UVA kicker Will Bettridge talks following the game against Miami.
Transcript
00:00 >> That you're being sent back out there time and time again for the overtime.
00:03 >> Yeah, I mean, that's how I do my job.
00:06 I kept thinking I was gonna come down to a kick,
00:09 kind of being Andy Roach back and forth.
00:12 So I had to stay ready, stay close to the net cuz those last two in overtime were
00:17 a minute apart, I don't even know, but definitely had to stay ready,
00:20 keep my leg warm.
00:21 >> For you to have a game like this after what happened in Atlanta for you,
00:24 just kind of, what was that like for your confidence?
00:26 >> Yeah, I mean, it was definitely a bounce back week.
00:30 I focused even harder this week, I kind of put that game beside me.
00:35 I didn't want that to be without me, and I kind of just worked hard.
00:39 The whole team worked hard this week.
00:40 We won that last game against Georgia Tech, but it wasn't how we wanted to play it.
00:44 This whole week we worked hard and just grinded it.
00:47 Didn't get the outcome we wanted today, but we got it behind us and
00:51 we got a little turn on it next week, so just gotta keep working.
00:53 >> How often, if at all, do you guys, do you practice the overtime scenario and
00:59 taking it under that next week?
01:00 >> Yeah, so we do it on Thursdays, kind of a walkthrough,
01:04 kind of either last minute scenario.
01:06 We either have a tornado call, we gotta run on the field quick and hit one, or
01:10 just kind of me being ready, just one minute drill, got a near touchdown.
01:13 So pretty much like the same scenario, just basically needed the field goal to
01:16 keep going, so definitely.
01:18 >> What's going through your head during that overtime scenario?
01:21 >> I just had to do my job, it was the job to me, but
01:24 everyone else was doing their job to get us there.
