00:00 Miami gets that commitment from six foot two, 200 pound Houston wide receiver Sam Brown,
00:07 who should add another cherry on top of that Sunday that is the Miami offense.
00:12 We are joined by, and folks, you've probably seen Jeremy Marks-Peltz,
00:16 you know him as JMP, you've seen his work all over social media,
00:20 does awesome film breakdowns of recruits, Miami players, Miami targets.
00:25 JMP is nice enough to join us.
00:27 So JMP, I know that like me, you've been scrambling trying to put out content the last couple of days.
00:32 I mean, they're doing it, they're doing this to us on a weekend, JMP.
00:35 We're trying to keep up with all these transfers.
00:37 How are you?
00:37 I'm good, Alex.
00:39 Yeah, crazy weekend.
00:41 And I'll tell you, normally Mondays, we all know case of the Mondays,
00:45 a little sluggish going back in.
00:46 But between the crazy weekend, the portal bonanza, and then hearing you do the welcome to the U,
00:55 like this is the most pumped I've been for a Monday in quite some time, Alex.
01:00 You're so right, man.
01:02 And that's why like usually I'll start a Monday episode,
01:04 happy Monday if there is such a thing.
01:06 But it's a happy Monday for maybe not for Florida State fans as much,
01:10 but it's a happy Monday for Miami fans today.
01:13 So JMP, let's talk Sam Brown.
01:16 So the first thing, and you notice this with a handful of the players
01:19 that Miami has been adding right now.
01:21 In fact, all three of the Sunday commits were players who have previous relationships
01:27 with current Miami coaches.
01:28 And in the case of Brown, two years ago where he had his breakout season at Houston,
01:34 was with Shannon Dawson as his offensive coordinator.
01:38 What does the film tell you about Brown and how he's going to fit in
01:41 in Shannon Dawson's Miami offense?
01:43 Yeah, and just to your point, one of the things that I really like about that
01:50 connection with Shannon Dawson is I think not only can Shannon Dawson tell you what kind of player
01:57 and what kind of person and what kind of program fit Sam Brown is, but also scheme fit.
02:03 Because it's a similar air raid offense, not the identical air raid that they ran in Houston,
02:11 but it's similar.
02:13 So he can project how Sam Brown fits within this offense.
02:17 But I mean, this is a guy that at the very least, I think is an interchangeable part
02:24 with a guy like Jacoby George, Xavier Restrepo.
02:27 I'm not saying he is on Restrepo's level, maybe even Jacoby George's level,
02:33 but he's got inside outside versatility.
02:37 Saw him win in the slot, saw him win as an X receiver, which we know that was something
02:43 that whether that was Isaiah Horton or something that they were looking for in the portal.
02:47 Brown's not like a pure big body X receiver ball winner, but he has won there.
02:54 He's won as a flanker, so you can put them all over the field.
02:58 And I watched the Texas tape was the one that I really looked at.
03:04 Four catches, 80 yards, had really an electric 50 plus yard catch and run, where you saw the,
03:12 allegedly he's got four, four speeds.
03:14 So you saw the open field speed, the ability to make guys miss the twitch opportunity.
03:19 I think he's got some places to grow.
03:23 He did.
03:24 I had him for two drops in that game, including actually the first, I believe it was the first
03:29 play that Houston ran.
03:30 It was a deep shot.
03:31 Ball was under thrown, but he went up, tried to body catch it, couldn't bring it down to
03:36 his body.
03:37 So some things that certainly he can still work on, but I just think he is a seamless fit.
03:43 I like the idea, Alex, of kind of interchangeable parts in this air raid offense, where you
03:49 have different, you can put guys in different places along the formation.
03:53 And ultimately a lot of these concepts are to just get receivers open, whether it's winning
03:58 matchups or just get them in space.
04:00 And Sam Brown, I think is, you know, a perfect fit to do that.
