00:00 And we're here on day three of Beef Week with Stuart Hindy from Oak Point Spurkle Park stud at Leesendale.
00:07 Welcome Stuart. Tell us a little bit about, this is your first time being open for Beef Week, tell us a little bit about how you got into Spurkle Parks.
00:15 Thanks for that Catherine. Yeah so I got into Spurkle in 2018.
00:20 You know, started with the breed, importing some embryos and trying to do some flushing and genetics and things like that.
00:28 Yeah, after sort of seeing them in New South Wales about 10 years ago was the first time I saw them.
00:33 So when I was on the first run there, I really liked the breed up there then.
00:36 I thought, well I want to go home on the farm until I really start to get into them and go from there.
00:41 And since then you've obviously, you mentioned you've been buying embryos and genetics from everywhere.
00:47 Just tell us a little bit about that.
00:49 Yeah, so I've bought some embryos from Canada as well as some semen from Canada as well.
00:54 As well as some semen from New Zealand as well as sourcing Australian genetics and live animals as well.
01:00 So you're really trying to support the breed and trying to build the breed race in South Australia.
01:06 Excellent. And first time for Beef Week, you've got some bulls here for sale. You've sold one.
01:12 I mean, tell us about why you wanted to be part of Beef Week.
01:15 Well as a new breed, a new start starting up, I thought it was a good chance for us to really promote ourselves.
01:22 As a stud and really trying to build a numbers in South Australia.
01:27 Because there's not too many speckled studs that are participating in the field.
01:31 So it's a good way to help promote the breed itself.
01:33 And how's the day been so far?
01:35 It's been good so far. So you've had a steady flow of visitors come through.
01:39 Lots of you sold a bull already, which has been good.
01:42 The weather's been nice today as compared to the last couple of days, which is a blessing.
01:46 So yeah, it's been good.
01:48 Excellent. Thanks very much, G.
01:49 Thanks, Katherine.
