US mulls tightening controls on chip exports to China

The US Commerce Secretary mentioned plans to tighten export rules to prevent China from getting high-tech chips and machines that might help its military. These controls began in 2022 to curb chip use for military purposes, like making hypersonic missiles and AI. China complained last year when the US widened these rules, saying they disrupt global trade and supply chains.
