Running back TreVonte' Citizen will be available to play in the Pinstripe Bowl when the Miami Hurricanes face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Transcript
00:00 Mario Cristobal had his pregame comments today ahead of the pinstripe bowl tomorrow, 2 15 PM
00:05 Miami hurricanes against Rutgers and Mario Cristobal confirmed.
00:09 Trevante citizen will be available to play for the canes tomorrow. And guys, I, I've been
00:18 following Mario's canes for long enough to know that when Cristobal says somebody's available,
00:24 that doesn't guarantee that person's going to play. Okay. So it's like,
00:28 I don't want to get too excited, but at the same time, it's going out of his way to talk about
00:34 Trevante citizen folks. I would love nothing more than to see citizen, get some carries and get some
00:40 reps in the pinstripe bowl. You know, for those who just haven't really followed Trevante citizen,
00:46 this was a class of 2022 Miami hurricane, Sine four-star running back, excellent player stud
00:52 out of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Uh, and you know, when I haven't had the pleasure of watching
00:58 Trevante play in college, no one has, but coming out of high school and seeing Trevante in practice,
01:03 seeing him up close, he's built like an NFL back. Like he's got that size and he's got that
01:09 stature. He's had terrible luck with injuries, had a serious knee injury his freshman year at a
01:13 setback. He's been in college two years, two years. Trevante citizen has been a Miami hurricane.
01:20 We haven't been able to watch him play yet. Now there were a couple games late in the season,
01:25 this regular season where he went through warmups. So we know he'd been making progress during the
01:32 regular season, getting closer to being ready. We also know that Miami's coaching staff was being
01:37 super cautious with him given his injury history. They were not trying to rush him back. It sounds
01:43 like he's actually ready. So yeah, another reason why, man, I'm looking at Miami plus two and a half
01:49 for tomorrow. And I look at that running back rotation, right? Mark Fletcher, Henry Parrish,
01:55 AJ Allen, all expected to play in the bowl game and Trevante citizen apparently healthy enough to
02:01 play and get some work in Miami's running back rotation could be looking really nice tomorrow.
02:06 And I think, you know, I think we can all agree that we would really, really like to see Trevante
02:11 citizen get his first carries as a Miami hurricane. And yeah, Chalupa you're right. I think people
02:17 forget how good he was coming out of high school. It's easy to forget because we literally have not
02:23 seen him play in college. Now he was tearing it up in fall camp before his original injury. And
02:29 like, I remember like Trevante citizen was turning heads, people like, dang, this guy could play as
02:34 a, you know, we just saw Mark Fletcher get a lot of playing time as a true freshman that could have
02:40 been Trevante citizen. Had he not suffered that injury, Trevante citizen could have had the type
02:44 of freshman season that Mark Fletcher just had. So I really hope that we can see that coming up
02:50 in this bowl game.
