Transcript
00:00 Hello, I am here with Charlie Watts who is a digital reporter at Bristol World and we
00:06 are going to be discussing the top five news stories in the city this week. So Charlie,
00:11 can you tell us about the top story this week?
00:14 I can. So our top story this week is sadly the murder investigation that is ongoing in
00:20 Sea Mills. So a police cordon remains in place on Blaze Walk in the neighbourhood following
00:28 the death of three young children last weekend. Officers are continuing to make inquiries
00:34 into the deaths of the seven-year-old, three-year-old and my nine-month-old baby.
00:42 Thank you Charlie. So that's a really awful one for the city so far this year. So shall
00:46 we move on to our second story this week? Tell me about that.
00:50 Yes. So our next story is moving to North West where a boy from the community dreams
00:56 of being an Olympic champion after winning multiple medals in trampolining in just a
01:03 few years. So Harvey Purnell, he's 11 years old, he's been trampolining training for just
01:09 over three years now after teaching himself initially just flips and tricks at home. And
01:15 since then he's entered several competitions and has been named a national champion for
01:20 his age and level.
01:22 That's a lovely one for a young person in the city. Shall we move on to our third top
01:28 story this week? Tell me about that.
01:31 Yes. So our third top story is that a long-running fabric shop in Bedminster is set to close
01:39 and this is after the premises was put up for sale as a redevelopment opportunity. So
01:45 Calico & Co, this being on Bedminster Parade for up to 40 years I believe, is due to be
01:52 turned into nine flats and a new shop on the ground floor.
01:56 Oh, that's a real shame for a long-standing business in the city then. Shall we move on
02:02 to our next top story this week? Tell me about that.
02:06 So our next story is another closure actually and that is that the Wick store on Winterstoke
02:14 Road is due to close its doors permanently.
02:20 Thank you, Charlie. So we'll see how that one pans out then for the rest of the year.
02:25 Shall we move on to our fifth and final story this week? Tell me about that.
02:33 So our final story is that sadly with all these anti-social behaviour and incidents
02:40 going on at the moment, the latest is that two girls were hospitalised and three boys
02:46 arrested after a group of them were shooting a BB-type gun at shoppers in Cabot Circus.
02:53 That is a shocking one then for the city of Bristol this week. So that is everybody up
02:59 to date with our top five news stories in the city this week. Whatever you're doing,
03:03 have a great day.
