00:00We're at the win by point of the NFL season, joining me to give his first half impressions,
00:05Joshua Briscoe, editor-in-chief and publisher of ArrowheadReport.com.
00:10Josh, what are your impressions so far of the Kansas City Chiefs through the first part
00:15of the season?
00:16I think throughout this first half, there's an easy storyline on both sides of the ball.
00:20I'm all about the easy storylines.
00:22Starting with the defense, I mean, that was the thing we had the most questions about
00:25coming into this year, obviously.
00:26I think that maybe the biggest storyline or the biggest positive surprise anywhere
00:30on the team is the pass defense has been really, really excellent, even without the pass rush
00:36being dominant, which is a little bit of a brain teaser, because that's what the Chiefs
00:40have invested so heavily.
00:41Frank Clark, Chris Jones, obviously.
00:42There have been some injury issues and, you know, the offensive lines pay a lot of attention
00:46to them.
00:47So some of that blame could probably get shifted out to the other guys on that line.
00:50There's been a ton of other injuries outside of Jones and Clark on that defensive front.
00:56But they've gotten enough pressure with the pass rush, you know, with some creative blitzes
00:59and whatnot.
01:00But really, the secondary, Tyron Matthew, Juan Thornhill, Dan Sorensen, Javarius Ward,
01:05Bashad Breeland, LeJarius Sneed, pre-injury, Rashad Fenton, I mean, those are all names
01:09that we've gotten very, very familiar with around here, because that unit has been so
01:13excellent.
01:14So that's probably the biggest positive storyline and certainly the biggest positive storyline
01:18from the defensive side.
01:19Offensively, I feel like we're in a place we've actually kind of been before, at least
01:22for a lot of last year.
01:24The offense is really, really, really good, and it's been at absolute max capacity for
01:29like a few minutes this season, it seems.
01:31They dominated against the Jets, but it was the Jets.
01:34They had some miscues against the Panthers, but they got it figured out.
01:36They looked really good against the Broncos.
01:38They won on the ground against the Bills, because their linebackers were backpedaling
01:42at the snap and daring the Chiefs to run.
01:44So they did.
01:45So I think that seeing the team be able to take whatever the defense is offering, because
01:49the offense is so, so talented everywhere else.
01:52That's a great, that's a great thing for any offense to be able to actually take advantage
01:56of.
01:57They've been able to do that.
01:58And I think we probably haven't seen their best two or three game stretch.
02:02Also knowing Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and this team's goals in general, we're probably
02:06going to see that best stretch at the very end of the year.
02:09Josh joins me on today's episode of Roughing the Kicker to talk about his impressions and
02:14what we like about the Chiefs team moving forward.
