00:00The level of water in Magat Dam is being monitored because of the heavy rain caused by Hurricane Hiner in Cagayan Valley.
00:07Residents are being prepared for the towns that will go through the river due to the possible flood.
00:13Benjie Durango in Detail Live. Benjie?
00:17Audrey, I'm here at Naguilian Bridge.
00:20That's the bridge that you can see behind me.
00:22It's part of Naguilian or the town of Naguilian here in Mayisabela.
00:27It's only a few kilometers away from the town of Mayisabela where Hurricane Hiner passed earlier this morning.
00:34I'll just show you the situation here in our location for now, Audrey.
00:42It's still dark and rainy here, signal number one.
00:47Under that tree is the Cagayan River that is being monitored by the authorities.
00:53Due to the impact of Hurricane Hiner here in Cagayan Valley,
00:56there is no access to schools in Cagayan, Mayisabela, Nuevo Vizcaya, and Querino.
01:02Aside from the heavy rain and wind,
01:05Magat Dam is being monitored now even though its water level is only at 186.72.
01:12It's lower than the normal high of 190 meters above sea level.
01:16Two gates of the dam are open at the moment.
01:19It produces 858.72 cubic meters per second
01:24which is the amount of water that falls into the Cagayan River.
01:28Audrey, how much is this 858.72 CMS?
01:33It can fill two large swimming pools in just 1.2 seconds.
01:39It's not felt in Cagayan River yet but
01:43when heavy rain falls on the mountains of Sierra Madre and Cordillera,
01:49the amount of water produced will increase.
01:52The problem is that some places in Cagayan River may be affected.
01:57Some barangays in Lungsodang Kawayan and Ilagan,
02:02in the town of Rojas, Alicia, Gamu, and Angadanan.
02:08But NIA Maris clarified that Magat Dam is still within the safe limit
02:13but the alert level is high in Cagayan River
02:16and in its tributaries.
02:18It is expected to gradually increase in the next few hours
02:22and authorities should be prepared to issue a warning.
02:29Audrey, that's the update from Naguilian.
02:32Isabella, back to you, Audrey.
02:34Okay, take care. Benji Durango, thank you very much.
