00:00The 2025 Proposed Budget of the Migrant Workers and National Defense Departments is now in the Senate Finance Committee.

00:09This is what Isaiah Mirafuente reported.

00:13The Senate Committee Level has now approved the Proposed 2025 Budget for the Department of Migrant Workers.

00:21The budget for the so-called Department of Migrant Workers could reach more than Php 8.5 billion.

00:28More than Php 280 million will go to the digitalization of the DMW.

00:34As the Chairperson of the Finance Subcommittee, Letter J,

00:39I declare the Proposed Fiscal Year 2025 Budget of the Department of Migrant Workers

00:45including the Proposed 2025 Budgets of its attached agencies,

00:49namely, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, OWA,

00:53the National Maritime Polytechnic, and the OFW Hospital,

00:57deemed submitted to the Plenary for action.

01:00Among the discussions is the strengthening of government-to-government hiring of the DMW

01:08and the improvement of the engagement of the Philippines with other countries.

01:13Next year, the possible opening of the six new Migrant Workers Offices in different parts of the world is expected.

01:22The Filipinos in the death row were also discussed earlier

01:27that the so-called Department of Migrant Workers is focused on strengthening their legal assistance for the OFWs.

01:51Meanwhile, the Proposed Budget of the Department of National Defense was first discussed by the Senate Committee.

01:58More than Php 250 billion was proposed by the Department for next year.

02:06A large portion of the fund is the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

02:1049.17% is in the Philippine Army,

02:1319.60% is in the Philippine Air Force,

02:17and 19.30% is in the Philippine Navy.

02:21There's no reason for us to, for the AFP,

02:25modernization to experience further budget cuts because of the sensitive and precarious situation in the West Philippine Sea.

02:33After reading the Senate Committee,

02:35the Proposed Budget of the two Departments will be included in the Senate Plenary.
