00:00 >> I'm a big Fort Gettys fan, of course, but then yes,
00:03 I have some family members that's a big time for the state fan.
00:07 And I just told the coaches, we gotta beat, we gotta beat for the state.
00:11 And I'm like, I don't want any loss to them, just like,
00:14 maybe it's not the best for me.
00:16 >> Xavier mentioned how the loss, people saying fire Napier,
00:20 you may not be here, the whole future is when guys entering the portal.
00:25 But that all kind of all at the same time just made a lot of guys maybe have some
00:30 cool feet, like maybe this is the time instead of waiting to sign.
00:34 >> Exactly. >> And then having to get in the portal,
00:36 that type of thing, was that your thinking as well?
00:37 >> Yeah, that was my thing as well, a little bit about it.
00:39 It's just like, no, Miami was the best fit for me.
00:44 So I feel like that's where it's gonna be at the next couple years.
00:48 >> Yeah, did you end up telling the Gators coaches you were decommitting?
00:50 Did you tell the Miami coaches, or did you just wait until signing day?
00:53 How did it kind of go down?
00:54 >> So the day before I signed, I got on the phone with Coach Damon,
00:57 I told him, I would love to take the time out to think about my decision.
01:04 And I told him I would be decommitting from them, and
01:07 I would make a verbal commit on, well, official commit on my signing day.
01:12 >> Okay, so you told Miami coaches that?
01:14 >> Yeah.
01:14 >> Did you tell Florida coaches anything, or you just-
01:16 >> I told them that too.
01:17 >> You called them, what was that like having to tell them the news?
01:21 >> It was kinda sad, but at the same time,
01:24 it's just like I gotta do what's best for me and my future.
01:28 >> Yeah, did they try to keep you, did they fight for you, what did they say?
01:31 >> They tried to keep me, they tried to fight for me.
01:33 But I told them where I went as far as a position level and as far as for my future.
01:39 >> Yeah, and it was really during the visit.
01:41 Was there something that happened specifically during the visit at all?
01:43 >> No, it wasn't.
01:45 >> Okay, it was just like the whole, it was like a wave maybe.
01:48 >> Yeah, it was a whole wave.
01:49 It really was like this, so.
01:52 >> And do you know who you're rooming with yet at Miami?
01:54 >> No, I don't.
01:55 >> Okay.
01:55 >> Probably Bobby, but I don't know.
01:57 >> Bobby Washington, okay.
01:58 >> Yeah.
01:59 >> Best of luck to you there, though.
02:00 >> Yes, sir, appreciate it.
02:01 >> Thank you.
02:01 >> Nice meeting you.
02:02 >> Nice meeting you too.
02:02 >> Yes, sir.
02:03 Go Kings.
02:03 >> [LAUGH] >> What is the biggest reason that you
02:07 picked Miami, besides obviously there's turmoil in Gainesville, that's not-
02:11 >> Yeah.
02:12 >> I mean, what was the biggest selling point maybe for the University of Miami?
02:16 >> The big selling point, I just feel like, like I said, the coaching staff and
02:21 the atmosphere is just like something that amazes me as a player.
02:24 And I feel like Miami coaches really do care about their players.
02:27 >> That's important.
02:30 Which coach spearheaded your recruitment?
02:32 Like was it an assistant?
02:33 Was it Mario?
02:34 Which coach? >> It was an assistant, which was coach
02:36 Sav Joseph.
02:38 And then Coach D-Nick, cuz he was at Louisville, he tried to get me at Louisville.
02:43 And then also when he came to Miami, I told him, I'm looking at Miami as well.
02:46 And just like, they wanted me.
02:48 And I feel like that's best for me.
