00:00 I'm Bria Marantis with Mike Fisher. We're here at Dallas Cowboys headquarters, the star.
00:06 It's week 15 of NFL action and the Cowboys head to Buffalo. But before we get to that,
00:12 there are some irresponsible rumors that we hear around the start often.
00:16 Irresponsible is a strong, strong, strong, but accurate. No strong, but accurate.
00:20 Yeah. Right. So of all of these rumors that you may be hearing, is there any rumors that
00:25 you think have merit when it comes to trade or otherwise?
00:29 Let's call it transaction rumors. The idea of Cowboys in the offseason, because obviously
00:36 the trade deadline's gone now, the offseason, inviting offers for Trey Lance, the third
00:41 string quarterback. There's sense to it. It's not something that anybody around here talks
00:46 about. In fact, quite the contrary. I've got two sources in this building that say they'd
00:50 like to resign Trey Lance.
00:51 Yeah. He seems like a good fit in the locker room.
00:54 No doubt. We've had good visits with him. I don't think the other players are fine with
00:59 him. He's the third string quarterback. He hasn't made any waves about that. That's his
01:04 job.
01:05 He hasn't played yet.
01:06 And he's not as good as Cooper Rush. Not at this time for this team. But they're not going
01:11 to pick up his fifth year option. That's $25 million for 2025. So that's out. Next year,
01:18 he's guaranteed $5 million. That's affordable. They gave up a fourth round pick for him.
01:23 If somebody wants to give more than that, the Cowboys should listen. And we would suggest
01:27 that the Minnesota Vikings. He's from Minnesota. So there could be a culture fit there, if
01:31 you will. If the Vikings want to give up a two for Trey Lance, if they go to the draft
01:36 and don't get an answer.
01:37 Gosh, that would be a win for Dallas.
01:39 And that's how you build. That's taking that paperclip and building it into a house. The
01:44 stuff about Martavis Bryant that's out there. This is completely made up. And again, it's
01:49 not a trade, but it's a potential transaction. The idea that teams would be clamoring to
01:55 poach him from the Cowboys. And they can. They have to take him and put them on their
02:00 active 53 man roster. And the only way the Cowboys could respond to block that is by
02:05 putting him on their 53 man roster. Well, the latter almost certainly isn't going to
02:10 happen. I've already got six wide receivers on the roster. I already every week don't
02:15 play Brooks. So he's a healthy scratch every week. So now I'm going to add a seventh guy
02:20 and make him a healthy scratch too, because I so value my seventh receiver. It doesn't
02:27 add up. Also doesn't add up for other teams to make this a priority. Not that it can't
02:32 happen. Chargers, whoever. He turns 33 soon. He's 6'4" and 220 pounds. And we haven't played
02:43 in four years. It seems to me, and this is just us talking now, if somebody really coveted
02:50 Martavis Bryant, then there would have been a bidding war for him. Instead of him, instead
02:55 of the Cowboys saying, "Why don't you come on in?" And he comes on in. "All right, fine.
02:59 We'll give it a try." This is an experiment for the Cowboys. And it's not more than that.
03:06 The fact that he is a noticeable player. I mean, we do. When he's on the practice field
03:11 and he's standing next to Kvante Turpin, you notice him. But in terms of this being
03:17 an important transaction, a pursuit of this guy, it's way down the list from the Shaq
03:25 Leonard thing from a week ago, where we tried to suggest that with Shaq, that was not going
03:31 to be a bidding war. He went where he was comfortable. It wasn't a super priority for
03:36 Dallas. They would have liked to have had him. Had they wanted to, had they loved to
03:40 have had him, they offered him a two-year deal. They did not offer him that. They offered
03:43 him the same piddly deal, essentially, that the Eagles offered him. Then he goes to the
03:47 Eagles, plays against the Cowboys, and has an innocuous performance. He had two tackles.
03:53 So a lot of these things are headline grabbers, but that doesn't mean a lot of them are worthy
03:57 of being headlines. Whether the Cowboys do something or they don't do something, they
04:01 are. It's a headline.
