00:00 Hi, I'm Andrew Snowden, Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner.
00:04 And in this week's video, I'm actually just stopping to do this week's video, as you can
00:07 see behind me, whilst I've been at a community meeting with local police officers.
00:12 And you know my commitment to neighbourhood policing.
00:14 We've committed over the next three years to recruit an extra 20 officers a year for
00:19 neighbourhood policing alone.
00:20 And that's on top of all the hundreds of extra officers we've already recruited.
00:24 But the purpose of this video is to give you even more exciting news that we're getting
00:28 another 25 officers funded centrally from government for Lancashire.
00:34 So that's another 25 officers joining the ranks of Lancashire Constabulary.
00:38 That's really important for continuing to build the visible police presence in communities.
00:44 We've been here talking about the amazing work that the Ancestral Sheen Bay Hot Spot
00:47 Patrolling has been doing.
00:49 We've got the local members of the community here.
00:51 We actually stood near a shop that's been shut down by the council for illegal vape
00:55 trading.
00:56 So all of this work coming together to tackle the root causes, build visibility and to
01:01 make our streets safer.
01:02 We can only do that with excellent police officers out there doing great work.
01:07 So I'm delighted to say that on top of all the other things I've been announcing over
01:11 the last few years of more officers, yet another big wad of cash coming from government for
01:16 Lancashire for 25 more officers.
