00:00 Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
00:09 and the Vice President and Concurrent Secretary of the Department of Education, Honorable Sara Z. Madero.
00:18 We will bravely take the challenge of sustaining our actions in our matatag agenda.
00:26 Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Basic Education Report 2024.
00:32 In our commitment to make our curriculum relevant to produce competent, job-ready, active, and responsible citizens,
00:42 we have launched the Matatag K-10 curriculum.
00:47 We have de-congested the curriculum to focus on the development of foundational skills.
00:55 I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated in the public consultation.
01:02 Insights gathered from the public were truly valuable in finalizing the revised curriculum.
01:10 After all, this is not simply a DEPED curriculum.
01:18 This is the Basic Education Curriculum of the Philippines.
01:24 This is the curriculum that we expect to raise the youth as new Filipinos.
01:31 New Filipinos with discipline, integrity, compassion for others, and love for the country.
01:41 The milestones achieved so far deserve our congratulations.
01:46 Thank you very much, Vice President Inday Sala.
01:49 [Applause]
01:52 You should also be proud of the traditional programs,
01:56 such as the Alternative Learning System classes targeted to the old-schoolers.
02:01 Learning, like now, has no past before today.
02:05 There are other bold but bespoke programs worth commending for indigenous people, for farm schools, for Muslim children, just to name a few.
02:15 The times are changing, so we need to change our way of thinking,
02:21 not just in our teachings, but in all our projects and infrastructures.
