00:00 Well George Peach, it says it's a lifetime achievement and for you it has been a lifetime.
00:04 You have been involved in the Southern Hunger nearly all of your life.
00:07 A bit of you there tonight from the 70th of April.
00:10 I love the place and it's part of my life and you know I just can't believe that
00:18 I'm so emotional. I don't really think I deserve it to be quite honest.
00:24 You deserve it very much George, you do.
00:28 You first came on the committee, well you first marched up on 62nd was that right?
00:32 Yeah when I was 16.
00:34 And how did you get engaged?
00:35 No Stadium Corner first, then I went to the Iron Gate and then Alan happened to coach myself.
00:44 It's going back when Peter Mac's recorders were the big thing and we done a raffle for the
00:54 Southern Hunger and we raised a couple of thousand pounds or something for the last one.
00:58 I bet you sometimes wish you still stayed as the bar co-leader.
01:02 Oh yeah.
01:03 You wonder about all the headaches.
01:04 But no you are respected and what they said on stage was quite true you know you're very
01:10 approachable, very modest and you know Ian Lockhart you know him to say what you're supposed to say.
01:15 Very kind of him, Jim Reeves, Chris, everybody you know very nice.
01:20 So what's been the highlight of the years really?
01:23 What would you say one thing stacked out over the years?
01:26 There's been so many to be honest George.
01:28 I mean I don't know I think Joey Dunlop winning the races, one of the best races I've ever seen
01:40 was the post TT races with Jason, Phil McCallum and Joey Dunlop and the gun down the bypass.
01:56 It was when the years of Mexican raves and everybody was stood up and sitting down and
02:01 the race was absolutely fantastic and then we've had so many brilliant races since with lots of
02:08 you know with Michael Dunlop, Dean, people like that and Jason Tarrant.
02:13 It's been absolutely brilliant.
02:14 And even one year or a couple of years ago some TT races on the course.
02:18 Yeah we were very very honoured to have them.
02:21 It's a shame it never carried on but you know that's the way it goes.
02:26 So the wheels are turning and you've got another year, another two races,
02:30 two meetings coming up this year, pre-TT happens something like in July.
02:33 That's right.
02:34 So it never stops really?
02:36 No it's basically once one meeting finishes the committee,
02:40 they're all hard working on to the next ones and like I said up on stage and
02:46 without the committee, without the directors, without the marshals,
02:49 without everybody who's involved it wouldn't be a summer, there's not one person, it's everybody.
02:54 And in your case in particular the family.
02:56 Well exactly yeah.
02:57 I bet you they've been in juggle and haven't forgotten.
03:01 Sue and Rachel, the whole family do fantastic.
03:05 George, congratulations.
03:06 Okay, thanks again, Joe.
03:07 Much appreciated.
