New Tokyo exhibition marks 50 years of Hello Kitty

A new exhibition set to open in Tokyo celebrates all things Hello Kitty, the cute, enigmatic character that turns 50 on Friday.

Adorning everything from handbags to rice cookers, the world-dominating character remains a serious money-spinner for her Japanese creators Sanrio - with a market cap value of $6.8 billion.
