UN condemns death of World Food Program aid workers in Sudan  The UN condemned on Dec. 20, 2024 the death of three World Food Program aid workers in Sudan. The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) said that three of its staff were killed in war-torn Sudan's Blue Nile state on Dec. 19 after an aerial strike on its compound. WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain demanded a thorough investigation and for the perpetrators to be held accountable, Dujarric said. In a statement the Sudanese government expressed its condolences for the deaths, and condemned any attack on aid workers or the UN It said it would investigate the incident but added that the army did not have any activities in the area. 00:19The Secretary General sends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and their World

00:24Food Program colleagues.

00:26The Secretary General condemns all attacks on the United Nations and aid personnel, as

00:31well as aid facilities.

00:32He calls for a thorough investigation.

00:35...including markets and bakeries are interrupted as food prices...

00:42Cindy McCain, the Executive Director of the World Food Program, said we are urgently working

00:47to establish the circumstances around this appalling incident.

00:50She also demanded a thorough investigation and for the perpetrators to be held to account.

00:55...is expected to reconvene for the adoption of the draft resolution...

01:02Yesterday's incident underscores the devastating toll Sudan's brutal conflict is having on

01:08millions of people in need and on the humanitarians trying to reach them with life-saving assistance.

01:142024 is the deadliest year for aid workers on record.

01:21In Sudan, that is.

01:24The Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reports that...

01:30As a reminder, Sudan is a country where 4.7 million children, as well as lactating and

01:36pregnant women, are facing acute malnutrition.

01:40The Secretary-General calls on all the parties to adhere to their obligations to protect

01:44civilians, including aid personnel, as well as humanitarian premises and supplies.
