00:19 Well, the first thing I did in the intermission was try to find out what was happening at

00:25 I had such a great time, it felt like I was living in an actual movie.

00:33 I don't get recognised that much, but I have had a fan come up to me at a modern art museum

00:39 I've had a Japanese person go 'Oli Davis at a ramen restaurant in Tokyo' so I thought

01:26 A big AEW change coming, and my review of AEW Dynamite.

01:37 WWE reportedly, allegedly, perhaps, always had Rock vs Roman Reigns planned to main event

01:47 WrestleMania XL.

01:48 But in a change to the last, I don't know, 20 years, when the fans said 'we don't

01:54 really want that', WWE reacted by going 'oh, ok, cool, no worries, we'll do something

01:59 better'.

02:00 Their response was to turn The Rock heel, which Johnson himself has confirmed, and WrestleVotes

02:05 have reported he'll be bringing back his short-lived but much-loved Hollywood Rock

02:08 character.

02:09 And now, thanks to Johnson's own Instagram post, it seems he will be forming a two-man

02:14 power trip-esque faction with Roman Reigns.

02:18 On a video of him and Reigns alongside Paul Heyman walking out of the press conference

02:22 arena, Rock's caption reads "You f***ed around and found out quick, didn't you boy?

02:27 You and your little friends and all your crybabies have no idea what's coming.

02:32 The world's on notice."

02:34 Signed People's Champ and Tribal Chief.

02:37 This could signal either a tag team match of Rock and Reigns vs Cody and Friend for

02:41 night one of WrestleMania, with Cody vs Reigns main eventing night two, The Rock in Roman's

02:46 corner somehow, or just like WrestleMania 20 and 30 having a lone babyface go up against

02:53 two members of a heel faction - like Daniel Bryan taking on Evolutions Batista and Randy

02:58 Orton, and Triple H and Shawn Michaels going against…

03:04 Regardless of where the story goes, though, it's looking more and more likely this wasn't

03:09 the original plan.

03:11 On Tuesday, E! News released an interview with The Rock where he said he had come back

03:15 to WWE to create the biggest WrestleMania event of all time, the biggest match of all

03:21 time between myself and Roman Reigns.

03:24 It's being speculated The Rock had this interview before WWE shifted gears to make

03:29 it Reigns vs Cody.

03:31 Speaking of Cody, his Elimination Chamber plans have been revealed, because Rock and

03:35 Roman sure aren't going to be at that show.

03:37 Grayson Waller has announced on The Bump that Cody and Seth Rollins will be joining him

03:41 for a special Australian episode of the Grayson Waller effect at Elimination Chamber Perth.

03:47 The week after Elimination Chamber will see AEW's next big pay-per-view, Revolution.

03:52 And going by Tony Khan's latest big announcement, next month, in Winnipeg, AEW is going to look

03:59 significantly different in its aftermath, where he posted on X.

06:35 Kill Switch and Nick Wayne attacked Copeland, prompting a great angle of Copeland saving

06:39 Garcia, Martha Wayne low-blowing him - yes, I know she's not really called Martha Wayne,

06:44 I'm referencing a mistake I made on a podcast - and Copeland ultimately getting concerto'd.

06:49 Christian then started snogging his Valentine… which is TNT Championship.

06:56 Garcia sat angrily beside Edge's body, presumably setting him up for a programme against Christian

07:01 while Copeland sells his injury.

07:03 A good move all around, as it makes us want yet another Edge return and gives Garcia space

07:08 to continue his recent momentum.

07:10 Now I was away for a week, and I still haven't seen all of last Wednesday's Dynamite, but

07:14 Hangman's a heel now?

07:17 He brought Roderick Strong's 'Adam' energy to his in-rings segment with Swerve

07:22 and Joe, as he obsessed over Strickland never beating him the previous week.

07:26 It wasn't just that Swerve was super over, which he was, Hangman's performance felt

07:30 intentionally whiny, getting him some decent heel heat.

07:33 But the final mic drop went to Joe, who awesomely just said he's going to beat them both.

07:38 Later on, a big six man tag was announced for next week of Joe, Swerve and Brian Cage

07:43 against Hangman, RVD and Hook.

07:45 It'll be interesting to see how the more deranged Page interacts with his babyface

07:50 mates.

07:51 Toni Storm premiered her very good short film Wet Ink, which showed her getting a knife

07:55 drawn around the duck tattoo she shares with Deonna Purrazzo.

07:57 If that's a shoot edition, I commend the dedication to the bit.

08:04 Following their excellent angle to close last week's Dynamite, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson

08:09 turned up to wrestle in the same blood-drenched white suits they wore while they bludgeoned

08:14 They fought top flight in a really good match, not just because of their complementary athletic

08:19 abilities, but also because of the extra layer of character conflict.

08:23 The Jacksons are leaning into their EVP authority, meaning their younger opponents - and sometimes

08:28 even referee Rick Knox - felt like they weren't just fighting wrestlers, they were fighting

08:32 their bosses, with all the fear of repercussions that brings.

08:36 With Nick flaring up, Matt smoothing things over, and their new entrance music, the Jacksons

08:42 are wrestling's Kendall and Roman from Succession.

08:45 Knox disallowed Matt's feet on the ropes cheating, but that allowed an unseen low blow

08:49 for the Jacksons to win.

08:51 Matthew and Nicholas told Tony Schiavone afterwards they're undefeated this year, so they're

08:55 the No. 1 contenders for the tag team titles.

08:58 Which I'm unsure if that's them kayfabe exploiting their character's power, or that's

09:03 how the rankings actually work.

09:05 Because at the last look, they weren't even in the top 5.

09:12 So let's instead focus on the great angle that came afterwards.

09:16 Nick fined Schiavone $1,000 for defaming them on commentary, and then pushed him to the

09:21 When they helped him back to his knees, there was a moment where Tony was in the EVP trigger

09:26 position for a fantastic visual.

09:28 This brought out a fiery Darby Allin, who cut a brilliant workshoot promo.

09:33 He said how in the early days, the Bucks just hired all their S-Word California friends.

09:38 Darby wasn't on the first episode of Dynamite, but Brandon Cutler was?

09:42 What the F?

09:43 Thank God there was an EVP there at the time with some brains to hire Allin, and he's

09:48 not talking about Kenny Omega.

09:50 Which started a light, rather confused chant for Cody Rhodes, as the AEW fans found themselves

09:56 cheering the guy who left the company.

09:58 Darby made the tag title match official for Revolution.

10:01 RANKINGS.

10:02 This is the best non-elite storyline the Bucks have done in AEW.

10:07 A very over Will O'Night and Gale beat Sky Blue thanks to Stokely Hathaway's help.

10:11 And breaking news in the main event…

10:13 Matt Taven is awesome.

10:15 Which we all knew at least 4 years ago.

10:17 Here's him and Dalton Castle on an old WrestleTalk Podcast with no context.

10:44 Yes, the main event of Orange Cassidy vs Matt Taven in a Texas deathmatch didn't make

10:49 much sense going into this episode of Dynamite.

10:51 It wasn't Texas, I guess.

10:53 Cassidy's feuding with the Undisputed Kingdom.

10:55 But try telling that to Taven, who put on one of the most fun TV matches of the year

10:59 from outta nowhere with Cassidy.

11:01 It was mostly a story of Taven vs Tables.

11:05 The first one didn't break off his elbow drop from the stage, so he suplexed Cassidy

11:09 through it instead.

11:10 And then, in a shocking spot, Taven did a huge running senton over the top rope to crash

11:16 through a propped up table on the announce desk when Cassidy moved.

11:19 There were Valentine's Day chocolate boxes full of thumbtacks, loads of blood, Trent

11:24 pulling out a lead pipe like he's Terminator, and Taven yelling 'I'm Matt Taven' before

11:29 getting knocked out with a chain-fisted Orange Punch, letting Cassidy win as the last man

11:35 standing.

11:36 That was a terrific episode of Dynamite, the second best of the year for me at 89%.
