00:00 Hi guys, Jordan Warren here from the Illawarra Mercury Sport Team.
00:03 Despite the fact it was a wet weekend, plenty of sport went ahead across Saturday and Sunday
00:07 across muddy fields in the region.
00:09 Of course on Saturday we had the Illawarra Rugby competition.
00:12 The Shamrocks got up 65-0 against their rivals the Vikings which was the first win of the
00:17 2024 season for Paul Ridgeway's side.
00:20 In Illawarra Rugby League, of course we saw West defeat Coromel which was a bounce back
00:24 from their previous loss, last round I should say, previous loss against De La Salle.
00:28 So a good bounce back there from Pete McLeod's side.
00:31 Of course on Saturday night we saw a phenomenal story for Illawarra's female football stars.
00:36 They got up for Sydney FC in the A-League Women's Grand Final.
00:39 1-0 Sydney FC over Melbourne City at Amy Park.
00:42 Of course, Vigtree Junior, Mackenzie Hawksby picked up player of the match in the game.
00:46 And an absolutely sensational story, 16-year-old Shel Harbour Junior, Indiana DeSantis providing
00:51 a key assist in that Grand Final, the winning goal.
00:54 The assist for the winning goal in that Grand Final.
00:56 It's her second A-League Championship in two years and she's only 16.
01:00 She's spending today celebrating at school, so good on you Indiana.
01:03 And then of course on Sunday we had a couple of games.
01:06 We had the Wolves, they were at Ian McClennan Park, 5-1 they got up against the Central
01:10 Coast Mariners.
01:11 And of course in Group 7, Gerringong remained unbeaten, the defending premiers, and they
01:15 remain unbeaten with a win against Jamboree.
01:17 So that sets up a massive game next week against Worilla, Lake South Gorillas.
01:22 Of course Worilla were the 2022 champions, they beat Gerringong in that decider, so look
01:26 out for that one this weekend.
