00:00 >> There's a lot of changeover obviously with your offensive line.
00:03 You kind of have the same guys in front of you for the last couple of years.
00:06 But now, how much of an emphasis are you placing on building chemistry with some
00:09 of the new guys you're gonna have in front of you?
00:11 >> Yeah, I mean, just being a vocal leader,
00:13 just making sure they're always working hard.
00:16 I need them, they need me, we need each other.
00:20 So it's just, we gotta push each other.
00:23 We gotta become better through the small things.
00:26 They're not gonna change overnight.
00:28 So I just need those guys just every day just come in ready to work and
00:32 just not take a day off.
00:33 I think that's just important.
00:35 If you don't take a day off, I think those things stack on each other day by day.
00:38 So I think that's very important with our line.
00:40 And those guys have been here.
00:43 It's not like they've been new.
00:44 It's just maybe not too much of experience as game experience.
00:47 So I'm not worried about them.
00:48 We're gonna take it day by day and we'll be fine.
00:52 We'll be fine.
00:53 >> What did you hope to accomplish on day one of 15 and
00:58 how close have you come recently?
01:00 >> Well, I wanted to accomplish the practice expectations.
01:04 And for me, as a head coach, it was just the little things.
01:07 Seeing the guys strain and push and mental toughness and
01:10 getting on and off the field, covering to the ball, just the little things.
01:14 And then the expectation of the coaches is coach the details,
01:17 coach the little things.
01:18 A scheme will take care of itself.
01:19 Obviously, there's gonna be some transition on both sides of the ball.
01:23 So I wasn't really worried about the scheme today.
01:25 Obviously, we got five days of installation.
01:27 So it's gonna compound, they're gonna make mistakes.
01:29 But I wanna see them push through mistakes.
01:31 I wanna see them develop that mental toughness.
01:34 Today's a little bit tough because we don't have no shoulder pads on, so
01:36 it's not as physical.
01:37 So I just wanted to see guys move around, be assignment sound,
01:40 be able to line up, know what they're doing.
01:41 But the biggest thing for me is just coaching the details and
01:44 the little things, and we got a lot of work to do.
01:46 >> And now, here you are.
01:47 So how excited are you to be back?
01:49 And what kind of impact do you think you can have this year?
01:52 >> I'm really excited to be back.
01:53 I'm happy.
01:54 It was a long journey, waiting, and
01:59 it made me grow as a player and everything.
02:01 And just for the future, I just wanna impact the team the best way I can.
02:07 Whatever the team needs, I wanna do whatever it takes to get it up,
02:11 to get wins, and just gel the team as tight as possible.
02:16 Cuz the best teams are the closest players, the players being tight,
02:21 those are the best teams.
02:23 So I'll just, whatever it takes to win, you know what I'm saying?
02:25 So, yeah.
02:26 >> What do you think of kind of his demeanor on the practice field?
02:29 >> Yeah, I mean, I saw him running around.
02:30 I saw him jumping into stuff, putting what do you call it,
02:32 one of those colored jerseys on when we were on offense.
02:34 He was jumping and playing at safety.
02:35 I saw some of that.
02:36 Yeah, I mean, it's cool.
02:38 I think that's awesome.
02:39 I think when he gets into it like that, it makes us players just enjoy playing for
02:43 him, and just seeing him out there give us energy.
02:46 And really push us as an offense and as a defense.
02:49 So what games are gonna be won out there?
02:51 That's what he kept saying.
02:52 And so with that mentality and with his energy,
02:56 I think it's gonna go a long way for our team.
02:57 >> How about having Lavelle back?
02:59 >> Yeah, it's great.
03:00 I mean, you just add another weapon to our arsenal.
03:02 Yeah, I mean, like I said, we got a lot of new offense stuff.
03:06 So we're diving into that, getting a lot of chemistry.
03:10 With certain things that we're trying to accomplish now,
03:11 it's just gonna take time.
03:13 Not worried about it.
03:14 I mean, we still have a lot of chemistry just by playing last year and
03:17 then me and Lavelle the year before.
03:18 So just being on the same page with how things time up.
03:22 It's kind of what we're working on.
