00:00 Alderman, six foot one, 230 pounds, started all 13 games for Louisville last season.
00:06 58 tackles in total, seven tackles for loss, seven and a half sacks last season. And keep in mind,
00:13 this is someone who started all season long last year on a defense that was statistically better
00:19 than Miami. So that should tell you something. And again, he may or may not start at Miami,
00:24 but started every game on a defense that was ranked 37th in the nation last year at Louisville,
00:30 whereas Miami's defense, the overall ranking was 49th. Shout out to the guys at Kane's Insight for
00:35 pointing out that stat. I didn't look that up for myself. I read off their notes on the little cheat
00:40 sheet there. Jalen Alderman played over 600 snaps last season. He's got two years of eligibility
00:46 left. And so here's how I see things looking for this coming season at linebacker. I expect Miami's
00:56 top four linebacker rotation, because remember, last year you had a bunch of guys play, including
01:02 Corey Flagg played a lot. He left Miami in the transfer portal. KJ Cloyd, who was another former
01:06 Louisville transfer. Thank you, D-Nick, for that one. Cloyd played a lot last year. He ran out of
01:11 eligibility, okay? In addition to Besaint and of course, Kiko Maui-Noah was the man last year. So
01:17 you had several linebackers get playing time last season. It was more than four, to be honest. But
01:22 I expect Miami's top four linebacker rotation this year to be Kiko Maui-Noah, definitely starting.
01:28 He was arguably the best player on the team, at least the best defensive player last year. No
01:33 disrespect to Reuben Bain. Kiko was just awesome. Kiko's going to start. I could see Besaint
01:39 probably starting. I mean, Wesley Besaint was so good during spring football. That guy is really
01:44 taking steps and strides heading into his third year. Now, the thing is, I can't guarantee you
01:50 that Besaint will start or Alderman will start, because until I actually watch these guys in the
01:55 same practices, which is going to happen in fall camp in a couple of months, I'll give you a better
01:59 idea of who I think is going to start. But I don't see any reason why Wesley Besaint wouldn't start
02:03 because he's on such an upward trajectory. But then Louisville fans will probably say, "Well,
02:08 hey, Alderman was really good for us last year, started every game." So I think that could be an
02:12 awesome competition. And Popo Aguirre, I expect to be another prominent part of that top rotation at
02:18 linebacker. Popo, heading into his second year, had a really good spring camp and showed some
02:24 good signs for Miami as a true freshman last year. I'm not sleeping on Marcellus Pulliam either.
02:28 I loved what I saw throughout spring football from freshman Bobby Pruitt. He's a true freshman
02:35 this year, so he'll probably get on the field some. Same thing for Adarius Hayes,
02:39 who's a true freshman. So those guys will probably get some playing time, but you don't have to rely
02:44 on as many young players for prominent roles in the rotation.
