00:00Hi, I'm Mark Dunford and I'm here with today's Sussex World Daily Bulletin on Wednesday
00:05May 8th 2024. A young man has died after an incident on
00:09a road in West Sussex. Sussex police said emergency services were called to a report
00:14of a car having left the carriageway of the A286 near Midhurst at around 6am on Monday
00:19May 6th. A man in his 20s, the only occupant of the vehicle, was sadly confirmed deceased
00:25at the scene, a police spokesperson added. His next of kin have been informed.
00:30Torrential rain on Monday did little to dampen the town's enthusiasm for the Jack of the
00:34Green celebrations. After a large dry weekend, the event experienced a day-long downpour
00:40for its main procession day on the bank holiday. But the streets of the Hastings Old Town were
00:44still lined by thousands of people eager to watch the colourful and noisy procession,
00:49and there was no noticeable difference to crowd numbers at last year's event when
00:52the sun was shining. The procession, led by Jack, an 8ft high dancing bush, consisted
00:58of local drumming groups, Morris dancers and many other colourful characters.
01:03Worthing Charity Guildcare is set to close its Dolphin Court shouted accommodation following
01:07a six-week consultation process with residents. The consultation was prompted by a Building
01:13Condition Survey report which highlighted significant remediation required and included
01:19a long-term 30-year review. The management board and trustees said they have reluctantly
01:24decided to close the charity's building on the corner of Shelley Road and Salphy Road
01:28following the consultation period. The new landlord of a historic pub in West Sussex
01:33said he has big plans for the future. David Skinner has taken over the reins at the St
01:37Mary's Gate in Arundel, which is celebrating its 500th birthday next year.
01:42I've always had my eye on this pub, David, who also owns the Lamb in West Wittering said.
01:47It's part of the same brewery I already work with, Hall and Woodhouse. It's a really good
01:51brewery to work with and I've always thought Arundel had some lovely pubs and restaurants
01:55but I think I can add something to the mix. In the sporting scene, Crawley Town, they
02:01put one foot at Wembley after winning their first leg of their League Two play-off semi-final
02:07against MK Dons to 3-0. Goals from Liam Kelly, Ronan Darcy and Jay Williams gave Crawley
02:16the advantage going into that second leg which is played on Saturday at Stadium NK.
