00:07 A section of the A27 near Chichester remains closed this morning.

00:11 Sussex Traffic Watch on X, formerly Twitter, said it is likely to remain closed throughout the morning rush hour

00:17 after flooding was first reported in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

00:20 AA Traffic News said that the eastbound road is closed from A285 Portfield Way

00:25 to the A285's Petworth Turnoff, while drainage works continue.

00:30 Eastbourne will receive a further £20 million of levelling up money to help regenerate the town

00:35 following the announcement of the budget by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

00:38 The money will come from the £1.5 billion long-term plan for towns

00:43 and was announced by the Chancellor in his budget on Wednesday, March 6th.

00:46 Over the next 10 years, the funding will be used by local leaders, including the MP and councils,

00:52 to fund local priorities from high street or seafront regeneration to community safety or transport links.

00:58 There will also be more support to allow councils to make use of a suite of regeneration powers

01:03 to unlock more private sector investment by auctioning empty high street shops

01:07 and would potentially allow empty sites in the town centre to be used for housing.

01:11 A new nature-inspired playground is set to open at Leonardsley Lakes and Gardens.

01:16 The park, which is designed for children of all ages, includes a 5-metre multi-level champion tree tower,

01:22 a 32.5-metre zip-line ride, teepee dens, balancing beams and an array of swings.

01:28 Adults can also join in the fun with inclusive areas, double width slides and tango seats for intergenerational play,

01:35 enabling parents and carers to join their children in fostering imagination and promoting physical development.

01:40 There is also a dedicated junior area tailored for toddlers and preschoolers,

01:44 complete with a miniature Leonardsley House, interactive kitchen and creative drawing station.

01:49 The playground is being created by the Bristol-based company Touchwood Play.
