Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes became the fastest quarterback to throw for 100 touchdown passes and upped his total on the season to 25 TDs with just one interception, in yet another Chiefs win. Sports Illustrated host Robin Lundberg explains how Mahomes should be the NFL MVP, even if dubbing him the top player in the league is kind of like what the rest of his career will be, a broken record.

00:00Patrick Mahomes should be the NFL MVP.
00:07Don't we all know this by now?
00:09I mean, there are some incredible seasons being had,
00:11particularly by other all-time great quarterbacks.
00:14Russell Wilson is on pace to throw for more touchdowns
00:16than any QB ever has, and Aaron Rodgers
00:18is currently having one of his best seasons ever.
00:21I fully understand wanting to acknowledge
00:23and appreciate the achievements of each,
00:26but Mahomes has reached that LeBron James status for me,
00:30where if he is out there and fully healthy,
00:32he's my default MVP, which just so happens
00:35to be easily backed up statistically.
00:38He's the first player in NFL history
00:39to have 25 touchdown passes to only one interception
00:42through nine games in a season,
00:44and he's right near the top of every other leaderboard,
00:47sporting a QBR of 87, a rating of 116,
00:50and throwing for 300 yards a game.
00:52Not to mention, the Kansas City Chiefs are 8-1.
00:55Plus, it feels like Mahomes is just warming up,
00:58and he certainly doesn't have any flat-out bad games
01:01like, say, Rodgers did against the Bucs.
01:03His coach Andy Reid says we're seeing his best right now,
01:06and at his best, there's never been anyone better.
01:10So I'm not gonna pretend anyone else is more valuable
01:13and become numb to the standard he's already set,
01:16as declaring Patrick Mahomes the top player in the NFL
01:18is eventually gonna sound a lot like
01:20what the rest of his career will be, a broken record.
