00:00The number of cases of dengue in the country has increased due to the rainy season,
00:05while the number of cases of mpax has increased.
00:07BN Manalo is the reporter.
00:12The Department of Health confirmed that there are 18 cases of mpax in the Philippines since last month.
00:20Of these, 5 have recovered while 13 are still isolated.
00:2511 are from the National Capital Region, 6 from Calabarzon, and 1 from Cagayan Valley.
00:33Secretary Herbosa clarified that the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has not yet approved a vaccine against mpax.
00:41Our testing continues.
00:43We continue to let people know how you get this.
00:48We've also started to disseminate information to all local chief executives, barangay officials, and business owners.
00:56Meanwhile, the number of cases of dengue in the country has increased to 68% since last year, according to the Health Department.
01:04Secretary Herbosa clarified that this is also due to the beginning of the rainy season.
01:10It's the season of dengue.
01:11As you know, when the bear months and monsoons come, the number of cases increases.
01:17And the trend is continuously increasing.
01:20Last month, the trend was still 25%.
01:24So we are really warning our countrymen about the disease of dengue.
01:30As of now, there are more than 208,000 cases of dengue in the country.
01:35Some regions are also under the state of calamity due to more than 40% dengue cases in the area.
01:42These include Region 3, Region 6, and Region 7.
01:46Because of this, the Health Department is working hard to open the hospitals of the people who carry dengue or AIDES-AGP.
01:56This includes the implementation of vector control, which will reduce the number of people infected with dengue.
02:02We are distributing larbicide and adulticide to our regional offices
02:09to reduce the number of people infected with dengue.
02:13It is also important to look for those who are infected with dengue,
02:17such as old tires, piles, and housewarming.
02:22But despite the increase in the number of cases of dengue,
02:26the DOH decided to lower the fatality rate.
02:30In fact, the fatality rate dropped to 0.26% from 0.39% last year.
02:38The number of people infected with dengue is increasing rapidly.
02:43The government continues to urge the public to maintain a clean environment
02:49to prevent the death of dengue.
02:52BN Manalo for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
