Joe Buck reacts to Newcastle United's 3-2 defeat to Manchester City at St James' Park. Brilliant goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon almost gave Eddie Howe's side a win but strikes from Kevin De Bruyne and a late Oscar Bobb winner gave Pep Guardiola's side all three points.

00:00 So Newcastle United fall to a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, actually being beaten
00:06 3-2 by Manchester City here at St James' Park.
00:09 Oscar Bobbs, 90th minute win, I just didn't end your time and secured the win for Man
00:15 City on a day that Newcastle will be bitterly disappointed to get beat.
00:18 You know, coming into the game off the back of that win against Sunderland last week,
00:23 there was maybe not expectations that they'd get a win, but with a week's training behind
00:27 them you thought they would put up a good fight and to be fair, they did.
00:31 They really looked like they had a week's training behind them, something they hadn't
00:34 had all year really.
00:35 And you know, they went behind early on but they regrouped, and then two brilliant counter-attacks,
00:41 got them first level and then obviously it got 2-1, Alexander.
00:45 Isaac with the first one, it was a fantastic ball by Bruno Kimarres.
00:49 He just knew Isaac was going to be there and without looking, pinged this ball over the
00:54 top of the defence, a couple of bounces, Isaac took it inside and he knew he was going to
00:58 go inside.
00:59 Kyle Walker, one of the best defenders in the Premier League, knew he was going to go
01:01 inside and yet Isaac still managed to find the yardage space and he curls it into the
01:05 top corner, give Ortega no chance with that.
01:07 And then two minutes later, after Man City, to be fair, go up the other end to Bravka,
01:11 put up a good save.
01:13 Minutely after that, Anthony Gordon is let go down the left and he manages to do pretty
01:18 much the same thing as Alexander Isaac does.
01:20 He came in on his right again, passed and shot in the far corner.
01:24 Nikasa went in at half-time, 2-1 ahead and they were really good, value for that.
01:28 Man City had their chances, Nikasa were clinical on the counter-attack and did really, really
01:33 well in that first half.
01:34 It was a really, really good first-half performance and a bit reminiscent of them in this game
01:38 last year where they drew 3-3 in that game.
01:40 But they were very good and they really took the game to Man City at times.
01:43 They didn't show fear, they weren't over-rowed by facing the treble winners and Pep Guardiola
01:48 was very frustrated there.
01:49 Unfortunately, in the second half, I think they got tired as the game went on.
01:55 That's another game where they had pretty much 11 first-team players, very little on
01:58 the bench to call from, very little in the attacking sense certainly to call from.
02:02 Lewis Full was their only substitute introduced.
02:07 Man City did what they do best, they stayed in the game, they created chances.
02:10 Kevin De Bruyne's introduction obviously made all the difference for them.
02:14 When you can call on someone like Kevin De Bruyne's quality off the bench, that's a level
02:18 between the two sides.
02:20 He scored their equaliser, it was a brilliant finish at the bottom corner and then he set
02:24 up Oscar Bob's winner with a fantastic cross from deep.
02:28 It was one of those days where, like many times up in Man City, you've just got to marvel
02:32 at Kevin De Bruyne and how good he is.
02:34 Another one that you feel frustrated for Newcastle, I think you feel that Newcastle probably deserved
02:40 it.
02:41 They deserved something out of the game, they performed very well and it's an absolute shame
02:43 that they didn't.
02:44 You know what, it's four defeats now in a row and Newcastle really have to do something.
02:49 Their top four dreams, Champions League dreams are really slipping away from them.
02:56 European football is now going to be very hard to get and they've now got a big team
03:00 like this, obviously they've defeated Man City but now they've got to go to Aston Villa
03:03 in a couple of weeks' time.
03:04 They've got to get a result there, you can feel that game against Fulham in the FA Cup,
03:08 although it's an FA Cup game, that's another huge game for them.
03:11 These games can't keep slipping by.
03:12 You think today was probably their last free hit of the season.
03:16 They've played Liverpool two times now, they've played Man City twice, now you think they've
03:20 got to go and not win every game certainly because they'll do that, that'll be amazing
03:24 and impossible but they've got 17 games left, they've got to win the majority of them to
03:28 give themselves a chance of finishing among their European places and really trying to
03:33 end the season positively because it's been a tough month or so for them.
03:36 It's short on the pitch there is, they're slowly getting back to what they can be and
03:41 what we hope this Eddie Howe team can be because they showed at the beginning of the season
03:44 how good they can be, injuries of course have depleted them and decimated their squad and
03:47 chances.
03:48 Hopefully a couple of them come back and Newcastle can really get back to being a brilliant front
03:55 foot, energetic team because they showed that in the first half, they're just tired after
03:58 60 minutes as we've seen in many games in the recent past.
04:01 So yeah, it's a disappointing result for Newcastle, lots of positive value I would take out of
04:05 the game.
04:06 There'll be no doubt some total points following the game.
04:09 Bruno Easy could have shown two yellow cards, Roger could have easily been booked, he could
04:17 have seen two, again a couple of VAR calls, an offside one early on which was clearly
04:24 offside but then a hard ball right at the end where Newcastle felt they could have.
04:28 There'll be some things to dissect after the game but I think Eddie Howe will be largely
04:31 positive although again as I mentioned that's another defeat for Newcastle and another game
04:36 that's really passing by and they've gone out two weeks off before their next game against
04:42 Fulham and they've got to have a really good few games with Villa, Luton, Bournemouth,
04:47 Arsenal all that are coming in the next month or so.
04:50 So it's going to be a big month to go but Newcastle will need to regroup from this after
04:55 a battling performance against Man City and really hope that they can get back to their
04:59 best over the next month and really show why they want and deserve to be in Europe next
05:04 year.
