00:00 Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen,
00:04 please welcome back to the history books,
00:07 Union Baseball, All-State Union, and Wimbledon Service
00:11 Championship, number 11, Ryan Zellweger.
00:15 [CHEERING]
00:28 [INAUDIBLE]
00:31 I just want to take a quick second
00:38 to thank everyone for having us here tonight
00:41 and giving me this huge honor.
00:43 Coach Moen is here.
00:45 He was my first coach here in the program, too.
00:48 And now he's my coach.
00:52 Thanks to the UVA Athletic Foundation, Carla,
00:56 the whole university for honoring me this way.
01:01 It's very humbling.
01:04 It's been almost 20 years since I came here.
01:08 I also saw a video.
01:11 She said, dad, is that you?
01:15 I used to be OK.
01:18 But Sarasota is a special place to me.
01:21 I think I keep trying to come back here as much as I can,
01:25 stay involved in the community.
01:27 And I think college sports is fun because these kids
01:31 and those kids over there, I'm sure it's the same thing.
01:34 You interact with the community.
01:36 You're a part of Charlottesville, Blacksburg.
01:41 And a lot of you guys that are here tonight
01:43 probably were sitting in those seats.
01:46 Well, those seats are way nicer than the ones
01:48 you're sitting in when you watch me play.
01:50 [LAUGHTER]
01:52 But that's the cool thing about college sports.
01:56 And the three years that I was here,
01:59 I grew as a baseball player.
02:02 But I think obviously I grew as a person.
02:05 So yeah, I just wanted to say thank you.
02:14 This is a huge honor.
02:16 Me and my family are very humbled.
02:19 And my parents, they drove me everywhere.
02:22 [APPLAUSE]
02:25 I was very badly treated at high school.
02:41 I had some San Jose schools, some North Carolina schools.
02:46 And then I played in a tournament out of Florida
02:49 that had a voicemail from Stevie when I got home.
02:55 And I said, well, I'm going to go play in ACC.
02:58 I might as well play against the best.
03:00 So Virginia kind of came in late.
03:04 And honestly, I wouldn't be here if I didn't go here.
03:10 [APPLAUSE]
03:13 [INAUDIBLE]
03:14 All of us.
03:18 Hopefully, what I've done, maybe they can come to Florida too.
03:22 [APPLAUSE]
03:25 It's going to be expensive.
03:27 [APPLAUSE]
03:30 But anyway, thank you guys so much.
03:33 Both you guys and both these teams,
03:36 enjoy the heck out of your time in college, man.
03:38 It's a pleasure.
03:39 Thank you.
03:40 Enjoy the heck out of your time in college, man.
03:43 It's the greatest time of your life.
03:46 Thank you guys so much.
03:49 [APPLAUSE]
03:52 Thank you, guys.
04:01 Let's welcome him to the ceremony for the first place.
04:04 [APPLAUSE]
04:08 [INAUDIBLE]
04:09 [APPLAUSE]
04:12 [INAUDIBLE]
04:15 [APPLAUSE]
04:17 Ladies and gentlemen, number one, the Maryland Mudders Junior.
04:24 [APPLAUSE]
04:26 Yeah, I mean, this is kind of where it all started, I guess.
04:30 So to come back and to have the ultimate honor,
04:33 and it's humbling.
04:35 I still keep in touch with so many of my teammates from here,
04:38 and obviously the coaches and just so many people
04:41 in the community here.
04:42 So Charlottesville is a special place to me.
04:45 To have something like this done for you is humbling.
