Transcript
00:00 The entire mall's atrium is almost covered with this 500-foot-long dragon installation.
00:07 The dragon's entire body rotates from inside to outside the mall.
00:12 It was built in honor of the Chinese New Year and the 430th anniversary of the founding of Binondo,
00:20 the oldest Chinese town in the world.
00:24 The design was made by Filipino artist Leroy Nhu using local materials such as bamboo,
00:32 abanico, ratan, bamboo, and cinnamay.
00:36 It reflects the rich history of Binondo.
00:39 According to Nhu, this is the longest design he's ever made, which he said was only done in three weeks.
00:46 It spans more than 500 feet.
00:49 And the intent was for the dragon's tail to come out of the mall so that people can see a glimpse of it from outside,
00:57 but also to draw back the energy back into the mall.
01:00 The tail points back into one of the entrances of the mall.
01:04 The landmark structure is considered to symbolize the establishment of Binondo the Dragon.
01:10 The mall wanted this to be the main destination this Chinese New Year.
01:15 The activities are also on the line, such as the Chinese New Year Countdown,
01:19 Prosperity Fair, where you can see the collection of lucky trinkets,
01:24 and you can also enjoy the rituals inside the mall.
01:28 We all know that the dragon is a symbol of power, strength, and good fortune.
01:35 So that's what we wish for CNY 2024.
01:38 And this installation will be the main attraction of Lucky Chinatown Mall for the rest of the year.
