Visitors to The Beatles Story at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool were treated to the track as it was released to the public. "Now And Then" is the last Beatles song – written and sung by John Lennon, developed and worked on by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, and now finally finished over four decades later.

00:13 And it will go down in history and hopefully it will be kept for a while.

00:24 And the song itself, just echo the Beatles, you could hear work from John, all of them,
00:30 all different parts of the music and everything like that.

00:33 The orchestra bit is what I really like.
00:34 And then I heard a little bit of the imagine sound through it.

00:52 To hear John's voice is so emotive, it is so beautiful.

01:08 John Lennon recorded a demo with vocals and piano at his home in New York in the 1970s.
01:13 Although the recording was given to the band in 1994 by Yoko Ono, technological limitations
01:20 prevented John's vocals and piano from being separated.
01:23 So it was shelved with a hope one day it would be revisited.
01:28 It's going to conjure up so many thoughts for Beatles fans across the world as well.
01:33 And for the city, you know, for places like this, the Beatles story, these guys get so
01:38 many generations of people.
01:40 And when this comes out, we're going to have a new generation of of young people listening
01:45 to the Beatles again.
01:47 Education's huge with the Beatles now.
01:49 I was part of that.
01:50 I still am part of that.
01:52 People don't realize just how much these guys have done for music.
01:55 As well as having a master's degree in the Beatles, Charlotte runs her own business offering
02:00 bespoke music tours of the city.
02:02 You know, when people come to Liverpool, they're a bit apprehensive.
02:06 But then when you take them round and you show them the sites, especially Beatles sites,
02:10 you know, their homes, Penn Lane, Strawberry Field, especially sites in town, their former
02:17 schools and areas, and everyone's like, wow, wow, this is where they were brought up.
02:23 This is where they learned their craft.
02:25 This is where they played together.
02:27 You know, Liverpool, this was their background.
02:30 This was, you know, this was their hub.
02:32 And I just think a lot of people go away.
02:36 I've had it this weekend.
02:37 A lot of people go away wanting to come back.
02:40 And that isn't when you know you've done your job.
02:43 This is just another spoke now with what the Beatles have done.
02:48 It's just incredible.
02:49 And I am, you know, yeah, I'm excited.
02:52 Thanks to the power of artificial intelligence, in 2022, Paul and Ringo set about completing
02:58 the song, which has now been shared with the world as it was always meant to be heard.
