The Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) and enforcement agencies must take concerted, serious action to curb the spread of deviant teachings, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a meeting with Jakim on Tuesday (Sept 24), the Prime Minister said questions were raised on the line of thought that deviated from the belief of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

00:34The meeting came on the heels of the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings G-I-S-B
00:40scandal following allegations of widespread misconduct and sexual abuse against children
00:46at its welfare homes.
00:48Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Dr. Mohamad Naeem Mokhtar had said that JAKIM has prepared
00:53a special paper on G-I-S-B's doctrine to be presented to the Islamic Religious Affairs
00:59Muzakarah Committee.
01:01The Muzakarah Committee is holding a three-day meeting to discuss the issue.
01:07G-I-S-B has roots in the Al-Arqam religious sect, which was outlawed by the government
