00:00 Hello, there. Welcome to your morning weather from the Met Office. It is unsettled through
00:05 the day ahead as Storm Gerrit moves in from the Atlantic, bringing strong winds, heavy
00:10 rain, outbreaks of snow for Scotland as well. Met Office warnings in force for much of the
00:14 country over the next 24 hours, staying unsettled as we move into Thursday as well. So, let's
00:22 take a look at the details for the day ahead. Cloudy and wet across much of the country.
00:28 Rain will be heavy at times as we move through the day. It slowly pushes north and eastwards.
00:32 Expect some travel disruption across the country with some surface spray on the roads. Very
00:37 windy too. Gusts of 40 to 50 miles an hour locally, 60 to 70 around some southern and
00:43 western coasts. As the rain bumps into the cold air across Scotland, we could see 10
00:47 to 20 centimetres over the higher ground. This combined with the very strong winds,
00:51 60 miles an hour plus, we could see blizzards in places too. Something a little drier trying
00:57 to come into Northern Ireland ahead of some really blustery showers moving in later on
01:02 into the evening. Very mild across England and Wales but with the cloud, the rain, the
01:06 strong winds, it will feel cooler than the numbers suggest and temperatures struggling
01:11 over the higher ground of Scotland. Remaining very unsettled into the evening. The main
01:16 rain clears but then really heavy blustery showers push across the country. Squally conditions
01:21 developing, very gusty winds with these showers and overnight staying unsettled too. Very
01:27 strong winds continuing across northern Scotland, heavy snow for Shetland as well. Warnings
01:32 remaining in force here. And temperatures with the blustery winds around and the showers
01:36 won't fall too low, generally 6 to 10 Celsius for England and Wales, a little lower across
01:42 Northern Ireland and Scotland. For Thursday, it remains unsettled. Blustery
01:47 showers right across the country, organising themselves, give some bands of heavy rain
01:52 as we move through into the afternoon, particularly across parts of England and Wales. So this
01:56 could lead to some tricky travelling conditions as well. But blustery showers right across
02:01 the country, frequent and heavy across the north-west too, combined with some strong
02:06 and gusty winds. So the winds are a little less strong compared to Wednesday. Temperatures
02:11 down a little, 7 to 9 across the north of the UK, still 11 or 12 in the south. So there
02:17 is very unsettled weather over the next 24 hours or so right across the UK. So if you
02:23 are travelling, do take extra care. And for further information, you can follow us on
02:28 our YouTube and on our social media channels. See you soon.
