00:00Liverpool-born Sam Quek has ditched her hockey stick in favour of some dance shoes as she
00:06participates in 2024's Strictly Come Dancing. But how do the two compare in terms of athleticism?
00:13Coming into Strictly, it's been so hard but it's been the most incredible challenge and
00:20I feel like I've proper sunk my teeth into it because I've wanted to get out there on
00:26the Saturday night and give the best account of me. I'm naturally competitive so I do want
00:31to challenge myself. I'm like fangirling everyone, especially like the dress run when you get
00:35to have a watch everyone. You're obviously all mates and you know each other but you
00:38don't really see each other, it's only on like really the Friday and Saturday. And even
00:42then you're crossing paths, you're not proper being able to catch up because you're all
00:45doing different things at different times. But yeah, I love it. And one of the best things
00:50I love is the live band, the live music. It's just spine tingling. It's icons week
00:56this week. I am a fully fledged Swifty, even more so when I went to a concert in Anfield.
01:02So I'd always been a fan of the music. It honestly just blew me away. And I think everything
01:06with what's gone on with the Southport incident and how she reacted to that. And I think Taylor
01:12Swift is, you know, we do have that connection as a city with her now. So I hope on Saturday
01:20that I can go out and perform Love Story and just do it justice really.
01:23It's so important that the public get behind you as well. But you know, in or out, that's
01:28what it is, isn't it?
01:29Yeah, well, you're talking about the scoreboard and I'm a bit of a realist as well. Like I'm
01:33never going to be the top of the scoreboard. So I've got to kind of like get the points
01:37from somewhere. But the public vote have been fantastic the last few weeks because I am
01:41having a brilliant time. I don't want to go home. I'm not ready to go home. I feel
01:44like I'm gaining confidence each week. I'm enjoying the performance aspect. And hopefully
01:50that comes across as well.
01:51With a cupboard full of sporting medals, Salma will be hoping to bring home the Strictly
01:56trophy to add to her collection.
