The Philadelphia 76ers announced Joel Embiid will return before the end of the regular season. In light of blowing a 30-point deficit, could the Celtics’ first-round matchup be more challenging than anyone expected?

00:00 This is great.
00:01 It's good to it.
00:05 All right, three, two, one.
00:08 All right, another episode of the Cedric Maxwell podcast.
00:11 I am Josue Pavone.
00:12 He is, of course, Cedric Maxwell.
00:14 We got a special guest back on the podcast.
00:17 He's Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
00:19 Also one third of the Big Three NBA podcast,
00:23 the NBA three podcast.
00:25 Which one is it Gary?
00:25 One of those, right?
00:26 How's it going?
00:27 It's just the Big Three.
00:30 Josue, you got a NBA three podcast?
00:32 Nah, there's NBA in there somewhere, no?
00:34 The Big Three NBA podcast.
00:37 All right.
00:39 That Boston public school education lets you down, man.
00:42 Hey, listen Gary, yo, don't even, don't even start.
00:47 I forgot.
00:48 We got a West Coast cat in here.
00:49 I forgot, man.
00:50 You know how he is.
00:51 Calling me out already.
00:52 All right.
00:53 Well, let's get into this day road trip because we didn't get
00:56 off to the right note with Celtics team out in Atlanta.
00:59 Two games, two days in between.
01:01 Looks like they could use it too, Gary.
01:03 What did you make of the loss?
01:04 I know time has passed now and it's in the rearview mirror,
01:08 but anything about the Celtics blowing a 30-point lead
01:12 that had you thinking differently about this team at the tail
01:15 end of the regular season?
01:16 Yeah, it looked like, I mean, they were so good in those
01:20 first 13 minutes.
01:22 I mean, they scored 49 points.
01:24 They were clowning.
01:25 The crowd was what the hell.
01:27 Everybody was quiet.
01:29 Then it was 68-38.
01:31 I'm like, okay.
01:32 Then the last four minutes of the second quarter to me was
01:35 where they lost the game.
01:36 Atlanta went on, Atlanta scored 18 points.
01:40 I mean, that's really hard to do is allow 18 points in four
01:43 damn minutes and the Celtics did that.
01:45 They just took their foot completely off the gas.
01:48 They hit two shots in the last four minutes, allowed an 18.
01:52 And when you're down 30 and you go to the half down 18,
01:58 you feel like you've done something. So Atlanta went to the
02:02 break with all the momentum.
02:04 Then I remember the first play of the third quarter.
02:07 It was a simple play where De'Andre Hunter curled off the
02:14 screen, got a pass wide open and dumped it.
02:17 And I was like, yeah, the Celtics ain't locked in.
02:20 Like that was a 16-point game.
02:23 You're like, yeah, this is about to be a battle.
02:25 And it just, it was shades of old, bad offense, lazy defense,
02:31 not getting back.
02:33 The Atlanta shooters getting hot.
02:35 Some dude named Vic Craitchie, you know.
02:39 Two-way player, on a two-way.
02:41 On a two-way, getting steals, hitting threes off the break.
02:45 And it was just, to me, it was embarrassing.
02:48 You can't lose that game.
02:50 You can't, like, you can't, you can, it's different than the
02:54 20-point lead.
02:55 I get it. 30-point lead, nah, man.
02:58 Like, they got to really review, and I get it.
03:02 They slipped.
03:03 Joe started to play some really whack.
03:05 He put Jaden Springer in to start the fourth.
03:07 It was like, are you trying not, like, I get it, you're trying
03:11 stuff, but y'all could lose this game.
03:13 It's not, you know, like, why, and the kid tried.
03:16 He did okay.
03:17 He had an open three that he missed that probably would have
03:20 changed the game, but it was just, it was just.
03:23 Well, wait, wait, man.
03:25 The game, first of all, the game shouldn't have been that close.
03:28 That's, let's put it in proper perspective.
03:31 And they were halfway, they were halfway to the deficit.
03:34 Well, well, that, and you also had, you didn't have your two
03:39 main guards playing the game.
03:40 But then you got Trey Young.
03:42 Well, that. Or Jalen Johnson.
03:45 But I'm talking about two of your best defenders.
03:48 They didn't, they did not play those defenders.
03:51 I'm not giving them any excuses.
03:54 But what I did see, which bothered me, was more so of watching
04:01 Wesley Matthews Jr., what he did to Jason Tatum.
04:06 Jason Tatum was consumed that he was going to beat him one-on-one.
04:10 And that's when the ball stopped moving.
04:13 And when the ball stopped moving, the Suffolks never involved
04:16 anybody else.
04:17 Porzingis wasn't involved in the game.
04:19 Jason Tatum was consumed that he was going to beat this guy
04:22 one-on-one.
04:23 And they let Matthews Jr.
04:26 beat the hell out of him.
04:28 Tatum was trying to go through him with the body.
04:30 He kept hitting him and hitting him.
04:32 And then Brown got the ball.
04:35 Nobody, everybody was watching on the Suffolks team.
04:37 And if they're going to lose a championship, it will be because
04:42 of these reasons, of them not believing that other guys can
04:46 get involved.
04:47 But I also say when you did not have White and you did not have
04:52 your other point guard handling the basketball, moving it around,
04:56 being facilitators, it looked like a completely different
05:00 offense in that second half.
05:01 Yeah, absolutely.
05:03 And you know, the physicality as well, man.
05:05 That leads to my next question.
05:06 I mean, does that part of this scare you a bit?
05:09 I mean, obviously the Celtics team.
05:11 I mean, they just snapped another winning streak that was hitting
05:14 double digits coming off one that, you know, they did that happen
05:18 after the All-Star break.
05:19 So obviously it's not like the sky is falling, but I just feel
05:21 like when you got guys in the middle, you know, when the
05:24 physicality is taking up a notch, you know, they kind of fold
05:27 in those situations, right?
05:28 Physicality?
05:29 You're looking at the criteria of a loss?
05:31 Wait, wait, wait.
05:32 What physicality other than the one guy out there?
05:35 It was Wesley Matthews Jr.
05:38 Yeah, you mentioned him.
05:39 Wesley Matthews.
05:40 Nobody was being physical out there.
05:42 What about the former Celtic Bruno Fernando?
05:44 He was Bruno.
05:45 He was getting his. Bruno Fernando did a great job of rebounding
05:49 the basketball. Al Horford looked like he was out of his element,
05:52 rebounding the basketball.
05:54 They gave up second chance opportunities.
05:56 They gave up steals.
05:57 The one steal in the backcourt, I think, bothered me more than
06:01 anything. And that's when Brown, they tried to throw the ball
06:04 inbound to Brown.
06:05 It was stolen.
06:07 And then the dude knocks down the three and there was no, it
06:11 was never any madness.
06:13 Now what I did think, and Gary, I have to ask you this, is said
06:17 Bogdanovich did not get a chance at all.
06:20 He reached out to shake Jalen Brown's hand and Jalen just
06:24 kind of walked away.
06:24 Was that true?
06:26 I didn't see that.
06:28 But Bogdanovich talks a lot of mess and he was talking a lot
06:33 of mess throughout the game before when it was a 30-point
06:36 lead because he, you know, he's one of those, oh, I got fouled.
06:39 Oh, like, so he took pleasure.
06:42 And then what about when DeJounte Murray took that three and
06:47 started basically strolling in front of the Celtic bench before
06:52 the ball went in?
06:53 Like, did you see, did you notice that, Max?
06:55 Like, old Steph knows that.
06:59 In the new NBA, what you gonna do about it?
07:01 Yeah, like that was, that was like, first of all, the ball,
07:05 so that was, I got to give him props because the ball hadn't
07:08 gone in yet.
07:09 He knew it was going in and he started, he started stepping
07:12 like a kappa right in front of, right in front of the Celtics
07:18 bench. To me, which was a ballsy shot by the way, that was
07:22 disrespectful in itself from a team that's 32 and 39.
07:27 But you know what?
07:28 You asked for it.
07:29 You let them come back in the game.
07:31 I understand, Max, about the physicality.
07:34 Wes Matthews guarded Tatum well.
07:36 Remember in the playoffs when he was with Milwaukee?
07:39 The Bucks, right?
07:40 Yeah, they let him go at Tatum and Tatum got in his head
07:45 and was, "Oh, I'm gonna take care of you and I'm gonna beat
07:48 you." And then Tatum, like, should have attacked the rim
07:52 more. He didn't. Jalen Brown, I don't know what he was doing
07:55 on that final shot where he took that like 27 foot three on
08:00 the right side.
08:01 Like, it's hero ball.
08:03 That's the stuff that they avoided.
08:06 Like, well, tell me how dumb Atlanta was when they got
08:10 the rebound. They hit by one and they take a three and
08:13 the shot. Yeah, that was a ballsy shot too.
08:15 But that wasn't a ballsy shot.
08:18 That was stupid. Atlanta got nothing to lose.
08:20 They about to beat Tim. Yeah, man.
08:22 He went for the dagger.
08:25 That was, that's not a dagger. It was a good shot, but it
08:27 went in. That's not a dagger.
08:29 That was stupid. He was killing it. I talked to Dominique
08:32 about it. He said, "Why the hell did you say we got lucky?
08:35 We took the shot at the end of the game." No, it was a lucky
08:38 shot. Something to get the rebound. But that just showed
08:41 you the respect that they don't have for themselves.
08:43 It's obvious. I don't think it was respect.
08:45 I just think it was a dumbass play.
08:47 I ain't seen no respect in the disrespect. I just feel like
08:51 he's that kind of guy, though. He won't take a shot like
08:53 that just to stay. He won't bet on himself. He did not think
08:56 about what the hell he was doing because I said it. My
09:00 broadcast partner at the time said, "What? Why?" And I
09:03 talked to Dominique after the game and he said, "I couldn't
09:06 believe we took that shot. We're ahead by one and all we
09:11 got to do is freeze the ball now. We take a three." Yeah,
09:14 that was a dagger, but it shouldn't even, you should have
09:18 shot free throws instead. But anyway, I think the biggest
09:21 thing about it is how are the Celtics going to bounce back
09:24 tonight? Do they bounce back? Do they destroy Atlanta?
09:27 I think it's one of the biggest games of the season. Not
09:29 for anything with the standings, but just how they respond.
09:33 Are they mad? They should be mad. They were embarrassed.
09:36 People have been talking about it now for three days about,
09:39 well, it's old Celtics back. What's wrong with the Celtics?
09:42 Are they, this is what happens. They don't have a killer
09:44 instinct. They, look at their offense in the fourth quarter.
09:47 Look how it's stagnant. Look how nothing happens. Look at
09:50 Mazzulla. He didn't call enough time out. All the little
09:53 stuff that was put away, swept away by this great
09:59 record, is now creeping back. And this is the Atlanta Hawks
10:03 without Trey. Like, you're not playing a great team. You're
10:07 playing a team that's basically playing out the string,
10:10 that's likely going to be the tenth seed, and have to play
10:12 on the road, have to win two road games just to make the
10:16 playoffs, to play the Celtics. You're not playing a great team.
10:19 Let me add to the sidebar. You're playing somewhere, Max,
10:22 where you have the most fans. Yeah, that's true. I mean,
10:25 you're not playing a tough road atmosphere. The only time
10:28 they got excited is when it got close. The Atlanta fans were
10:32 not saying nothing. They were, they were, they were sticking
10:36 forward for them. They were dumb. Now, let me add, sidebar,
10:39 Joe Sway, we got to ask them the sidebar. Sidebar, biz,
10:43 what happened when you asked your good buddy Joe Mazzulla
10:46 about what happened? What was your question? Because I didn't
10:49 get a chance to, because I know you asked him. Nothing happened
10:52 after this game. He was like, I said, basically, what happened
10:56 at the end of the second quarter. That's when y'all lost
10:58 the game. Like y'all lost the game in the second half, the
11:01 third quarter, but 18 to 6, and you're, they looked inept,
11:06 and you just allowed him to put up 18 points, and you don't
11:09 make no adjustments. Max, what adjustments did they make from
11:13 the first half to the second half? I don't think that they
11:16 made, obviously, they make no. The one I looked at was,
11:20 I think in the third quarter, when the leads are going down,
11:23 when people say, call a timeout. I thought that Joe Mazzulla
11:28 at that time was, he was sending a message to the guys on
11:30 the floor, guys, play out of this shit. You know, this is,
11:34 this, you gotta lead. You can beat this team if you want
11:38 to. Now, if you want to play stupid as hell, I'm going to
11:41 let you embarrass yourself. That might have been a team,
11:43 might have been a message to his team, because. I'm not going to
11:47 jumble about the timeouts. Yeah, I'm not going to jumble
11:50 about, oh, he didn't call enough timeouts. There just probably
11:53 should have been some more adjustments. Obviously, Atlanta
11:56 played much more physical defensively in the second half.
11:59 15 offensive rebounds. Yeah, I would say. Cooper Pellett and
12:04 Bruno Fernando just giving them second chances, and then
12:07 their shooters got hot. But Johnovich got us off to a slow
12:11 start. Big crazy. Yeah, they all of a sudden, they were
12:15 getting shots that they didn't hit. Peyton Pritchard misses
12:18 two free throws. You never see that happen. I mean, it's
12:22 just, it's just stuff, wacky stuff. But when you, when you
12:25 cheat the game like that, you start taking, you start taking
12:29 30 footers because you try to entertain the crowd. You know,
12:32 you want to, you want to, you want a bunch of oohs and ahs.
12:35 Oh, let me just take this 30 footer. We're up 30. So what?
12:38 That's what comes back in the basketball gods and people
12:41 think, well, that's not true. That'd be happening. There's
12:44 there, there's some prices to pay in when you start messing
12:48 around with the game like that. And it's self-exposed to pay
12:51 that price. When you hear, hear, hear how, here's how it
12:54 goes. You fuck with the game, the game's going to fuck with
12:58 you. And that's what happened in that segment. When you talk
13:01 about, they did, they, they, they wanted the oohs, they
13:05 wanted the ahs, they were throwing behind the back passes.
13:07 They were showboating. And, and then they did not know how
13:12 to change gears. They could have just beat this team, but
13:15 they're just going to the free throw line. But they wanted
13:18 to shoot the threes. They wanted to profile. They wanted
13:20 to stop. So hopefully I'm trying to not to, and here I am.
13:25 I'm trying not to put too much credit in this game, but
13:29 I'm like you, I believe exactly what you're saying. When
13:33 you say this is a huge game tonight from a psychological
13:37 psychological standpoint, there are a bunch of fans. I
13:40 who've already said, I knew you guys going to beat the
13:43 hell out of us tomorrow. I know you're going to beat
13:45 this. You're going to be just going to be well, are the
13:47 Celtics going to come out and put their big boy shoes
13:50 on and run away with this game? We'll see if that happens.
13:53 Absolutely. And Gary, the latest latest on Drew holiday.
13:58 I mean, obviously bit of concern level going up, you
14:01 know, the amount of games he's missed not a whole lot
14:04 of games left in regular season, but he did return to
14:06 practice this week on the road. What's the latest on
14:09 Drew and how's the shoulder doing? I think he's going
14:12 to play on Thursday night against the Hawks. It looks
14:15 like he's going to play in Derek White will return to
14:17 the lineup. So they'll have, I think for the first
14:20 time in maybe three weeks, almost three weeks. They'll
14:22 have their original private, the playoffs starting
14:25 lineup. You would say with Tatum Brown, white holiday
14:28 and for Zingas. Yeah, holidays getting back to normal,
14:31 you know, that shoulder injury kind of took him back
14:34 a little bit, but he's been working out. He practiced
14:37 in full on Wednesday practice. He participated in
14:41 a shoot around on Monday. So he probably could have
14:43 played maybe played Monday night, but they want to
14:47 get him through a full practice. The premium cautious
14:49 with him. So yeah, I don't think injuries will be an
14:52 issue. They'll have their full roster. So we can't
14:54 say, oh, we need to have white. We didn't have all
14:57 the day like no, no, this is your full team. Who
15:02 talks like that? All these people.
15:04 Excuse like that. You was up 68 38. You have to win
15:10 the game. You have to win that game. You cannot lose
15:14 a third. It cannot be matter. In fact, 20 point. I
15:17 can understand what I just said before 18 to 60 and
15:22 a half 19 to 40 begin the third quarter 37 to 10
15:26 against that team. A team without its best player.
15:30 Yeah, you're right. You're right. You can't I cannot
15:34 deny what you're saying. I think this is true as
15:38 it can be, but we know during the season that this
15:42 team and I've said this to a couple other people
15:45 and they're going to have to get that that pressure
15:49 bubble away from how do they do that? That's going
15:53 to be the big thing with this team. If they're
15:55 going to win a championship, we're going to find
15:58 out early in the playoffs how this team goes out
16:01 and they perform. I think if they have their top
16:05 seven top eight guys, I think they're going to be
16:08 fine, but it's going to be a key like you're saying
16:11 tonight. You don't want slippage. What you saw the
16:15 other day was slippage defensively and
16:17 offensively and really I want to say was more is
16:21 more in their heads because they were so much
16:24 better than Atlanta and I agree with Gary totally
16:27 is that they were looking for the ooze and Oz.
16:30 They wanted the judges, you know, to give them a
16:33 10 for every shot. Just just tell her this team
16:36 and then go home. So I totally agree with you
16:39 saying. Absolutely. All right, Gary. I gotta ask
16:43 you about this man. I mean Max and I talked about
16:45 it briefly before we hit record, but I want to
16:47 take on this and that's a what's happening down
16:50 in Philly with Joel and be now like Nick Nurse
16:52 says that he's gonna they're gonna try to get
16:54 him back into the lineup before the end of the
16:56 season. Crap. I'm up going into the playoffs. But
16:59 what are you expecting 76ers team, especially
17:02 with the way things are trying to integrate far
17:05 from 100% Joel be back into the folds, you know,
17:09 Nick Nurse, obviously in the organization are
17:10 hopeful, but what are the chances of Philly of
17:14 making this thing a success going into the playoffs
17:16 and is that a realistic, you know possibility
17:19 first-round? What do you think is in the cards
17:21 with Philly right now? Yeah, I think that Philly
17:24 is a team that I don't think they have put any
17:29 fear in anybody as they are now, but I think
17:32 with indeed they can win a couple of playoff
17:35 games. I just I don't know if comparing them to
17:39 last year's team. I just don't think they were
17:41 playing good ball with and be got hurt, but I
17:44 just never have believed wholeheartedly in this
17:47 team, you know, I like Tyrese Maxey, but Tobias
17:53 Harris is still straight up like he's like the
17:58 get off the bus. He gets off the bus. Look all
18:01 men and little he can who oh my God and then
18:04 you'll be you'll get, you know, two for 18 for
18:08 them to feel like I just have no faith in the
18:10 consistency of Tobias Harris, Kelly Oubre flaky
18:14 as can be. I guess he's playing well with them.
18:20 Can you ride Kyle Lowry through the playoffs?
18:23 Like I'm not saying Philly can't you know, if
18:26 I'm the sales do I want to play in be with Philly?
18:29 No, I do not. I want to get this where I was
18:31 getting at all costs. However, I don't think
18:35 that they got the chance to beat themselves in
18:36 seven game series even with it be coming off
18:41 three three plus months off. And who knows how
18:44 long it's going to take him to get back into
18:46 form. I think Philly's probably got to restart
18:50 everything for next year, but who knows where
18:53 they'll land like that's the thing about right
18:55 now. This whole playing race like Indiana
18:58 Philadelphia and Miami are kind of fighting. I
19:02 think Chicago and Atlanta are locked in at 9 10
19:05 10 9 whatever you want to say, but it's going
19:09 to be interesting to see, you know, and then
19:11 who's going to win if it's Miami Philadelphia.
19:14 I'd be fascinated to see who the Celtic fans
19:17 would want to face and it goes down to those
19:19 two Indiana. I don't think they're playing as
19:22 well as I did earlier in the season, but they're
19:26 a dangerous opponent. They've already beaten
19:27 Celtics twice this year. You know, is Miami
19:32 still got bite left? They lost by 20 20 some
19:36 21 points at home to the Warriors the other
19:38 night. Like I know they've been injured, but
19:40 it's getting to the point with Miami where they
19:43 got to just they got to flip the switch like
19:45 and they did last year. Can you do that again?
19:49 You know, it's 10 games left. They still got
19:51 dudes out Tyler Hero Duncan Robinson. Like it's
19:54 not like okay. We've been messing with y'all
19:58 for four months. Now, here's our lineup. Everybody
20:02 suddenly got healthy. Here we go. We're about
20:05 to put this together like they're literally
20:08 still got guys out. So is Miami to be really
20:12 feared? I mean, obviously I think some of the
20:14 fans fear Miami because of Eric's Polstra
20:16 against Joe Missoula the greatness of Jimmy
20:19 Butler when he's right. So I don't think it's
20:22 gonna be any easy first round opponent, even
20:25 if it's Indiana Philadelphia or I'm not saying
20:27 like I know Max like and we'll smash all the
20:29 booze, but that's a look on his face.
20:34 Max is like, yeah, that's like us playing the
20:40 84-7 playing against the you know, the Cavaliers
20:44 back there. Like what you talking about Gary?
20:47 That's how he sees me in his head.
20:49 That's the plane against the New Jersey Nets.
20:52 What are you talking about boo? I know Max is
20:55 doubtful, but I think it'll be interesting first
20:57 round series. All right, Gary. I have a question
21:00 since you said the thing about get off the bus
21:03 and look like a guy can play. You know, I'm
21:06 curious. I've never asked you this question.
21:08 How would you describe your game when you play
21:11 back in the day? Oh, it was a calm. You want
21:14 to come? I want to know. I want to know how
21:16 you would describe. I wasn't a very good. I
21:19 was like a I was like a undersized chunky
21:26 point guard. Like I could I would say Khalid
21:28 El-Amin or something like that.
21:30 It would still sound better Gary. Give me a call.
21:33 Give me a player. Like I had point guard skills,
21:37 but I was I didn't go through a growth spurt.
21:39 So I was short but I could hoop. I could shoot.
21:42 I could dribble. I could shoot up but I wasn't
21:44 fast like you put you put so fast through the
21:48 army. I could you know, I was not he was going
21:50 to he was getting to the rack. You put Derrick
21:52 Rose against me. You put you put Tyrese Maxey
21:55 against me. I remember. I remember when Gary was in the
22:03 you was in the bubble. You guys had a media game
22:06 and man Gary still you know, you was you had a
22:09 couple spin moves, you know what I mean? Like
22:10 obviously we're talking years ago. I was in the finals
22:13 in 19. That was not I turned myself. I'm a
22:17 rebounder and like I'm just a I'm Al Horford at
22:21 this point. Like I'm just I'm doing little things.
22:24 I'm passing out like I'm not I ain't putting my
22:27 scoring ability is no like no, I know my role.
22:30 I'm Luke Cornette like, you know, tipping in
22:33 like rebound. You're a lower man. Not as you
22:36 out there. Lace of wood, lace of wood in the
22:39 paint. Like that's me. I am not no. I know my
22:44 role. I did not try. I just I just want I just
22:47 want to know because you said getting off the bus
22:50 guy. We've seen. Come on. Thank you. Get off the
22:55 bus. You just need to be you be laughing like
22:57 you were like you wasn't James Worthy.
22:59 See you off the bus like that's what we're playing.
23:04 Oh, who you picking Gary or Tobias Harris? Come
23:07 on.
23:07 Then this is this is no knock to Gary. But what
23:13 I've been saying, who's a little fat guy go
23:16 guard over here. Exactly.
23:19 Oh man, exactly. I just I just want to know
23:24 because we've never talked. I've seen Joe Sway
23:26 up play a little bit. I got a little game, you
23:32 know, I was gonna say finish that said Max.
23:33 Finish that said no. No, you got a little game.
23:36 We got you got some passing skills and you
23:39 know, now like a now who surprised me? And I love
23:46 them. But a charade. What you can't play you can't
23:54 play a charade can't play. Which direction you
24:00 going with this? He ain't no ball. He ain't no
24:03 ball. You got the look. Oh, yeah, he's a straight.
24:06 So they right man. I know man. I saw him play.
24:12 I'm like, I'm looking for a little like something
24:15 he had that was a surronding have that he have
24:20 all the I met and this just just goes to show
24:24 every black guy can't play. No, that's how that
24:28 works out. You know, you go to a gym and you
24:31 say don't let the stereotype. Yeah, don't let
24:33 the stereotype, you know, I'm gonna take a black
24:35 guy right here. You going? Damn dude. I should
24:39 have took the white guy. Could you you came over
24:42 the hall? How many times you walked into a gym?
24:44 You see a guy? Who's dressed apart who has on
24:49 the has all the gear has a great shoes on wrist
24:54 bands, you know, everything tied up. He picked
24:57 second or third Max. He got his little powder
25:00 like LeBron. So yeah, I just wanted to know I'm
25:10 just kicking it out. You know, if y'all want to
25:13 you know, wrap me out and say Sharad, I tell
25:16 you what, we'll go out and we'll we'll film a
25:19 Sharad and you tell me the. Oh, man, you talk
25:23 about a seal and that's the media game. We could
25:25 do that. Let's do that this summer. I'm down,
25:29 you know, you know, who probably will be a killer
25:31 probably Bobby. Bobby Bobby knows the game. I
25:35 don't know if he can play but Bobby said, like,
25:37 you know, he's tall. He's got a jump shot. I
25:40 shot around by before. I'm gonna play a full game
25:42 with him, but we shot around before about the
25:45 little Indian guy. I've never seen him play
25:51 before. Oh, God, I can't believe you say that
25:56 the dude editing our podcast is the producer.
26:00 Yeah, I'm in. I'm in. Yeah, I think his skill
26:05 level but he is so comfortable with his. I'm
26:10 gonna see him tonight. I'm gonna tell you you
26:12 referred to him as what you just referred to
26:13 him. I do. I mean, I know, you know, here you
26:20 go. Here you go. Here goes some bright being a
26:22 rat. He got that down, but you know guys, we got
26:25 we gotta wrap this up because I gotta get ready
26:27 to put my clothes on to get to this bus. But I
26:30 think tonight is gonna tell a big story about
26:33 what this stuff the team is all about. If you
26:36 have pride, you come back and kick these guys
26:38 asses. And that's all I got real quick. Last
26:40 question. Last question. I want to hear y'all
26:42 take on this. I was Caitlin Clark just offered
26:46 five million dollars from Ice Cube to join the
26:48 big three. Quick. What do you guys take on it?
26:51 Take the money girl. Yeah, five million dollars.
26:57 That's a win-win. And they told you to play WBA.
27:01 Why not take the money? But here's what I say
27:04 to you. That's a win-win for the big three to
27:05 but here's what I'll say to you girl. Watch out
27:08 because there's some brothers out there be
27:09 after your ass. No, you make a bad meal. They
27:13 would they go. Yeah. Yeah. And the WNBA, I mean
27:20 the big three people don't always random like
27:23 the big threes had women coaches Nancy Lieberman
27:26 Lisa Leslie. So I mean they they they've kind
27:30 of wrecked broken some ground here. I mean we
27:32 talk about players though. Yeah, but they have
27:34 had a female player. We talk about somebody
27:37 who's in her prime going up against some guys
27:39 who aren't in their prime to see how one of
27:42 the best women shooters of all time would
27:45 perform in a league that has guys who are probably
27:51 more so over the heel when you say over the
27:54 heel and some great players who have been in
27:56 there, but but there's a core of guys in there
27:59 that still are highly skilled, but they will
28:03 try to go as I asked and they would test her on
28:05 every possession. Agree. I love to see I think
28:09 it'll bring a brand new fan base, you know,
28:11 obviously, you know, fans of the play and WNBA
28:14 would would watch. I think it would be a huge
28:17 success for both for both sides. Hopefully it
28:18 happens. But with that we brought this episode
28:20 the Cedric Maxwell podcast. He is Gary Washburn
28:23 Gary always a blast with you on the show. Check
28:26 out his work. Of course in the Boston Globe
28:29 Boston Globe calm on Twitter and check out his
28:31 podcast. He on the CNS media network. He is

28:36 you guys out next week, man. Thanks for tuning.
