Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Mark Dunford and I'm here with today's Sussex World Daily Bulletin on Thursday March
00:05 28th. The remains of a Roman settlement have been uncovered in West Sussex. The discovery
00:10 comes amid an archaeological dig to support the planning process for the Tangmere Strategic
00:15 Development location. Countryside Properties UK Ltd is working with Chichester District
00:20 Council and Tangmere Parish Council on the development of 1,300 homes and community facilities
00:25 at Tangmere Village. A spokesperson for the developer said "The technical evaluations
00:30 have identified areas of archaeological interest on the site, which includes the remains of
00:35 a Roman settlement." As a result of this, the University College of London's Archaeology
00:41 South East team will be undertaking archaeological excavations across 14 hectares of the site
00:47 over the course of the next three years. The latest on the future of St Leonard's Seafront
00:53 venue has been revealed this week. Marina Pavilion was the home to Azure, which closed
00:58 earlier this year. Azure opened in 2008 and was a popular venue for wedding celebrations,
01:02 birthday parties and anniversaries. It stopped operating on January 29th this year. Over
01:08 the previous year it closed, a question mark hung over the venue's future due to a long
01:12 running dispute between the company which managed it, Azure Events Ltd, and the lease
01:17 hold owner, Seachain Sussex. Marina Pavilion has now been made available by Seachain Sussex
01:22 which said it has appointed leisure sector property agents, Fleurettes and commercial
01:27 estate agents, Dyer and Hobbis, to help market the site to prospective leaseholders.
01:33 And Eastbourne School has received an inadequate rating after its most recent Ofsted inspection.
01:39 College Central, a pupil referral unit at 124 Broderick Road in Eastbourne, received
01:44 an inadequate rating after its most recent Ofsted inspection on February 7th and 8th.
01:49 All categories which include quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development
01:53 and leadership and management, also received an inadequate rating. The school previously
01:58 received a good rating following inspection in 2018.
02:04 Sussex police officers have launched an appeal after a child was hit by a car in Eastbourne
02:08 yesterday, March 27th. Emergency services were called to reports of a collision between
02:12 a car and a child in Hazelwood Avenue, Eastbourne at around 3.50pm. A 13-year-old boy was airlifted
02:18 to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, a police spokesperson said. His
02:23 next of kin have been informed.
