00:00The life and career of legendary Beatles manager Brian Epstein is being told in a new film,
00:06Midas Man.
00:07Liverpool is very much a character in the movie as well. How could it not be? I mean
00:11obviously all the people who we talk about are coming from Liverpool and are very loyal
00:15to the city and carry their experience and their families stay here and they go off and
00:19do the things that are important. We had a shot here that we included people from Liverpool,
00:23spoke to people who knew Brian and made sure that we were as authentic as possible.
00:28The film tracks how Epstein rose to prominence before his sudden death in 1967 at the age
00:34of 32. Now the new biopic, Midas Man sees Jacob Fortune Lloyd Starr in the title role
00:39as the mastermind behind the Beatles' meteoric rise.
00:42I prefer filming on location, yeah. It feels incredibly authentic and it just felt meaningful.
00:48It just felt extra special to be here and we're filming in amazing locations. We're
00:52filming in the Philharmonic pub and near Delphi and by the docks. We're filming in Toxteth
00:57on our last couple of days which was such a beautiful last couple of days. I loved it
01:02and it's right, it's another character in the film.
01:05Born in Liverpool in 1934 to Jewish parents, Epstein also played a key role in the city's
01:10wider music scene, nurturing artists including Jerry and the Pacemakers, the Moody Blues
01:15and Cilla Black.
01:16I mean it's surreal and obviously I knew that version of Cilla that you see on Blind Date
01:20and Surprise Surprise. I didn't know the kind of younger, almost like star girl Cilla
01:27who was in the 60s hobnobbing with the Rolling Stones and she was an it girl.
01:34When we built the set for The Cavern, we're on stage, we're playing in front of an audience
01:39of amazing extras who were all dancing, they all had the coat, they were all smoking and
01:45it's like you were transported back there, you were playing to the real crowd. So it's
01:52nice to get a little taste of what it must have felt like for them at that pivotal time.
01:55Midas Man will be released exclusively on Amazon Prime.
