Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Andrew Snowden, Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner.
00:04 And I find myself in lots of different and interesting places in this job,
00:07 and you'll see them in the films as I give these weekly updates,
00:10 as I let you know about the different ways I am, as your voice in policing,
00:15 leading the fight against crime.
00:18 And I'm actually at the Digital Forensics HQ of Lancashire Constabulary today,
00:23 where I've been talking about the work we've been doing to make significant investments
00:28 over the past few years and into next year in the capabilities for digital investigations,
00:33 digital forensics and the more broader laboratory and science work that happen in this building,
00:39 which is critical to being able to get criminals behind bars where they belong.
00:46 And this week's video is about the budget.
00:49 So as Commissioner, one of the key things that I do is manage and oversee
00:53 the over £300 million a year we spend on policing in Lancashire.
00:58 I've just set out my budget proposals, which received cross-party support
01:02 from both Labour and Conservative councillors,
01:05 about the budget proposals that I have made for next year.
01:10 That will see a further £1 million invested into the local neighbourhood policing.
01:15 It'll see £450,000 to support the rollout of the anti-social behaviour hotspot patrolling
01:22 that receives so much positive feedback from the public.
01:25 £2 million into the fleet and digital capabilities of the force
01:29 to make sure that the frontline is supported in the most efficient and effective way it can.
01:34 Through to investments in this very building, the teams that are here
01:38 to make sure that the police are one step ahead of the criminals in the digital space
01:43 and can use all the different means of technologies to bring offenders to justice
01:49 and protect the most vulnerable in our society.
01:53 So you can read online about my budget proposals, just look on our social media
01:57 or Google 'Lancashire Police Budget 2024' and it will come up.
02:02 And I hope you'll see the different ways we're investing in policing
02:06 and supporting my mission, which I promised you from the first day I got elected
02:10 into this job I would do, which is to lead the fight against crime.
