Brian Smith and Alex Donno discuss Miami's coaching staff traveling all over the Southeast this past week on recruiting trips.
Transcript
00:00 Of all the states and all the high schools in America, you're at a certain high school in Alabama
00:05 visiting and talking to players, and then you come to find out Jason Taylor happens to be on his way
00:12 later that day to that high school. Yeah, Enterprise Alabama is in southeastern Alabama,
00:18 and it's pretty remote, but they've got two elite players. Sometimes it just goes in cycles,
00:23 one of which is somebody that Miami fans will probably hear about if they haven't already,
00:27 Zion Grady. He's an edge defender, 6'4", 225, obviously fits the profile for what Jason is
00:33 looking for. He was coming in at 215, so I had to get there before Jason did so the coach could be
00:40 with him. I got there at like 12, 31 o'clock, so I beat Jason there. That same school earlier that
00:46 day, I was in between because Kirby Smart from Georgia had flown in on his helicopter.
00:51 It's one of those programs. Yeah, Miami though, you don't think of Miami recruiting rural
00:56 Alabama, rural Mississippi and stuff like that. Caleb Cunningham, who I'll talk about here in a
01:01 little bit, kid from Mississippi is getting ready to visit. He's from rural Mississippi.
01:05 Those kids, Miami is putting in the work, and this is all back-to-back top 10 classes.
01:12 To be honest with you, probably top five that are balanced classes.
01:16 Seeing that early on for the 25 and 26 kids, there's some 26 kids that are offering if you
01:22 check Twitter and whatnot. I tell you what, it's impressive to me because not many staffs really
01:28 want to do it. It's a pretty big collection of guys. If you go look at the tweets, when a kid
01:33 makes a comment, they talk about the coaches directly, whether it's Mario, whether it's Jason,
01:38 whether it's Woodall, whatever the guy is that's at the school that day, wherever it's at, they get
01:43 a lot of attention. Mario was in Chicago, he was in Cincinnati, he's been in Georgia yesterday,
01:48 etc. These are really good signs for Miami's future.
