00:14:17 'Cause if you gotta tell people,

00:14:33 How many of you,
00:14:34 if you are honest and consistently yourself,

00:14:53 So even when you're tired,
00:14:55 my word is always like, "Get up, let's go, keep going."
00:14:58 That's how I'm able to get a foothold in ministry
00:15:01 is because I'm not trying to deal hope like this preacher,
00:15:04 and I'm not trying to hoop and holler every Sunday
00:15:07 like this preacher.
00:15:08 I just get up and find tired people to say,
00:15:10 "Don't give up and don't be weary and well-doing
00:15:13 "for in due season, you will reap a harvest if you fain not."
00:15:17 And because I know what my UPS is, or USP,
00:15:21 I bring it to bear in every message at some point in time.
00:15:25 One of the greatest personal UPSs I've ever heard
00:15:28 from somebody was like, I asked them,
00:15:29 "What was their unique selling proposition, USP?"
00:15:31 And they said, "My destiny is to help you find yours."
00:15:35 What is in your journal and your notebook
00:15:43 about yourself, what is your brand?
00:15:48 And a brand is not a logo, a brand is a promise
00:15:53 that you will consistently deliver.
00:15:56 What is your personal brand?
00:15:57 What do I get when I get you?
00:15:59 And if your brand or your personality is inconsistent,
00:16:04 no wonder you don't have consistent customers
00:16:09 and offers and opportunities,
00:16:13 because you have to be consistent for people to trust you.
00:16:17 Are you listening to me?
00:16:22 Popeye's gotta taste the same every time you go.
00:16:27 If it don't taste the same every time you go,
00:16:28 what do you say?
00:16:30 You don't stop eating Popeye's,
00:16:31 what do you say, I ain't going to that Popeye's no more
00:16:34 'cause they don't know what they doing.
00:16:36 Who am I talking to so far?
00:16:42 Now, why did I bring all of that up?
00:16:45 Because in the days of Jesus,
00:16:47 Jesus had a perceived unique selling proposition.
00:16:51 And the unique selling proposition of Jesus was,
00:16:54 if you met him, he would do it immediately.
00:16:58 That was his USP, immediate.
00:17:02 Woman with the issue of blood for 12 years,
00:17:05 she met Jesus and she was healed.
00:17:09 Man laid on the bed for 38 years, met Jesus,
00:17:13 and immediately he did what?
00:17:14 Picked up his bed and walked.
00:17:16 Jesus shows up to a wedding feast at Cane of Galilee.
00:17:19 They've been drinking wine all day.
00:17:21 Everybody's drunk, they put water in the water pots.
00:17:24 Jesus shows up and somewhere between them
00:17:26 filling it up with water and Jesus getting near
00:17:29 the water pots, by the time they looked in it, it was what?
00:17:31 Wine, because Jesus' unique selling proposition,
00:17:35 at least perceived was, that if you met Jesus,
00:17:39 you was going to leave with something immediately.
00:17:42 If you were hungry, 5,000,
00:17:48 not including the women and the children.
00:17:50 If you were hungry, immediately he would find a little boy
00:17:52 with two fish and five loaves of bread
00:17:54 and then give you 12 baskets of leftovers.
00:17:56 We see nothing.
00:17:58 Where the fish fry happened,
00:17:59 we didn't see the grease warm up.
00:18:00 We didn't see the ovens come on.
00:18:02 All we know is that they were full.
00:18:04 Because the unique selling proposition of Jesus
00:18:09 was that he would do everything immediately.
00:18:12 Let me introduce you to Mark chapter number eight,
00:18:17 so that you might discover that Mark messes up the mission
00:18:21 and upsets the equilibrium,
00:18:24 for he introduces us to another part of Jesus
00:18:28 where he doesn't do everything immediately.
00:18:31 This is why I said this sermon has consequences
00:18:35 because whenever it doesn't happen right away,
00:18:39 you think it's not God.
00:18:40 But let me introduce you to the prophet of process.
00:18:46 (congregation murmurs)
00:18:49 The one who knows that his friend is dead
00:18:52 and still waits four days to show up Lazarus,
00:18:58 to bring him out of a tomb,
00:19:01 because sometimes Jesus walks.
00:19:06 Every time you see Jesus in scripture,
00:19:12 he's always walking.
00:19:14 Never in scripture does it say Jesus ran.
00:19:17 Never does it says that Jesus showed up in a hurry.
00:19:20 Every time you see Jesus, he's walking
00:19:22 because he knows that no matter what's happening,
00:19:25 when I get there, I am the answer.
00:19:27 I don't have to be in a hurry.
00:19:29 It doesn't matter if I get there on Tuesday.
00:19:31 It doesn't matter if I get there on Thursday.
00:19:33 It doesn't matter if I get there next month.
00:19:34 It doesn't matter if I get there next week.
00:19:37 When I show up, everything has to change.
00:19:39 Somebody say Jesus walks.
00:19:43 If you lived in the time of Jesus,
00:19:45 you would have seen that it perceived
00:19:47 that he did everything in a hurry.
00:19:49 But in Mark chapter eight, it upsets the uniqueness.
00:19:51 And Mark upsets this by showing us
00:19:54 that God is actually the God of the process.
00:19:59 If I asked you the question,
00:20:01 and just stick with me 'cause we're almost there.
00:20:02 When I asked you the question,
00:20:04 when Jesus fed the multitude,
00:20:06 what's the first story that comes to your mind?
00:20:08 He fed 5,000, not including the women and the children,
00:20:14 and he had 12 baskets of leftovers.
00:20:16 For most of us, when we hear about Jesus
00:20:19 feeding a multitude, it's the 5,000.
00:20:22 How many of you knew that he had another thing
00:20:25 where he fed 4,000?
00:20:27 There was another banquet.
00:20:30 Now this time he didn't get the fish
00:20:31 and the loaves from a little boy.
00:20:33 He asked the disciples, how much bread y'all got?
00:20:35 They said, Jesus, we got seven loaves.
00:20:37 Jesus said, give it to the people.
00:20:39 They said, Jesus, why we gotta get them our bread?
00:20:42 Y'all ever heard something?
00:20:43 They could go to work too.
00:20:45 They could pray too, why we gotta give them our bread?
00:20:48 Jesus says, give them the bread.
00:20:50 And Jesus took their bread and he multiplied it
00:20:51 and he fed 4,000.
00:20:54 Now this is important, this is important.
00:20:56 Are y'all listening to me?
00:20:57 Most times when we hear about Jesus feeding the multitude,
00:21:00 it's the 5,000, we very rarely talk about the 4,000.
00:21:04 But this is important because when he fed the 5,000,
00:21:07 he fed them at a place called Bethsaida.
00:21:12 This is important.
00:21:13 When he feeds the 4,000, he feeds the 4,000 people
00:21:19 at a place called the Gereseans.
00:21:25 This is important.
00:21:26 I need y'all to wake up.
00:21:28 He feeds one at Bethsaida.
00:21:32 He feeds another 4,000 in a place called the Gadareans
00:21:37 or the Gereseans.
00:21:39 It's near the Sea of Galilee.
00:21:41 This is important because if God is the prophet of process,
00:21:46 he is showing us that he is the God,
00:21:48 sometimes not the immediate miracle,
00:21:51 but the two-stage miracle.
00:21:53 Because when he fed the 5,000 at Bethsaida
00:21:57 and the second at Gereseans, one, the 5,000 was Jews,
00:22:02 the 4,000 was Gentiles, Romans one.
00:22:06 He came first for the Jew.
00:22:10 Y'all don't like Bible preaching.
00:22:11 And second for the Gentiles
00:22:13 because we serve a God of process.
00:22:15 Stop thinking that it's not God
00:22:18 'cause you had to wait on him.
00:22:20 I'm gonna preach.
00:22:23 Stop thinking that it's not God
00:22:26 because you didn't get the job
00:22:28 the first time you filled out the application.
00:22:30 Stop thinking that it's not God
00:22:32 because he didn't heal your back
00:22:34 the day you touched yourself and rubbed yourself with oil.
00:22:37 Stop thinking it's not God
00:22:38 because the relationship you were in
00:22:40 didn't work the first time.
00:22:41 God says, "Sometimes I come for the Jew
00:22:44 and then I come for the Gentile."
00:22:46 In other words, I've got a two-step process.
00:22:49 Sometimes I touch you and you see me in his trees.
00:22:52 And then sometimes I touch you
00:22:54 and then your entire sight is destroyed.
00:22:56 And I wanna know, can you trust me in between touches?
00:23:00 Oh, this is gonna be a hard one.
00:23:06 Touch your neighbor and say, "Can you trust him
00:23:09 in between touches?"
00:23:10 Let me say it.
00:23:11 Can you trust him in between jobs?
00:23:13 Can you trust him when you used to get paid a whole lot
00:23:19 and now you're used to a certain lifestyle
00:23:22 and now you can't find anything
00:23:24 that mirrors where you came from
00:23:26 and you're trying to figure out,
00:23:27 God, have you forgotten me?
00:23:28 God says, "No, I'm trying to see
00:23:29 if you'll trust me in the touch."
00:23:31 I'm trying to find out,
00:23:36 are you shopping with me because of my USP?
00:23:39 You only shop with me 'cause you thought I was immediate.
00:23:42 I wanna know, will you come back to the store
00:23:44 if I'll make you wait in line?
00:23:45 Because sometimes I'm McDonald's
00:23:50 and sometimes I'm Burger King.
00:23:52 Sometimes I'm Target and sometimes I'm Walmart.
00:23:55 Sometimes I'm just, but sometimes I'll flip a table over.
00:23:59 Sometimes I'll give you grace,
00:24:00 but sometimes I'll make you wait.
00:24:02 Sometimes I'll heal you
00:24:03 and sometimes I'll let you go through the therapy,
00:24:06 but I'm God on both sides of the touches.
00:24:09 Oh, I can't get no help.
00:24:11 Do me a favor, if you ain't sleepy,
00:24:14 I touch somebody, say, "God is both
00:24:15 the healer and the waiter."
00:24:21 Sometimes he shows up in a hurry
00:24:27 and sometimes they'll say, "Jesus,
00:24:30 the one whom thou lovest is sick."
00:24:33 And Jesus will say, "Don't worry about it.
00:24:35 This sickness isn't under death."
00:24:38 And he waits four days.
00:24:43 And if you are honest,
00:24:46 most of us have a Mary and Martha reaction
00:24:49 to when God makes us wait.
00:24:51 If you had been here, dawg.
00:24:53 If you'd have been here, my brother wouldn't have died.
00:24:59 If you had been here,
00:25:00 my family wouldn't be going through this.
00:25:02 If you had been here, we wouldn't be struggling.
00:25:05 Jesus looks those women in the eye and says,
00:25:07 "Oh, I got it, I got it.
00:25:09 You don't know who I am."
00:25:11 Your brother's gonna get up.
00:25:14 She said, "Yeah, he gonna get up
00:25:15 in the last day at the resurrection."
00:25:17 Jesus said, "You've been in church your whole life
00:25:19 and you ain't learned nothing."
00:25:22 Yes, he's gonna get up in the last day at the resurrection,
00:25:24 but here's what you forgot.
00:25:25 I am the resurrection and the life.
00:25:29 And I came to tell somebody in here
00:25:31 who's dealing with a dead situation,
00:25:33 snap somebody and say the resurrection is in the room.
00:25:36 When Jesus shows up, water turns to wine.
00:25:39 When Jesus shows up, dead men rise up.
00:25:42 When Jesus shows up, deaf tongues are released.
00:25:45 When Jesus shows up, shriveled hands straighten out.
00:25:48 The resurrection is in the room.
00:25:51 But can you trust him in between touches?
00:26:01 Can you trust him?
00:26:02 I know you can trust him when you up,
00:26:04 but do you trust him when people
00:26:08 are almost about to forget about you?
00:26:10 Oh, I know you can trust him
00:26:13 when your whole house is furnished,
00:26:15 but can you trust him when you sitting on the floor
00:26:19 trying to save up enough just to get somewhere to see?
00:26:22 Come here.
00:26:23 I'm talking to the people who got empty bedrooms.
00:26:26 Nobody can tell from the street.
00:26:28 From the street, it looks like God is good.
00:26:30 On the outside, on the inside,
00:26:31 it looks like God has forgotten about you,
00:26:33 but they that wait on the Lord.
00:26:35 I just need about 400 of y'all.
00:26:39 The rest of y'all, I'm appreciate your life.
00:26:41 Just touch somebody and say,
00:26:42 I'm gonna trust him in between the touches.
00:26:44 I'm gonna trust him in between the jobs.
00:26:46 I'm gonna trust him in between the relationship.
00:26:48 You broke my heart, but I'm not gonna break my rhythm.
00:26:51 I'm gonna trust him in the...
00:26:59 Somebody shout, trust him in the meantime.
00:27:01 Next time somebody fire you,
00:27:06 I want you to walk out with a smile.
00:27:08 Once you walk out like, okay, well,
00:27:13 thank you for sending me into my destiny.
00:27:15 You got to trust him in between the touches.
00:27:27 You got to trust him in between the touches.
00:27:29 And this is good because remember Bishop,
00:27:32 when he turned the small fish and the loaves
00:27:36 into the banquet for the 4,000,
00:27:38 the Pharisees, which are the religious class,
00:27:41 they come out and said,
00:27:42 well, if you God, ain't that something?
00:27:49 If I'm God, you don't know who I am?
00:27:54 I mean, I skipped through 42 generations.
00:27:58 I actually put myself in a woman,
00:28:01 went from God to human, let myself be born,
00:28:07 let myself die, and then got myself up.
00:28:11 Oh, by the way, that was the second part.
00:28:14 You remember when I said, let there be?
00:28:16 There was, you remember there was no light until I spoke it.
00:28:21 There was no water until I spoke it.
00:28:23 There were no trees until I spoke it.
00:28:25 If I'm God, see what you have to understand
00:28:30 is when people don't know who you are,
00:28:33 it's because they missed your beginning.
00:28:35 You're missing it.
00:28:40 See, you caught me on the cross,
00:28:42 but you don't know this is a part of the plan.
00:28:44 I'm not on the cross because I'm powerless.
00:28:47 I'm on the cross 'cause I'm trying to save the people
00:28:49 who put me up here, which makes me the most powerful.
00:28:53 (congregation applauding)
00:28:56 The Pharisees said, "Well, if you God,
00:28:58 "then perform another miracle."
00:29:00 Y'all hear me in the balcony?
00:29:02 And this is what I want you to understand.
00:29:04 God says, "I ain't performing no miracles
00:29:08 "to make you believe."
00:29:10 See, here's the problem with most of y'all.
00:29:15 You perform too much for people who didn't pay
00:29:19 to get into the show.
00:29:21 And when you keep giving out free performances,
00:29:24 no wonder nobody respects your authority and anointing.
00:29:28 Slap somebody and say, "This ain't for free.
00:29:30 "This anointing costs me something.
00:29:33 "You don't know how much hell I went through
00:29:35 "to get where I am."
00:29:37 And you're not gonna get it for free
00:29:39 because you don't wanna pay the cost.
00:29:40 Jesus says, "I'm not performing a miracle
00:29:45 "to prove anything to you.
00:29:47 "If you don't know I'm God already,
00:29:49 "you'll find out in the end."
00:29:51 Stop trying to prove yourself to people
00:29:59 by performing miracles and then getting disappointed
00:30:03 when they don't appreciate the performance.
00:30:05 See, this is what kills most men 'cause we're performers.
00:30:12 We're always performing.
00:30:14 We're always trying to put on a show.
00:30:15 We're always trying to show you what we can do.
00:30:17 And when you don't perform from an authentic place,
00:30:20 but you perform for a reaction,
00:30:22 then you wanna end it all
00:30:23 because you didn't get the reaction that you anticipated.
00:30:26 You have to understand anticipation and reaction
00:30:34 are two different things.
00:30:35 People will only respond to what they appreciate,
00:30:38 not what you did.
00:30:39 I gotta say that again.
00:30:42 Y'all missed all that.
00:30:43 So you be thinking,
00:30:44 you thinking you doing something that they appreciate.
00:30:46 You don't understand.
00:30:47 They had that all of their life.
00:30:49 You're trying to impress them
00:30:50 with something they had all their life.
00:30:52 You have to find out what impresses them
00:30:54 and perform in the area of that expectation.
00:30:57 Jesus says, "If I gotta do a miracle to make you believe,
00:31:03 "you just won't have one."
00:31:05 And that's where a lot of people are in the church right now.
00:31:07 God perform a miracle, then I'ma believe.
00:31:08 God said, "Believe and I'll perform a miracle."
00:31:10 You'd be surprised how many people in this church right now
00:31:13 and watching online are like,
00:31:15 "God, if you do this, then I'll believe."
00:31:16 God says, "I ain't doing nothing so you'll believe.
00:31:18 "You believe and then I will do it,
00:31:20 "but I don't have to perform.
00:31:22 "I am God.
00:31:23 "I created the moon, the stars.
00:31:25 "The dog wouldn't bark unless I told it to.
00:31:27 "The snake wouldn't hiss unless I gave it the sound.
00:31:30 "The cat couldn't meow without me,
00:31:31 "and I gotta perform a miracle for you?"
00:31:34 You ain't never flung those stars in the sky.
00:31:40 I did.
00:31:45 I gave the sunflower its color.
00:31:47 By the way, the fact that you are alive
00:31:52 is a miracle in and of itself.
00:31:55 Jesus said, when they told him to perform a miracle,
00:32:04 this is what I love, this is what some of y'all need to do.
00:32:05 The Bible says that Jesus said,
00:32:07 he took a deep breath in the spirit.
00:32:11 You need to find your spiritual breath.
00:32:15 'Cause I believe the reason why Jesus took a deep breath,
00:32:17 'cause he was finna be like, "Man, who you?"
00:32:19 Like, y'all don't know, Jesus was like that.
00:32:25 I mean, when he went into that temple
00:32:27 and they were in there shooting dice, Jesus said, "Ah!"
00:32:30 Everybody just do this, say, "Pssst."
00:32:36 You need to find that spiritual breath that you can take
00:32:43 so that you don't respond negatively in between touches.
00:32:47 How many of y'all got that in you?
00:32:52 Like, just before you know it,
00:32:54 you just done climbed up 'em and cut their head off?
00:32:57 Some of y'all, you gotta repent.
00:33:01 You can't even ask God to slow you down
00:33:03 'cause you done already killed 'em.
00:33:04 Now you're like, "Lord, forgive me for the sins
00:33:06 "that I created that I didn't mean to do,
00:33:08 "but Lord, you know how my heart is and I didn't mean to."
00:33:12 (audience laughing)
00:33:14 Jesus said, "Ooh, y'all getting on my nerves."
00:33:19 He said to the disciples, he said, "Where the bread at?
00:33:27 "Where's the bread?
00:33:31 "We gotta go to the other side.
00:33:34 "I got something I need to do over here.
00:33:35 "Where's the bread?
00:33:37 "The Bible says that them jokers
00:33:38 "only brought one loaf of bread.
00:33:40 (audience laughing)
00:33:43 See, and I'm gonna tell you something.
00:33:45 I know Jesus was frustrated.
00:33:47 He was frustrated.
00:33:49 The reason why you ask him where the bread was
00:33:51 is you have to understand that Jesus made his bread
00:33:53 different than anybody else.
00:33:54 I don't bake, but I do know this from Scripture.
00:33:59 The way they made bread is that they would take up
00:34:03 a pinch of bread from the old loaf
00:34:06 and put it in the new loaf.
00:34:10 And the leaven from the old loaf would be enough yeast
00:34:13 in the new loaf for it to rise.
00:34:16 This is how they made bread.
00:34:18 So they would make bread.
00:34:20 This is brilliant 'cause they would never have to introduce
00:34:23 new yeast.
00:34:24 They would make bread, take a pinch, put it in there.
00:34:26 See, because Solomon said it this way,
00:34:28 and Paul said, "A little leaven."
00:34:30 Leaven if the whole loaf.
00:34:33 What does leaven mean?
00:34:34 Leaven is a metaphor for sin,
00:34:38 which is why whenever you add leaven to bread, it puffs up.
00:34:43 Well, what is pride?
00:34:45 It is an overinflated view of yourself.
00:34:47 Which is why at the Lord's supper or the last supper,
00:34:54 you see why the bread is so flat that we served you?
00:34:57 Because there's no leaven in it.
00:34:58 It didn't rise.
00:34:59 So the reason why we serve unleavened bread
00:35:02 at the Lord's supper is because we are saying
00:35:04 the bread has no leaven and the bread of life had no sin.
00:35:09 So you wanna know why the bread isn't fluffy?
00:35:20 Has no leaven.
00:35:21 You wanna know why Jesus has no pride?
00:35:24 He has no sin.
00:35:25 Does that make sense?
00:35:30 So Jesus says, "A little leaven, leaven if the whole loaf."
00:35:33 So Jesus says to the disciples,
00:35:36 he says, "Y'all gotta be crazy.
00:35:39 I am so tired of explaining myself to y'all."
00:35:41 He says to them in a text, he says,
00:35:43 "Why y'all don't get what I'm saying?"
00:35:45 See, this is one thing I've learned as a leader.
00:35:46 I can say the same thing over and over and over again,
00:35:50 and the people around me still say, "We don't understand."
00:35:53 I can say it every day, and I'll come to the next meeting,
00:35:57 they'll say, "Well, we don't know what he meant."
00:36:00 And here I am just continuously explaining myself,
00:36:02 and I'm trying to figure out how can I be any more clearer
00:36:06 on what I'm saying?
00:36:06 And sometimes I start to believe
00:36:08 that it's me that's not being clear,
00:36:10 but then I have to realize what Jesus said to them.
00:36:12 He says, as he's going to the other side, he says,
00:36:14 "I've just explained to y'all what my vision was.
00:36:16 Y'all don't get it."
00:36:17 He says, "Beware of the Pharisees and Harrots bread."
00:36:22 Then I realized that the reason why people
00:36:27 don't understand my menu
00:36:28 is 'cause they have their mind on other recipes.
00:36:32 See, when you used to make your bread like Harrot
00:36:35 and the Pharisees, then you don't understand the new menu.
00:36:39 It is not that I'm being unclear,
00:36:41 it's that you're measuring your perception
00:36:43 based on my vision.
00:36:45 Y'all ain't got to say,
00:36:48 "Man, I'm talking for myself right now."
00:36:49 That's why there's so much confusion in your house
00:36:52 is because everybody in it has a perception.
00:36:59 And ever since Adam and Eve perceived
00:37:02 that they could get life from another place,
00:37:05 nobody has been sure of anything else
00:37:08 since perception entered into the world.
00:37:10 And this is why your clarity is unclear
00:37:15 is because it's your recipe
00:37:17 and your bread versus Harrot's bread.
00:37:20 And they're trying to figure out your bread, Harrot's bread.
00:37:25 Your bread ain't got no taste.
00:37:28 (congregation murmurs)
00:37:30 Your bread is flat.
00:37:32 Even though there's life in your bread,
00:37:35 it doesn't taste as good as the bread I want.
00:37:38 Okay, if I offered you sweet tea and iced tea,
00:37:44 you're gonna take the iced tea and make it sweet,
00:37:47 not recognizing that you degrade the value
00:37:52 by trying to make it taste like the other thing.
00:37:56 And this is why you have to be careful
00:37:58 that people continue to add their ingredients to you
00:38:01 so that you become what they perceive.
00:38:03 I'm gonna preach whether you say amen or not.
00:38:08 Touch somebody and say, "I'm allergic to those ingredients."
00:38:11 You can add to what God has already perfected.
00:38:14 I may not do it how you want it.
00:38:16 I may not say it how you want it,
00:38:19 but you've got to understand the difference
00:38:21 between my bread and Harrot's bread.
00:38:24 (congregation murmurs)
00:38:27 And you think it's not bad because it's only a pinch,
00:38:30 but a little leaven.
00:38:33 Leaven, a little negativity ruins the whole atmosphere.
00:38:38 Have you ever been with somebody
00:38:43 and just a little bit of negativity
00:38:46 about something amazing,
00:38:48 it makes you say, "You know what?
00:38:49 "Don't worry about it."
00:38:50 (congregation murmurs)
00:38:54 Jesus says, y'all not unclear, he was so upset with them.
00:38:59 He says, this is in the Bible, he says,
00:39:01 "How long, you evil and perverse generation?"
00:39:06 He says, "How long do I have to deal with you?"
00:39:09 Then they came and said, "Lord, perform a sign for us."
00:39:13 Jesus said, "Why?"
00:39:15 Listen to me, young people.
00:39:16 He says, "Why does this generation always need a sign?"
00:39:21 It's in the Bible.
00:39:22 What is it about this generation
00:39:25 that you always got to have God perform
00:39:28 for you to believe him?
00:39:29 There was a time that we said, "If he don't do nothing else."
00:39:33 Oh God, y'all going to make me preach, I'm trying my best.
00:39:37 How many of y'all remember the time in the church
00:39:40 we would get up our testimony service
00:39:42 if he never does anything else?
00:39:45 He's already done enough.
00:39:46 This generation, we need God to kill our baby daddy.
00:39:50 We need God to make sure that we get a job
00:39:53 we don't qualify for.
00:39:54 We need God to continue to do all of these things.
00:39:58 Why does this generation seek a sign?
00:40:03 Why does God have to continuously prove himself to you?
00:40:09 You walked away from something
00:40:13 other people don't walk away from.
00:40:14 Why is it that God has to prove something to you?
00:40:18 You were born in a house.
00:40:19 One was an alcoholic and one was addicted to drugs
00:40:22 and yet you are a prosperous citizen.
00:40:23 Why does God have to prove anything to you?
00:40:27 They told you that you would never be able to conceive
00:40:29 and now you got three children.
00:40:30 Why does God?
00:40:31 I'm just wondering, is there anybody online
00:40:36 and in this house that says God never does anything else?
00:40:39 I said, I'm looking for somebody
00:40:43 who will say if God never does anything else,
00:40:48 he has already done.
00:40:50 Why seeketh he a sign?
00:41:00 Remember, if you study it, the sign is not the miracle.
00:41:05 It's the thing that points to the miracle.
00:41:07 So it's not, nothing's wrong with seeking a miracle.
00:41:11 He's saying, why are you looking for a signal that I'm God?
00:41:15 How many of you ever said, well, God,
00:41:18 just show me some sign and if you show me, I'll follow you.
00:41:22 God says, follow me.
00:41:24 I am the way, the truth and the life.
00:41:27 I will not perform miracles.
00:41:30 I will not perform miracles to get Christians.
00:41:35 I'm not about to swoop in
00:41:40 and just do whatever you want me to do
00:41:41 just so that you can tell people you believe.
00:41:43 Tell them you believe.
00:41:45 And then you'll see that thy faith has healed thee.
00:41:52 But I know why we struggle
00:41:59 to have that kind of conversation.
00:42:00 You know why?
00:42:02 It's the village.
00:42:05 (congregation exclaiming)
00:42:09 It's the village.
00:42:13 It's the conversations you have.
00:42:17 Listen to me, your life goes in the direction
00:42:23 of whose advice you take.
00:42:25 You have something about that, I wouldn't take all that.
00:42:31 Well, you didn't take it and I, it didn't take.
00:42:36 You have to be careful whose advice you take.
00:42:43 You have to be careful whose spirit you let in your soul.
00:42:50 You have to be careful at who you spend an hour
00:42:56 on the phone with, you gotta be careful.
00:42:58 (congregation exclaiming)
00:43:02 All right, y'all don't wanna say nothing.
00:43:04 You don't gotta say nothing.
00:43:06 We related and there is nothing in the scripture
00:43:10 that says that you have to take the advice
00:43:13 of people you're related to
00:43:14 if they are detrimental to your destiny.
00:43:16 You can be related to people
00:43:18 and not let them pour in your spirit, hallelujah.
00:43:21 I can love you, but understand that you are toxic for me.
00:43:24 So if I gotta go find people
00:43:26 that don't have the same blood type,
00:43:28 but got the same spirit type,
00:43:29 then I'll do what I have to do to make sure
00:43:33 that I get to the other side.
00:43:34 Do I have a witness in this church?
00:43:36 If I'm talking to you, say amen.
00:43:43 Here it is, y'all good?
00:43:51 I'm gonna say something to you,
00:43:54 you probably never heard.
00:43:56 The only reason why, or one of the reasons
00:43:58 why God performs a miracle is not to make you shout.
00:44:01 Although we do that.
00:44:04 God's primary purpose for performing miracles
00:44:08 is to change perception.
00:44:10 I knew you wouldn't shout because it ain't sexy.
00:44:15 It don't sound amazing.
00:44:17 God performs miracles to change perception.
00:44:21 And since the intrusion of the ability
00:44:24 to perceive in the garden,
00:44:25 certainty has left the earth.
00:44:27 Truth is the only thing that can be known.
00:44:33 Say it boy.
00:44:36 If you heard what I just said, you would understand.
00:44:40 Truth is the only thing that can be known.
00:44:42 When you say you have a perception,
00:44:46 what you don't really realize what you're saying is,
00:44:49 I have partial awareness.
00:44:51 (audience murmuring)
00:44:54 And one of the mistakes we make is believing
00:44:59 that having an opinion means we have knowledge.
00:45:02 That's me, amen, and myself,
00:45:11 since y'all sitting there like I ain't said nothing.
00:45:12 I had to read 12 chapters to get that statement.
00:45:14 You just, hey, hey, hey.
00:45:21 Listen to me.
00:45:22 To perceive is not to know.
00:45:25 Just 'cause you see something a certain way
00:45:29 don't mean you know what you're talking about.
00:45:31 Can I help you?
00:45:37 To perceive is to be certain
00:45:42 about a distorted form of knowledge.
00:45:49 Most of us are absolutely sure
00:45:52 about something that's incorrect.
00:45:54 Woo!
00:45:56 Talking dog, talking, talking.
00:46:06 You are absolutely sure you will fight for it,
00:46:10 you will post about it, you will call and tell everybody,
00:46:14 this is what you perceive,
00:46:15 and don't even know you've just posted distortion.
00:46:19 You know, we so good at finding something,
00:46:27 a one-line on somebody's page and then posting it.
00:46:30 They ain't studied before they posted it,
00:46:31 and you ain't verified before you posted it,
00:46:33 and you just posted distortion
00:46:35 because it made you feel good at the moment.
00:46:37 Preach, Kion.
00:46:38 And most of y'all are not posting facts,
00:46:42 you're actually posting to talk to somebody
00:46:44 that you won't call, so you put it out here,
00:46:46 we all got to see it when you're really talking to your ex.
00:46:49 Trying to act like you kicking knowledge,
00:46:52 no, you trying to fight in the spirit.
00:46:54 Oh, I'm going to get him good with this one,
00:46:58 wait till he see this.
00:47:00 He is on a date and he's in Cancun,
00:47:04 he ain't looking at your post.
00:47:14 I ain't going to let y'all scare me today.
00:47:16 So God says, listen, he says, I want to perform a miracle,
00:47:21 but I understand that I got to work on you
00:47:24 because if you cannot, listen to me, church,
00:47:26 listen to me online, God says,
00:47:28 if you cannot receive appropriately,
00:47:30 you will never be able to perceive accurately.
00:47:33 And I won't waste my miracle on the wrong perception.
00:47:40 (congregation murmurs)
00:47:43 Miracles need the right environment to be performed.
00:47:47 If you talking about, I need God to perform a miracle,
00:47:52 but I just feel like I'm failing,
00:47:53 I just feel like it's all over,
00:47:55 I need God to perform a miracle,
00:47:56 but I'm tired and I want to give up.
00:47:58 God says, I am not about to step in that negativity
00:48:01 and put my miracle in that atmosphere,
00:48:03 that is like taking an apple seed to Alaska
00:48:05 and putting it in the ice and asking it to make a tree.
00:48:09 In order for a seed to grow,
00:48:11 it has to have the right atmosphere.
00:48:13 And if you are negative, you are killing your seed.
00:48:17 Y'all ain't got to say amen,
00:48:19 but I came to preach and set the captive free today.
00:48:21 Lord, right now in the name of Jesus,
00:48:23 for everybody who is accustomed to your immediacy,
00:48:26 I am here to preach about this two-stage God.
00:48:28 Let your real children understand
00:48:30 that your unique selling proposition is,
00:48:33 you don't always do it right away.
00:48:37 I'm trying to show you a different side of God,
00:48:40 so you'll stop not trusting him
00:48:41 because you prayed on Monday and didn't get it Monday night.
00:48:43 Sometimes God lets the acorn fall to the ground
00:48:48 and get embedded in the soil,
00:48:50 and it has to wait a generation to become a tree.
00:48:53 And maybe your life was never meant to feed you,
00:48:55 maybe your life was meant to give
00:48:57 the rest of your family shade.
00:48:59 (audience cheering)
00:49:06 But you'll never be happy
00:49:10 if God created you to be shade and you want to be fruit.
00:49:13 You have to be satisfied with what he made you to be.
00:49:23 And you don't get to tell God,
00:49:25 "God, I want to be an apple tree."
00:49:26 God says, "No, I made you an oak tree.
00:49:29 "I wanted you to provide wood
00:49:35 "so that other people in other generations
00:49:37 "can create furniture out of your substance."
00:49:40 And you want to be fruit.
00:49:46 God says, "I can't perform miracles
00:49:55 "until the atmosphere is right."
00:49:58 Let me tell you something, we went to Wonderland,
00:50:01 one of the ladies in our church, she's been here,
00:50:03 and we were out in the front,
00:50:05 and she's been going through a lot,
00:50:07 and I was praying for her, and I listened to her,
00:50:09 and this is the honest to God truth,
00:50:11 I probably listened to the young lady
00:50:13 without responding for seven to 10 minutes.
00:50:16 But once I started talking,
00:50:20 and she tried to interrupt me, I rebuked her.
00:50:25 Because I told her, "God can't perform a miracle
00:50:32 "in this atmosphere.
00:50:34 "When you keep telling me how long you've been waiting,
00:50:37 "and what he ain't doing, and how frustrated you are,
00:50:40 "and this and that, I get all of that.
00:50:42 "I've been through my own hell and high water.
00:50:44 "But when you get enough courage to ask God to do something,
00:50:47 "you got to also have enough courage
00:50:49 "to let God have his way."
00:50:50 I don't know who I'm talking to in this place today.
00:51:01 And I prayed for the young lady.
00:51:03 And as they took her away,
00:51:07 I prayed, "Lord, let her faith fail not,
00:51:10 "because most of us lose our blessing
00:51:14 "in between the touches."
00:51:16 I almost named this sermon,
00:51:21 the two-step God.
00:51:24 Because most of us are used to God responding
00:51:28 as soon as we push the button.
00:51:30 But what happens when you flip the switch
00:51:32 and the lights don't come on?
00:51:33 Will then you assume he has no power?
00:51:37 Or would you perceive that he was protecting you
00:51:42 from a shock?
00:51:43 Oh, and by the way, daughter,
00:51:52 the young lady who was in the wheelchair
00:51:54 that I was just talking to you about,
00:51:56 thank you, Holy Spirit,
00:51:58 the lady that I was talking to you about
00:51:59 that was in the wheelchair on Saturday,
00:52:01 I'm looking at her now,
00:52:02 she's standing in the sanctuary.
00:52:04 Do me a favor and tell your neighbor,
00:52:11 "God can do it overnight."
00:52:13 If you, I said, repeat after me,
00:52:19 don't quit after he can do it overnight.
00:52:22 If you believe.
00:52:26 - If you believe.
00:52:28 - I came to preach today, y'all.
00:52:33 I came to preach, I did not come to entertain you.
00:52:35 I did not come with fluff.
00:52:39 I came so that you can have a weapon
00:52:42 to fight the devil back with.
00:52:43 How many of y'all need this word?
00:52:46 Online, let me know if you hear me.
00:52:50 Here's what the Bible says in Matthew 17 and 17.
00:52:53 He says, "After he kept fighting with them,"
00:52:54 he says, "Oh, unbelieving and perverse generation,
00:52:59 "how long shall I stay with you?
00:53:01 "How long shall I put up with you?
00:53:06 "Bring the boy to me."
00:53:08 God says, "Bring the boy to me
00:53:10 "because if the boy stays in your environment,
00:53:13 "the demons won't leave.
00:53:17 "So get him out of his village
00:53:20 "so he can get victory because if he stays around,
00:53:25 "see, some of y'all can't get where you're going
00:53:27 "'cause everybody around you is negative and unbelieving
00:53:30 "and they're condescending and they're always moping
00:53:34 "and they always got their lips tucked out.
00:53:36 "You need to find some friends that can find joy in chaos.
00:53:39 "You need to find some friends
00:53:41 "who can worship in spite of it all."
00:53:44 High-five your neighbor and say,
00:53:47 "Will you praise God with me
00:53:48 "even though you're waiting on him,
00:53:49 "even though you don't have money in the bank,
00:53:51 "even though you got sickness in your body,
00:53:53 "even though you're waiting on the doctors
00:53:54 "to give a report?
00:53:55 "Can you just worship God with me?"
00:53:58 (congregation cheering)
00:54:01 You know, I hear somebody who got the Holy Spirit
00:54:10 saying, "Yes, God, yes, God."
00:54:12 I know the sound of the Holy Ghost when I hear it.
00:54:14 Holy Ghost, you're gonna have to saturate this atmosphere
00:54:15 because right now I got one group
00:54:17 stuck on the other side of the touch.
00:54:19 But I can still feel some of y'all still trying to get,
00:54:24 'cause I'm fighting against what you've been through,
00:54:25 and I'm fighting against what you perceive.
00:54:27 I'm fighting against what you were taught.
00:54:29 I'm fighting against your orientation,
00:54:30 but I can see some of y'all leaning in.
00:54:32 If you got to, you got to pick up a leg
00:54:34 and drag yourself to the other side.
00:54:36 But I want you to leave all of that negativity behind
00:54:39 so that God can get in the atmosphere
00:54:42 and begin to create a new work in you.
00:54:45 Who am I talking to on the balcony?
00:54:51 (congregation cheering)
00:54:54 You got to trust him on both sides of the touches.
00:55:02 Are y'all still with me?
00:55:05 Watch what Jesus says.
00:55:06 Well, let me tell y'all, how many of y'all got
00:55:09 like Google or something like that,
00:55:10 and it's frustrating, but it keeps you safe,
00:55:12 the two-step verification?
00:55:13 How many of y'all opt to do that?
00:55:16 Now, that's an extra step.
00:55:17 You got to put your number in, put your password in,
00:55:22 send you a code.
00:55:24 Then if you got an iPhone, it populates the code.
00:55:27 If you don't have one of them,
00:55:28 then you got to write it down on a sheet of paper
00:55:30 and then put it in manually.
00:55:32 You'll eventually get there.
00:55:33 I'm telling you, then it sends you the code.
00:55:41 Then your security question, what's your mama's this?
00:55:45 And what's your favorite that?
00:55:47 And you got to put it all in just to get in.
00:55:50 But you better.
00:55:53 You know why?
00:55:56 Because, and I just sent this to our security team right now,
00:56:00 because of what's going on in other parts of the world,
00:56:03 the FBI is saying that we have to be on high alert
00:56:05 and mostly churches.
00:56:07 You better be careful.
00:56:09 Right now, they're going after identities
00:56:12 and places of haven and all that kind of stuff,
00:56:14 especially during the holidays.
00:56:16 So you got this two-step verification process
00:56:19 to keep somebody from hacking your process.
00:56:24 And God says, sometimes I'm a two-stage God
00:56:28 because I have false gods hacking my process.
00:56:31 I got false prophets hacking my process,
00:56:35 trying to lay hands on the sick,
00:56:37 but can they lay hands on the sick and they stay dead
00:56:40 and then show up four days later
00:56:42 and then come out of the grave closed?
00:56:44 God says I introduced another process
00:56:48 to deal with the people who pretend to be me.
00:56:50 So God says I'm verifying that I'm God
00:56:58 because I'm doing it in a way that only I can.
00:57:02 I'm the only one who can touch your eyes
00:57:06 and give you partial sight,
00:57:08 and then come back and touch it again
00:57:11 and give you full sight.
00:57:12 And then I asked myself, I said,
00:57:14 self, myself, said, hmm, I said self.
00:57:16 Why did God split the process in two?
00:57:23 He did all this other stuff immediately,
00:57:28 and now he wants to touch and touch again.
00:57:34 Be honest with you, it would have made me doubt him.
00:57:36 He touched a man, he went from blind to 20/60.
00:57:40 I see men as trees, partial sight.
00:57:45 Partial sight.
00:57:50 God, what are you doing?
00:57:53 What are you trying to show us?
00:57:55 I mean, wouldn't we have been excited
00:57:59 about the miracle if the man was on the bed for 38 years
00:58:01 and he got up and he said,
00:58:02 my right leg didn't work, but my left one did.
00:58:05 That ain't God.
00:58:11 Now what are you doing?
00:58:12 Show us what you're doing.
00:58:15 The Lord gave me a revelation.
00:58:18 We always shout about the second touch.
00:58:22 I have, anybody wanna?
00:58:27 Look, the second touch is the one
00:58:29 that makes the church go crazy.
00:58:31 He touched him, boom, he starts singing.
00:58:35 Church goes crazy.
00:58:36 (mimics church music)
00:58:39 It wasn't until this week that I had a greater appreciation
00:58:47 for the first touch.
00:58:49 I see men as trees.
00:58:57 What's the first living thing we see in the Bible?
00:59:01 In the middle of the garden.
00:59:05 It's a tree.
00:59:07 What do we see Jesus being crucified in the New Testament?
00:59:14 On a tree.
00:59:19 What do we use to celebrate Christmas?
00:59:22 Peace.
00:59:27 Where do we get the ability to have
00:59:31 the knowledge of good and evil?
00:59:35 At the tree.
00:59:36 And the leaves of the trees are for the healing
00:59:42 of the nation.
00:59:43 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel
00:59:45 of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of the sinner,
00:59:46 nor sits in the seat of the scornful,
00:59:48 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
00:59:49 and he doth meditate on it day and night.
00:59:51 And he is like a tree.
00:59:53 (audience cheers)
00:59:56 It's like a tree planted by the rivers of water.
01:00:03 And Bishop, when I saw this, it literally blew my mind.
01:00:06 The Bible says in Romans 8 and 10,
01:00:09 but if Christ is in you, although the body is dead
01:00:13 because of sin, the spirit of life.
01:00:16 So when you see the word tree in the scripture,
01:00:25 it means life.
01:00:26 And the word life, according to Paul,
01:00:30 is translated spirit.
01:00:33 (audience murmurs)
01:00:35 So it means that when the man was touched a second time,
01:00:41 he saw the substance, he saw clearly.
01:00:45 But if he had known, he actually saw clearer the first time.
01:00:50 Because the first touch allowed him to see in the spirit.
01:00:56 Oh God.
01:00:57 I don't know who I'm talking to,
01:01:01 but God said, don't ignore the first touch
01:01:06 because I'm about to give you the ability
01:01:09 to see in the spirit.
01:01:11 Touch five, people say different dimension,
01:01:15 different dimension, different dimension.
01:01:17 You have been so accustomed to thinking it's God
01:01:21 because you can see the way you used to see,
01:01:24 but God says, don't negate the fact
01:01:27 that I'm about to give you the ability
01:01:30 to see in a way you've never seen before.
01:01:33 But,
01:01:33 before you can see in the spirit,
01:01:40 the Bible says that Jesus comes to the man
01:01:44 and grabs him by the hand
01:01:47 and leads him out of the village.
01:01:56 The truth is, is you would be able to see
01:02:00 if you could get out of your village.
01:02:06 He had to leave where he was in order to see.
01:02:13 And the reason why some of you all can't see
01:02:16 is because you so addicted to your village
01:02:19 that you don't recognize that they are contributing
01:02:22 to your blindness.
01:02:23 (congregation laughing)
01:02:27 That's your dog, that's why you blind.
01:02:30 That's your clique, that's why you blind.
01:02:32 That's your friend, that's my best friend,
01:02:34 that's why you blind.
01:02:35 Your problem ain't your eyes, your problem is your village.
01:02:42 Jesus said, if you want to see,
01:02:47 you're going to have to get away from these people
01:02:49 who have contributed to your lack of sight.
01:02:54 'Cause you will never see if you stay.
01:02:58 Preach, boy.
01:03:01 Stay where you are if you want
01:03:09 and you'll always be searching.
01:03:11 Your village is the issue.
01:03:19 (congregation laughing)
01:03:22 Everybody in your little village just gossip all the time.
01:03:25 And this is how you know that God
01:03:28 is trying to disrupt your village.
01:03:30 He's trying to get you around people
01:03:32 that you won't be comfortable around
01:03:33 when you first get around.
01:03:35 'Cause they don't do the stuff that your old village did.
01:03:38 And you'll do what the children of Israel did.
01:03:41 When God tries to bring you to Canaan,
01:03:43 you will figure out that things are different
01:03:44 and then you'll want to turn around
01:03:45 and go back to your village.
01:03:47 And then be wondering why it took you 40 years
01:03:49 to get a miracle because God says,
01:03:51 I'm not performing miracles here around these people.
01:03:54 Why?
01:03:55 Because if I bless you in the wrong village,
01:03:57 you're going to bless the village and I cursed it.
01:03:59 (congregation cheering)
01:04:03 Can I just tell you something?
01:04:11 You have a blind spot.
01:04:14 (congregation laughing)
01:04:18 You're going to leave church today
01:04:21 and y'all going to go get on the phone and go to Chili's.
01:04:24 I don't know why I picked that place.
01:04:33 I don't even go there.
01:04:34 So I don't even know why I said that.
01:04:35 Y'all going to go pick a restaurant
01:04:37 and you're going to sit around the table
01:04:39 and you're going to talk about everybody's outfit
01:04:41 and talk about how everybody looked
01:04:42 and who was dating who.
01:04:43 And you could have spent the same time
01:04:45 talking about the word
01:04:46 and encouraging each other and building each other up.
01:04:50 But it's your village.
01:04:56 No matter how many times God tries to lead you out,
01:05:01 you're like, God, I'll catch up.
01:05:02 I'll catch up.
01:05:05 I'll be there eventually.
01:05:07 I'll catch up, God.
01:05:09 I ain't ready to cut them off yet.
01:05:10 I ain't ready to move on.
01:05:11 Okay, well stay blind.
01:05:14 And don't tell anybody I'm not a miracle worker
01:05:16 when you can't see.
01:05:17 Come, come ye out from among them.
01:05:27 Your village people are making your blindness elongated.
01:05:41 You should have been seen by now, but it's your village.
01:05:46 And let me tell you something about village people.
01:05:50 They have a compelling argument
01:05:52 as to why you should keep them.
01:06:06 Village people think that because they helped you
01:06:11 build the village,
01:06:13 that you should keep them
01:06:18 when they start tearing the village down.
01:06:20 As long as you are contributing to the vision
01:06:27 of this village, there was a place for you,
01:06:29 but I am not gonna subjugate my village
01:06:35 to your inability to get out of the boat.
01:06:37 I want you to identify your village.
01:06:42 And I guarantee you, you are underperforming
01:06:49 because you are surrounded by people who keep you blind.
01:06:55 And what's worse is they know what they're doing.
01:07:06 (audience shouting)
01:07:09 They know exactly what information to give you
01:07:12 and what information to keep from you
01:07:15 so that you can see what they show you,
01:07:18 which is still blindness.
01:07:21 Who am I talking to?
01:07:34 God is about to touch you in a way,
01:07:38 and you will start to see things in the spirit.
01:07:43 Listen to me, and it's gonna scare the hell out of you.
01:07:46 You're not going to recognize yourself
01:07:55 because you're gonna start to have different reactions
01:07:58 to things that you used to react differently before.
01:08:01 And listen to me, shh.
01:08:03 And don't let the devil make you think
01:08:05 that because you reacted differently, you're weak.
01:08:07 I just said something.
01:08:11 Because the one thing nobody wants to be is weak.
01:08:14 And so if you're perceived to be weak
01:08:15 based on your new response,
01:08:17 then you're gonna go back to being ignorant,
01:08:19 what you call strength.
01:08:20 Let 'em think you're weak.
01:08:25 But you're gonna soon recognize
01:08:31 that when you see in the spirit,
01:08:33 you handle things slowly,
01:08:37 which makes your enemies think
01:08:39 they are getting away with it.
01:08:41 You're not getting away.
01:08:49 We're just gonna deal with this on my terms.
01:08:53 Never let anybody make you react to war.
01:09:01 When you should be offering peace.
01:09:03 I am the God of the immediate.
01:09:16 But I am also the God of the second touch.
01:09:22 And let me tell you, right now he's reaching out his hand.
01:09:28 And he wants to know, do you wanna see?
01:09:33 If you do, follow me.
01:09:42 (audience applauding)
01:09:57 And when you get homesick,
01:09:58 whatever you do, please don't go back
01:10:04 to the village people.
01:10:08 There is nothing over there for you.
01:10:15 That stage of your life has given you
01:10:22 everything it's ever gonna give you.
01:10:24 (audience applauding)
01:10:28 Okay, y'all been friends for 10 years.
01:10:31 It served its purpose.
01:10:33 You don't have to be mean to move on.
01:10:38 See, and this is the one thing that we gotta do better
01:10:44 as a generation of people.
01:10:45 When it's time to move on,
01:10:46 don't just move on, have a conversation.
01:10:48 And it don't matter, well, they're not gonna understand it
01:10:50 if I tell 'em, at least you would have said
01:10:52 what it needs to be.
01:10:54 But when you leave ambiguity in the equation,
01:10:57 then you cannot distract me from what I perceive
01:11:01 without a conversation from you.
01:11:03 If it means nothing to you, it means nothing to you.
01:11:09 But if it means something to you,
01:11:10 I'm talking to people who recognize
01:11:13 that when you are a kingdom person,
01:11:15 you have to get rid of your village mentality.
01:11:17 Can I speak to you bluntly?
01:11:24 You are too big to act so small.
01:11:26 Can I just be real?
01:11:30 You are too smart to act that dumb.
01:11:34 Can I just, you are too powerful to be that weak.
01:11:42 If you stay in that village,
01:11:52 you know everybody who stays in the same village,
01:11:54 they starve together, they prosper together,
01:11:57 they live together, they...
01:11:59 Abraham, you gotta move.
01:12:03 You gotta come from among your kinfolk.
01:12:08 And I'm talking to somebody,
01:12:10 and I know I'm ministering right now,
01:12:11 because your next stretch and break
01:12:14 is gonna be from family members.
01:12:16 I'm talking to people in this room
01:12:21 who had to move halfway across the United States of America
01:12:24 and you feel lonely sometime,
01:12:25 and you wanna go back home
01:12:27 because that's where you had your family at.
01:12:28 God says, "I did not move you to Houston, Texas
01:12:30 "for you to go back to your village.
01:12:32 "I'm trying to do something,
01:12:33 "and it's gonna take at least a generation
01:12:35 "to get that stuff out of your family.
01:12:36 "Stay planted by the rivers of water.
01:12:38 "I see you, I hear you, and I'm gonna bless you."
01:12:42 I don't know why I'm doing this, Lord Jesus,
01:12:49 why I'm about to do this.
01:12:50 Everybody who is in this church and joined this church,
01:12:54 and you are not from Houston, come to this altar.
01:12:57 Why am I doing this?
01:13:03 Lord Jesus.
01:13:05 (congregation cheering)
01:13:08 (gentle music)
01:13:11 (congregation cheering)
01:13:14 (gun firing)
01:13:27 You ready?
01:13:37 (gentle music)
01:13:40 (congregation cheering)
01:13:43 I had no idea.
01:14:04 All I know is every week my wife and I
01:14:09 (congregation cheering)
01:14:11 we go in that room and every Sunday, y'all,
01:14:14 y'all don't even know this, every Sunday,
01:14:15 it's like 50 to 70 people joining church.
01:14:18 And we'll ask the question, we'll say,
01:14:21 "Who isn't from Houston?"
01:14:24 And everybody will be like.
01:14:25 And then I say to my wife, I say,
01:14:28 "Baby, tell 'em what you," 'cause my wife isn't from here.
01:14:31 She says, "Whatever you can do,
01:14:34 "meet somebody that you don't know,
01:14:38 "'cause you're gonna need them."
01:14:39 What she's basically saying is,
01:14:41 "You gotta find your new village."
01:14:43 "I come up against loneliness.
01:14:54 "You are in the right place on purpose.
01:15:00 "And I know when you came here,
01:15:03 "you were expecting the land to be flowing
01:15:05 "with milk and honey, and it will,
01:15:07 "but you're just, you're on your first touch.
01:15:11 "And you're about to turn around and go back to the village,
01:15:16 "and you're gonna get back there and find out two things.
01:15:20 "Number one, you were not supposed to be there.
01:15:24 "And number two, when you get back,
01:15:26 "the people are gonna be upset with you for leaving.
01:15:28 "So you're gonna be more alone when you return
01:15:30 "than you were when you left."
01:15:36 "There is nothing in Egypt for you.
01:15:41 "I am not from here, but this is my home.
01:15:50 "I wasn't born here, but I feel like a son of the soil,
01:15:58 "because when you get where God has planted you,"
01:16:02 listen to me,
01:16:05 "what you don't know is I have to go through hell
01:16:08 "for you to get here.
01:16:09 "When I got to Houston, I wanted to leave.
01:16:16 "I hated it.
01:16:18 "In fact, when I got here,
01:16:23 "Hurricane Ike had just hit the city.
01:16:26 "When I got to Houston, there was no power,
01:16:31 "and it was 100 degrees.
01:16:34 "The church that I came to,
01:16:36 "we had to have service outside for two weeks.
01:16:39 "This is the promised land?
01:16:41 "I was told by the pastor who brought me here,
01:16:47 "he said, 'God told me that you were gonna
01:16:48 "'take over this church.'
01:16:50 "And for nine months, I preached every Sunday.
01:16:54 "I served him faithfully, never disrespectful,
01:16:57 "never late, never insubordinate,
01:17:00 "only to be fired on a Sunday morning without cause."
01:17:04 (congregation murmurs)
01:17:06 He fired me on a Sunday morning
01:17:08 and told me to leave the church.
01:17:10 When he said leave the church, I heard something different.
01:17:16 When he said leave the church,
01:17:17 you know what I heard?
01:17:17 Go back home.
01:17:18 Went home mad as hell, start packing up my stuff.
01:17:23 I'm out of here.
01:17:24 You don't want me?
01:17:24 See, this is what, I'll go where they want me,
01:17:26 but you gotta understand, every place people want you
01:17:28 is not where you're supposed to be.
01:17:30 (congregation cheers)
01:17:33 I'm going home.
01:17:35 I'm going back.
01:17:37 I'm going to Gary, Indiana.
01:17:38 What would I have done
01:17:40 in Gary, Indiana that I hadn't already done?
01:17:46 The street I grew up on, Ellsworth Place,
01:17:50 the average age for a black man on the street
01:17:52 I was living on was 25,
01:17:54 which means that had I returned,
01:17:57 my life expectancy would have shortened.
01:18:03 At that time, Gary, Indiana was the murder capital
01:18:05 of the United States of America.
01:18:07 The neighborhood that we grew up in,
01:18:10 it wasn't nothing to find a dime bag or eight ball
01:18:14 sitting right on the steps of the house
01:18:15 where the dope man stood.
01:18:17 I remember the first time I found my first dime bag,
01:18:19 I went to my sister, Danielle, and I'm like,
01:18:21 we about to be rich
01:18:21 'cause I'm about to turn this 10 into a 20
01:18:23 and we about to get a bird and we about...
01:18:26 Oop.
01:18:27 Sorry, man, I didn't...
01:18:42 See, y'all don't understand.
01:18:44 We was talking about bricks when I was 12.
01:18:46 There was a drug dealer that lived
01:18:51 across the street from us.
01:18:53 When he got raided, when I was in the sixth grade,
01:18:56 his granddaughter was my girlfriend.
01:18:58 When he got raided in the sixth grade,
01:19:01 they found $2 million cash and 17 keys under his bed
01:19:06 and I was there in the sixth grade.
01:19:08 I pulled my first gun on a man when I was 12.
01:19:13 After a fight in the lunchroom, they let me go first,
01:19:18 they let him go second.
01:19:19 What they didn't know is we lived in apartment five,
01:19:21 apartment five, he lived in apartment two.
01:19:24 They sent us to the same house
01:19:25 and didn't even know we lived together.
01:19:27 So I knew what he had, he ain't know what I had.
01:19:30 I got home, I got my gun.
01:19:32 My mama was looking through the window
01:19:34 and as I got the 22 and put it in between his eyes,
01:19:36 I hear my mama screaming from the window,
01:19:38 "Keyon, put the gun down!"
01:19:41 My sister, Danielle, she comes.
01:19:45 This is why she's always been my protector
01:19:47 because just before I shoot the boy, my sister comes,
01:19:50 she jumps down all of the steps
01:19:53 in the hallway of the apartment building.
01:19:55 Where's Danielle?
01:19:57 She jumps down the steps.
01:19:58 If it wasn't for her, I would have shot him.
01:20:00 She jumps down, she grabs me, knocks the gun out of my hand.
01:20:07 Now, I got to admit to you,
01:20:08 after that, we beat the snot out of him together.
01:20:11 But, 'cause I had to do something.
01:20:14 I'm glad I didn't shoot him, but I had to let him know,
01:20:16 "Dawg, you," and we beat the brakes off of him.
01:20:20 Lord, forgive me.
01:20:22 Sort of, kind of, he deserved it,
01:20:23 but I didn't mean to in the spirit.
01:20:25 I see trees.
01:20:26 I see trees, I see trees.
01:20:33 So, I got here thinking, "Oh, God!
01:20:39 "Oh, I've been through so much!
01:20:41 "Oh, I was so stupid!
01:20:43 "I did all of these dumb things!"
01:20:44 I remember one time,
01:20:48 called myself showing off with a gun.
01:20:50 I'm just, you know what?
01:20:52 They can put it on the internet, I don't care.
01:20:54 I can't help nobody if you don't know where I came from.
01:20:56 Forget the image, okay?
01:20:59 Polish me up.
01:21:00 I did some stuff I wasn't supposed to do.
01:21:03 I remember having a gun, I got out of my Lincoln Navigator,
01:21:06 didn't even know my finger was on the trigger.
01:21:08 I accidentally pulled the trigger,
01:21:09 and the bullet went through the house in front of me.
01:21:12 I ran over to the house, looked in the house,
01:21:18 and saw the bullet hole.
01:21:19 I knew my life was over,
01:21:21 because I knew in the house was a woman with four children.
01:21:24 I saw her every day.
01:21:28 She would stand on the porch, she would wave to me.
01:21:31 This is when I was living in Fort Wayne.
01:21:33 We would talk, I knew the kids, she would wave.
01:21:36 I had no idea
01:21:39 that she foreclosed on the home,
01:21:44 and snuck out in the middle of the night,
01:21:47 so that they didn't catch her.
01:21:48 Swear to God, honest to God,
01:21:50 the day that I shot the house, it was empty.
01:21:52 (audience laughing)
01:21:55 That's where I come from, see it?
01:22:02 That's the stupid stuff I used to do.
01:22:06 And here I am standing on the stage.
01:22:09 (audience cheering)
01:22:14 (audience applauding)
01:22:17 But I need to tell you, this ain't the thing that helped me.
01:22:21 I can see clearly now, but it was that first touch.
01:22:26 When I got here and the preacher said, "Leave."
01:22:31 And all of that temper and all of that anger that was there
01:22:35 didn't get enacted at that moment.
01:22:42 And because I didn't act a fool publicly,
01:22:44 people started to follow me privately.
01:22:47 And now I'm looking at all of you all,
01:22:54 because I didn't go back to my village.
01:22:58 (audience applauding)
01:23:07 Don't let struggle make you turn around.
01:23:11 Don't let missing your mama make you turn around.
01:23:18 Build the company and move your mama here.
01:23:21 It's too cold, her bones hurt anyway.
01:23:26 Get her out of that cold and get her in some heat.
01:23:29 Build your house and put a mother-in-law suite in it.
01:23:33 If you don't wanna live with you, put her down the street.
