaged
04:18the reputation of civil servants.
