Tony Elliott comments on the performance of the Virginia offense line against Richmond.

00:00 >> So that's a learning opportunity, but overall with the offensive line,
00:03 thought they protected really well for the most part.
00:05 We did get ready to hit a couple times, gave up one sack, but
00:09 the times that we got them hit, it was more missed assignments on the back end,
00:13 running back being too fast, things of that nature.
00:16 I think it took them a little while to kind of get settled in, in the run game,
00:19 but once they had some success, they were able to establish a run game.
00:23 Still got a lot of work to do, you think about it, Devine first start,
00:27 I think Taylor's first start, Fernandes first start.
00:31 So it was a bunch of first time starts and was hoping to get some young guys in
00:35 there, was hoping to play a lot more people to be honest with you.
00:38 And I felt like we came out in the second half and took care of business in those
00:42 first two drives and defense settled in, we would have had a chance to play some
00:46 guys, but man, we're looking here, it's a tighter ball game than we wanted to be.
00:52 And we just, we put the defense, offensively put the defense in some bad
00:55 spots right there in the second half, but overall pleased with their effort.
00:59 I think the guys up front tried hard, technically we got some things to
01:03 improve, but it was good for them to get that work together, have some success.
01:07 But then also see tons of opportunity to improve.
01:10 >> Where would you evaluate Bolli, where he's at, and
01:13 do you have an update on Leach?
01:14 >> Yeah, so starting with Leach, Leach was available last week from
01:19 an emergency standpoint, cuz he had gotten the stitches out of his hand,
01:23 he could play with a cast, and this week he's back in practice.
01:26 So I'm excited to finish up here and then go back and
01:30 watch practice and see how he did.
01:32 But talking to him, coming off the field, said he felt good,
01:35 said the cast that he was in made his hand still very functional for him.
01:39 So we anticipate that he'll be ready to be in the rotation and
01:44 kinda see where his conditioning is by the end of the week to determine
01:48 the breakdown.
01:48 And Bolli is physically gifted as a young guy,
01:53 we just gotta pull him through the knothole at times of being a freshman.
01:57 Sometimes a freshman's like, man, I just wanna be a freshman.
02:01 But hey, buddy, you're starting with a tackle.
02:04 You don't have time to be a freshman, you gotta be ready to go.
02:08 And so coaching him through that and being able to get him to stay locked in
02:14 the entire practice, the entire game, he's still a young guy.
02:18 But he cares, he wants to, he just has to mentally be able to push himself.
