Mario Cristobal has been revamping the Hurricanes roster for the past two years. Do the Miami Hurricanes now have enough depth to win an ACC Championship?

00:00 But there are maybe some units, Geo, defensive backfield.
00:03 There's a lot of a lot of question marks there.
00:05 You know, maybe there are some question marks at linebacker, but kind of overall,
00:10 when you look at every position group and when you think about the types of teams
00:14 that have won ACC championships and competed for college football playoff,
00:18 you know how deep some of the great Clemson teams were, you know, Florida State.
00:23 You know, they were very deep last year.
00:25 I mean, they they went, you know, 13 and 0 despite getting down to the third
00:28 quarterback, they didn't get into the playoffs because of that.
00:31 Does Miami have a roster that can really compete for a title?
00:35 For an ACC championship,
00:39 I would say, excuse me, yes.
00:42 Reason why I would say that last season, I know
00:47 if you look at it on a surface level, you see a seven and five regular season.
00:52 One of the other issues that Miami had, though, was inconsistent quarterback play.
00:59 You had Tyler Van Dyke, who pretty much cannibalized himself,
01:02 throwing about I think it was a mark of 11 or 12.
01:06 Picks over a five game stretch.
01:08 Oh, yeah. Or five and a half or so. Right.
01:11 So you can't win with that type of football.
01:15 It was more so Miami just kept on shooting themselves in the foot.
01:19 They were very competitive in just about every game.
01:22 I know some people are kind of upset with the results of the bowl game,
01:28 but that was a shell of what that 2023 team was.
01:32 They took quite a leap
01:37 from Mario's first year into the second year.
01:39 I think just overall, depth wise, they were a bit better,
01:43 especially starter level.
01:45 There was more high quality guys.
01:47 Mario's first year is kind of some question marks here and there.
01:50 If if this guy should be starting or that guy should even be playing at all.
01:54 That was more cleared up last season.
01:56 And I think it's on the right trajectory.
01:58 So this year. Yeah.
02:01 I think Miami's answered the quarterback question.
02:04 I think they have a deep running back room.
02:07 I know we're going to be discussing that today, too.
02:09 Injuries happened within that room.
02:11 They got two great wide receivers returning.
02:13 They got some young talent coming in the room.
02:16 Offensive line, you got three key main pieces coming back.
02:19 And then on defense, you return practically
02:23 your whole entire defensive line, like most of your production.
02:27 Aside from Leonard Taylor, your linebackers return.
02:31 Biggest question mark, obviously the defensive backs.
02:34 But Miami look for answers through the transfer portal.
02:37 So when I look at Miami's roster
02:40 compared to the rest of the ACC going into next season.
02:43 I say yes, because of how competitive they were last year,
02:47 and I think their roster is better this year than that.
02:51 Just my opinion, they've returned a lot of talent.
02:54 I know people will bring up the questions.
02:55 Oh, Cameron Kitchens or oh, JV on going and Matt Lee.
02:59 I think Mario Cristobal has recruited well enough
03:03 between the high school ranks and the transfer portal ranks
03:06 to answer those question marks.
