00:00 the storm.
00:01 We'll be right back.
00:02 [MUSIC]
00:03 >> Some rough and tough weather in Florida over the next couple of days.
00:08 And we are looking at the possibility of flooding rain as we move into the weekend.
00:12 But before then, we have some challenges over the next couple of days.
00:17 Big area of high pressure building in across the mid-Atlantic states on the southern side
00:21 of that high.
00:22 Clockwise winds around highs.
00:23 We're going to have some gusty winds out of the east-northeast over the next couple of
00:26 days in Florida, which means we're going to be looking at rough surf, rip currents.
00:31 There will be some beach erosion as well.
00:34 And during times of high tide, we can probably see some coastal flooding here.
00:38 So keep that in mind.
00:40 Now boaters, boy, the best place is to be in dock here over the next couple of days
00:45 because those winds and those waves are going to be rough and tough.
00:48 Also beachgoers here, listen, you want to stick your toes in the water, that's fine.
00:52 Don't go too far deep out in the water because of those rip currents.
00:56 Again, they could have some major problems here over the next couple of days.
01:00 Now watch yourself this afternoon across Florida.
01:03 We have a lot of tropical moisture coming.
01:05 There's a little piece of energy rotating across north Florida that's bringing all this
01:09 tropical moisture northward.
01:11 Look at the dark green showing you that the atmosphere is saturated.
01:14 With that, I think we're going to be looking at some showers and thunderstorms as we go
01:18 through the afternoon.
01:19 There they go.
01:20 Now, listen, I'm not looking at widespread heavy rain, but boy, anywhere from Fort Lauderdale
01:24 on south toward Miami, Florida, I think you've got to worry about some locally heavy rain
01:30 as we go through this afternoon and this evening.
01:32 There can be some flash flooding.
01:34 This front's going to kind of stay here the next day or two.
01:37 I'm not looking for a whole lot in the way of thunderstorms Thursday, Friday, but then
01:41 that will change as we head toward the weekend.
01:43 AccuWeather says 75 in Tampa, 74 in Daytona today.
01:47 And again, from West Palm Beach toward Miami, there's going to be some drenching thunderstorms
01:51 as we move through the afternoon hours.
01:53 Now, here comes that upper low.
01:55 Texas on Friday, Saturday, there's its location, and that's going to move right across Florida
02:01 Saturday, Saturday night, and into Sunday.
02:05 Look at future rainfall.
02:06 This is a few, if not several inches of rain, so it's a large area of rain with embedded
02:10 thunderstorms.
02:11 I think there's going to be some flooding and certainly some travel delays, and those
02:16 thunderstorms, I'm worried about spotty severe weather, and that will include the threat
02:21 for isolated tornadoes.
02:22 [Sigh]
02:23 [Silence]
