Alex Donno breaks down the Miami Hurricanes 2024 football schedule.
Transcript
00:00 So let's take a look at this beauty.
00:01 Miami hurricanes put out this graphic on their X account yesterday.
00:05 So the hurricanes open up their season.
00:08 This is one we've been waiting for.
00:10 We knew this was coming though.
00:11 August 31st, the hurricanes will play away at the Florida Gators.
00:15 First meeting since 2019 back in Orlando, Miami lost that one, but the hurricanes
00:21 do lead the all time series with Florida 29, 27.
00:25 This one is notable for so many reasons, including the fact that it's projected
00:29 to be the Miami debut for new starting quarterback, Cam Ward, the prize
00:34 acquisition of the off season is going to take the field and orange and green
00:38 officially for the first time going up against the Florida Gators.
00:41 That's going to be so much fun.
00:42 So after the Florida game on the road, hurricanes will be home
00:47 September 7th against Florida A&M.
00:49 They'll be home September 14th against Ball State.
00:54 Needless to say, those should be two consecutive wins, no matter what
00:57 happens in the Florida game, which I think Miami could also win that Florida game.
01:00 Uh, Saturday, September 21st, Miami is going to be away at South Florida.
01:07 Uh, so you're not going to be leaving the state of Florida for a long time.
01:12 Cause even the week after that, the hurricanes on Friday, September 27th,
01:16 you're going to be home against Virginia tech.
01:19 That's the only weeknight game of the season.
01:21 That's a Friday night.
01:22 Uh, Miami versus the Hokies, by the way, has once again, become
01:26 a protected annual matchup.
01:28 The ACC had taken the annual away from it last year.
01:32 They realized they goofed and it's now a protected annual matchup once again.
01:36 So folks, if you look at those first five games, uh, Gainesville in Miami, in Miami,
01:42 in Tampa, and then back in Miami, you don't even leave the state of Florida
01:47 until Saturday, October 5th, when you go away at Cal now, I know Cal, you're
01:54 probably not as familiar with them.
01:55 They're coming into the ACC for the first time.
01:57 They've got a really good running back.
01:59 Jaden Ott 1300 plus rushing yards, 12 touchdowns last year.
02:03 And of course, going out West could be tricky.
02:06 Miami has their first, yes, they have two bi-weeks first of two bi-weeks after that.
02:10 So Saturday, October 12th, Miami does not play then Saturday, October 19th.
02:15 This is going to be a really tough one.
02:17 I think this is one of the two toughest games on the schedule.
02:20 October 19th, Miami is away at Louisville, an important revenge game.
02:25 Of course, from last year, this is the type of game that could be decisive
02:29 potentially for being one of the top two records in the ACC, uh, then Saturday,
02:34 October 26th, you've got the whole matchup against Florida state.
02:38 That's a tough stretch folks.
02:41 You have to go back to back from Louisville to Florida state, Louisville
02:46 away, Florida state at home.
02:47 You look at that two game stretch that could make or break Miami season, right?
02:52 If you go, Oh, and two in that stretch.
02:54 Oh my gosh.
02:55 I don't even want to, I don't even want to know what those shows are going to be.
02:57 Like you go to a note, you're on top of the world.
03:00 You go one and one, I guess we split the difference.
03:02 Also going back to that Louisville game.
03:04 Uh, you, you note that that's coming after the bi-week Miami has not historically
03:09 played very well coming off of bi-week.
03:11 So you keep your fingers crossed that, uh, that that one works out a little
03:15 bit better than previous bi-weeks have.
03:17 So after the Florida state game, another important one, Saturday, November 2nd,
03:22 you're hosting Duke Manny Diaz is now the head coach of Duke Malik Murphy.
03:26 Now they're quarterback.
03:27 That's a big showdown.
03:28 That's a must win game for our fan base.
03:30 Can you imagine the implosion?
03:32 Can you imagine the reaction and the implosion?
03:35 If Miami doesn't beat Manny Diaz and Duke at home, I would imagine Miami would be
03:42 heavily favored in that game, but stranger things have happened as we know.
03:46 Uh, then you've got another by, or sorry, I skipped the game.
03:50 Uh, after the Duke game, you've got November 9th away at Georgia Tech.
03:54 Please this time, take the knee.
03:56 If you have the opportunity to do so, then you've got your second bi-week is the
04:00 weekend of Saturday, November 16th.
04:02 Coming off that bi-week your home against Wake Forest, and then your home against
04:08 Syracuse wrapping up the regular season on November 30th.
