Glasgow headlines 6 February: Former Kelvinside student wins a Grammy

A former student of Kelvinside Academy has won a Grammy award for a song he produced from his bedroom in Glasgow.

20-year-old Blair Ferguson was nominated for five awards at the 2024 event but came out on top for best R&B song - Snooze, which he co-wrote with SZA.

Blair works under the stage name BLK Beats and has previously worked with Justin Bieber and Diddy.

Next up, A former football pitch in Cranhill is to be turned into a community garden after being taken over by a charity.

The Cranhill Development Trust will develop the spot which was previously a sports pitch for the old St Modan’s High School.

Councillors agreed to the plans, saying it was “pleasing to see it being used by the trust”.

And finally, Celtic Connections has come to an end for another year which successfully hosted over 300 events attended by more than 115,000 people.

The Glasgow festival has been hailed for becoming more diverse and adventurous every year, with this year’s edition no exception.
