00:00 President Ferdinand R. Barcos Jr. landed in the Royal Australian Air Force Fairbairns in Canberra, Australia at 4.11 pm in the Philippines.
00:15 Meanwhile, President Barcos Jr. is still worried about the increasing number of cases of China's jamming activities on Philippine ships in the West Philippine Sea.
00:29 He is still studying the possibility of increasing the 5% premium rate of PhilHealth.
00:36 Alan Francisco is back.
00:38 The government is still studying the possibility of increasing the 5% premium rate of PhilHealth.
00:45 This is what President Ferdinand R. Barcos Jr. said in an interview before he left for Australia this morning.
00:52 In our review, what we are trying to determine is that if we are going to increase the contribution from 4% to 5%, what is the compensation?
01:01 It's really a cost-benefit analysis.
01:04 The President admitted that PhilHealth is giving more services to its members.
01:10 This includes support to those who are on dialysis where they are given three times a week or equivalent to full weekly coverage.
01:20 PhilHealth is giving its members coverage for those who have case Z conditions like cancer.
01:46 According to the Universal Health Care Act, it is stipulated that the PhilHealth contribution rate will increase by 0.5% every year from 2021
01:55 and will continue to increase until it reaches 5% from 2024 to 2025.
02:01 The President is also suspending the increase of the ceiling and premium rate for 2023.
02:07 Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. again denied that the sovereignty of the country is dependent on the West Philippine Sea.
02:14 He said that this is a case of increasing electronic communications jamming activities against Philippine ships in the West Philippine Sea.
02:21 It's worrisome because there are two elements to that.
02:25 One is that before, it was only the coast guard of China that moved in our area.
02:34 Now, there's the Navy and fishing boats.
02:38 So the situation is changing.
02:43 But it's clear for us.
02:46 We just watch of course what everybody's doing.
02:50 But really for us, we will continue.
02:53 We just defend our maritime territory.
02:57 We continue to support all of our fishermen or fisherfolk who make their living from these fishing grounds.
03:08 We will continue to help them.
03:12 Alan Francisco for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
03:16 Philippines.
