Mick and Krystal Lines, Redwood Range Speckle Park, talk all things Beef Week. Video by Kiara Stacey.
Transcript
00:00 Mick Lines and Crystal Lines from Redwood Range Speckled Park located at
00:05 Auburn in the Clare Valley. How long have you been breeding cattle? We've been breeding cattle for almost 10 years but Speckled Park since about 2018-2019 and
00:15 started the stud in I think it was 2019. Beautiful and how long have you been part of Beef Week? We've been part of Beef Week for the last three years, enjoyed every year and
00:29 enjoyed having a whole bunch of people come through every year to see what we're up to. Why do you do it? For the publicity, to get our name out there as much as possible so people know more about not just us also but also the breed. There's plenty of interest in Speckled Park so it's nice to share some of that know-how with other people.
00:48 What traits are you focusing on? We're focusing on structure, making sure structure is correct. As we're getting more and more females we're happy with their structure. We're focusing on more things like IMF, trying to get IMF up and scrotum in bulls and still maintaining that good structure.
01:12 We're trying to keep the more framey, growthy end of Speckled Park. Speckled Park is quite a moderate framed animal and so we're trying to keep frame sizes and growth rates up where the industry wants them and where they expect them.
01:28 What have you got available for sale? We've got a range of bulls on offer today and moving forward, working age bulls from 17 months to 23 months. Bulls that we're really happy with. We've also got a range of commercial heifers that we would be happy to sell by negotiation.
01:51 Thanks for coming, Ciara. Nice to see you here. Everyone's welcome.
