Ladies In Charge - Ep 5 (The Shadow) (1986)

Ep 5: The Shadow. When a woman is too scared to enter the Ladies Agency, Diana runs after her to find out more. She eventually tracks the woman down to a cafe, where she will only say that she is being followed by a mysterious stranger who she believes to be her dead husband, before then running off. Diana finds out from the War Office that the woman's husband fought went missing in action in WW1, believed dead. But if the mysterious shadow isn't the husband, who is it?

Starring Carol Royle, Julia Swift and Julia Hills, with guest stars including early roles for Hugh Grant and Nigel Le Valliant, plus Lavinia Bertram, Graham Chinn, Terence Hardiman, Tracy Blackender, Andrew Wilde, James Garbutt, Vera Jakob, Jenny Bolt and Noel Coleman. This is from my own collection, and was originally a one off drama shown on the anthology series Storyboard in 1985. It is a part mystery/ part drama series, but this episode feels more the former at times. It only ran for one series in 1986, and as such has rarely been repeated since on TV.
