Transcript
00:00 A group that supports the economic charter change was accused of quickly passing the resolution of both houses number 7 in the House of Representatives.
00:10 That's what Melales Moras reported.
00:12 Even the minority bloc has already accepted defeat in the fight for the economic charter change in the House of Representatives.
00:20 This Wednesday, the resolution of both houses number 7 was approved in the second reading and next week, it is expected to be passed in the third and final reading of the House of Representatives.
00:32 Under the RBH 7, the amendment to some economic provisions of the Constitution is being pushed to expand the scope of foreign ownership of public utilities, education and advertising industries in the country.
00:46 According to Albay First District Representative Edsel Agman, one of the people opposing the economic charter change is looking at the camera.
00:53 It's a missed number game and because there is a supermajority, the implementation of the RBH 7 is already set in stone.
01:00 You may call it defeat because the supermajority was defeated.
01:08 Next week, when the lower house passes the resolution of both houses number 7, that will be Palm Sunday.
01:23 There will be a lot of hallelujahs.
01:26 But when it comes to the Senate, we are going to mourn it as it is on Good Friday.
01:34 An economist has criticized the implementation of the economic charter in the House of Representatives.
01:39 He says that it is already in the limelight.
01:42 If the law is passed, he will be the one who will benefit from it.
01:47 If we want to be fully progressive, then we should serve the Filipino consumer rather than our industries.
01:55 Rather than the oligarchs who are beneficiaries of these restrictions and lack of competition.
02:01 To be really progressive, we should change the status quo instead of being reactionaries and arguing for the status quo.
02:11 At a press conference, the majority bloc of the camera gave a statement that they are in favor of the economic charter because it will benefit the country.
02:21 Even President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. wants it to be implemented.
02:25 The economic charter is a real help to every Filipino.
02:30 We need the economic charter because if we leave, we will be left behind.
02:37 No matter who the president is, he cannot do his job if we do not open up to the truth.
02:47 At the end of the day, it is still up to the people to decide.
02:51 It will go to everybody.
02:54 We need information dissemination to understand all of our countrymen up to the point of the bone.
03:06 Aside from the RBH-7, Congressman Lagman is also hoping that the divorce bill will be passed to the camera
03:12 so that it can be a gift to the public, especially this month of women.
03:17 In the second reading, this is a gift to the women's month.
03:23 There are many allies there.
03:25 We need to talk to the majority leader, who is already on the calendar, so that we can talk to the Senate.
03:35 The young men are determined to do their part.
03:39 They are doing their best for the people.
03:43 Mela Lasmoras for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
03:47 Philippines.
