00:00 G'day sports fans it is Monday, fun day in the Mercury Sports Office. I'm Mitch
00:04 Jennings, I'm joined by Jordan Warren. A massive weekend in sport as always.
00:09 Rabbs, with footy season kicking off, all the respective balls are rolling but it's
00:14 whips cracking time in the cricket. Some silverware's being given out, another
00:17 season in the bank. You're our cricket guru mate, what's happened over the
00:20 weekend? I don't know about cricket guru but yes I was definitely across it. But yeah a
00:23 couple of grand final wins in the cricket over the weekend. In Cricket
00:26 Lawara, Kira got the win in their grand final over University, Blake and Ryan
00:30 Cattle, of course the brother duo, starting that one. And then in South
00:33 Coast cricket, Lakeya Lawara, they always win against, and they won this time
00:37 against Berri-Sholabin heads of course. Berri-Sholabin won the minor
00:40 premiership, a great season for Berri but in the end Lakeya Lawara were just too
00:43 good coming home with a comprehensive victory in South Coast cricket. But
00:46 obviously Jeno, there was the Dragons, another capitulation there. Yeah an
00:50 interesting one, we've seen the best and worst of the Dragons already within a
00:53 couple of rounds. Obviously that first up win against the Titans probably
00:56 hasn't aged very well, Rabbs, given the way the Titans went against the
00:59 Bulldogs in that earlier game on Saturday. I actually thought we saw for a
01:04 moment there the best football the Dragons have done with the ball under
01:07 Shane Flanagan, probably for the best part of the season, that nine-minute and
01:10 blitz with a couple of tries there. But I wrote in my copy that the
01:13 Dragons were a bit like the party pies in the Cogra media box. They were piping hot
01:17 to start, stone cold by half time and at full time you couldn't give them away.
01:20 It was an interesting one. I still think it's gonna take a little
01:24 while to see where they really land in this Shane Flanagan regime. But giving up
01:27 80 plus points in two games, certainly not something that Shane Flanagan's
01:31 ever made his bones on as a coach and certainly not anything he wants
01:35 the Dragons to be doing. He's a bit of the bad old Dragon. So they've got Manly coming
01:38 down to Wollongong this weekend. It's been a graveyard for visiting Manly
01:41 teams, they really struggle to win in Wollongong. So hopefully that can be a
01:44 factor in the Dragons can get back on track. But yeah, plenty to say. I still
01:48 think we're going to take another month or more just to see how this Shane
01:52 Flanagan regime is sitting there at the Dragons. But we've got all manner of
01:55 footballs going around, including the round ball game. You are our expert in the
01:59 round ball game. Plenty happening, IPL Wolves. What happened over the weekend?
02:02 Yeah, plenty happening over the weekend in the football of course for up to the
02:06 first month of the season in the IPL and the District League. The Wollongong
02:09 Wolves, unfortunately, they were flying high early in the NPL season but they
02:13 went down to the Western Sydney Wanderers in front of a home crowd at
02:17 Wynn Stadium on Sunday 2-0. So the Wolves were brought back down to earth
02:20 unfortunately and hopefully they can bounce back with a win next week against
02:23 Sydney Olympic. And yeah, in the IPL a couple of big wins. There was Wollongong
02:26 United got up, Wollongong Olympic top of the table 4-4. So a good start
02:30 from them. And then of course in the District League, the defending grand
02:33 final champions Fernhill had a thrashing 7-0 win against University. So yeah,
02:38 it's all happening in the round ball game. Absolutely ebbs and flows, highs
02:41 and lows. That's why party pies in the Cogger and media box. That's why you and I
02:44 love what we do so much. It's where you want to head over to the Illawarra
02:48 Mercury Sport website to see all the ups and downs, all the ebbs and flows, all the
02:52 news, views, analysis and everything that matters in between. We'll check back in
