00:44 in case you were wondering Miami, yeah, they still are, you know, looking potentially for a transfer
00:49 portal quarterback, but at this point they haven't found anyone and Ja'Kari Brown wants to stay
00:54 around and compete. And he fully understands the situation. Okay. Like Brown fully understands that
01:00 despite Miami apparently missing out on Cam Ward to the NFL draft, even though Miami doesn't have
01:07 anybody right now, they still are looking probably for a one year graduate transfer for 2024.
01:14 Here's a part of the great report from David Lake at Inside the U. And I give Lake his props because
01:22 he was the first person to report yesterday evening that Brown is staying at Miami. He was
01:27 the first person to report that for Miami's 24/7 site. He says Brown will be a red shirt sophomore
01:34 in 2024. He is returning to Miami with the understanding that the program is still searching
01:40 for a transfer portal quarterback this season, but he continues. Brown is embracing the competition
01:47 for playing time in 2024 with the understanding that if he continues to develop, he has a chance
01:53 to compete for the starting job in 2025. So Brown understands that if you stay here, you have to
01:59 compete, you have to earn it. Not only does he have a lot of potential at six foot four, 230 pounds,
02:07 dual threat quarterback. I've been pretty impressed. He's still a work in progress when it
02:13 comes to being the pure quarterback and the pure passer. But I have been impressed with where
02:18 Jakari has been able to take his game as a passer from last year as a true freshman into the spring
02:25 game last year, where he didn't have a very good showing. I thought he made some really big time
02:29 throws in the pinstripe bowl. A couple more details and analytics on what Jakari Brown was
02:34 able to do in the pinstripe bowl. And again, obviously a work in progress. If Jakari was
02:38 great, Miami maybe would have won the pinstripe bowl. But these are from pro football focus,

02:51 According to pro football focus, he completed two out of four deep shots for 52 yards and one
02:56 touchdown. And folks don't forget he completed two out of four deep shots. The first deep shot that
03:01 he threw was a dime that Jacoby George dropped. That should have been a 75 yard touchdown. So
03:07 he should have been three of four on deep shots. Brown completed 16 of 25 passes for 149 yards with
03:15 one touchdown and one interception when he was kept clean by Miami's protection up front. When
03:20 Brown had to deal with pressure, he completed five of seven passes for 46 yards while taking just one
03:27 sack. So that's pretty impressive. The way and obviously his mobility, his ability to extend
03:32 plays. When you have someone who is athletic as Jakari Brown, he's able to give you options
03:37 even when the pocket breaks down. So I'm happy he's staying. We got this text message from one
03:44 of our Locked on Canes insiders who makes a lot of sense about Jakari. He says, "Hey, this news
03:50 about Brown is more positive than people are going to give it credit for. He's got high upside and we
03:56 desperately need as much competition in that room as possible, especially if we miss on what I would
04:01 consider the top tier transfer portal quarterbacks." And that's a great point. And let me add to that.
04:06 I agree with you about how much upside Brown has. And guys, if Jakari Brown had left Miami,
04:12 if he had hit the transfer portal, ends up somewhere else and he hits that upside at another
04:17 place and turns into a stud, Miami fans a year or two down the road would be absolutely livid
04:23 about losing this guy.
