00:00 First thing I've got to give Tyler Van Dyke his props.
00:03 Rudy, I don't know if he has a future in Miami after this game because you know he might
00:09 be in the transfer portal when it opens on December 4th or he might decide to run it
00:14 back for another season.
00:16 I don't know if he'll be available for the bowl game or not, but I gotta say Van Dyke,
00:21 you know, we've criticized him on this channel, rightfully so throughout the year.
00:24 He took his lumps.
00:25 He had some awful games in the middle of the season.
00:29 The way Van Dyke has responded since being benched against Florida State gets the start
00:34 against Louisville last week.
00:35 He was not the reason Miami lost that game.
00:37 Had over 300 yards, a touchdown pass, no interceptions, and he followed it up with another nice performance
00:43 against Boston College.
00:44 Van Dyke goes 23 for 36 today.
00:47 290 yards, two touchdowns, once again zero interceptions, and that was just these last
00:53 couple of weeks, but especially today because Miami got the dub.
00:57 Heavy language, smile on his face.
01:00 It's a version of TBD we hadn't seen since September.
01:04 Yeah, kind of wrap up the regular season for him with a pretty little bow for today's performance.
01:09 I mean, you saw almost a little bit of Tyler Van Dyke's season in the entire game.
01:16 There were some parts where he looked really, really good.
01:19 There's really great decision making, some moving around, the most mobile we've seen
01:22 him since his games against Texas A&M and Temple, but then there were obviously a couple
01:28 mistakes too.
01:29 Some kind of wide open guys that you probably can, if you have your feet set, you can throw
01:32 to.
01:33 There was that goal line possession with Colby Young, just kind of wide open on that little
01:37 scrub route.
01:38 Just go, "What are you doing?"
01:40 But the way he responded from some of the mistakes was really what was, put a smile
01:45 on my face, was watching that missed exchange with AJ Allen.
01:49 Obviously he missed a lot of time this year too.
01:51 And then them coming back out the next position, defense gives up the touchdown and they just
01:55 run it down their throat again.
01:57 It was nice to see that they didn't let mistakes hurt them more than just that immediate moment
02:02 in the game.
02:04 This has been talked about a lot.
02:07 Everyone I follow on X has been bringing this up.
02:11 Game plan wise, play calling wise, I thought this was the best Shannon Dawson has done
02:16 all season long.
02:17 It was like Miami's offense was so good and so fluid today.
02:21 I was watching the game with my father and my father was, whatever happiness he had for
02:27 Miami playing well was outweighed by his anger that they hadn't been calling plays like this
02:33 all season.
02:34 My dad kept saying, "Where has this been all season?
02:38 Where has this been all year?"
02:40 For everyone who's been wondering, where's the motion?
02:43 Where are the end arounds?
02:44 Where are the trick plays?
02:45 We got a little bit of everything in this game from the Miami offense.
02:49 It was really funny to hear Dan Mullen on the commentary say, "Oh look, the guy's in
02:54 motion.
02:55 They're running man coverage or, oh, it's a zone.
02:57 Let's see what Tyler does."
02:58 We're sitting there going, "Yeah, we know, Dan.
03:00 We were waiting for this all year long.
03:03 I was waiting for it in the NC State pregame show that we did."
03:05 Saying, "Use that pre-snap motion to determine what the defense is.
03:09 You know your read after that."
03:11 It was one of those where, yes.
03:13 Did you know that we had tight ends on the team?
03:15 I had forgotten.
03:17 It's not like they played great today, but they did.
03:20 They caught two balls a piece.
03:21 Cam McCormick had two catches.
03:23 Riley Williams, who by the way, Riley Williams has a very bright future.
03:26 I don't want anyone to judge his true freshman year and say that's what he's going to be.
03:30 Riley Williams, watch that guy at IMG Academy.
03:32 He is a stud.
03:34 Yeah.
03:35 Just regardless of the number of catches they made, you saw them being targeted a lot more.
03:41 You're seeing some of these different pieces.
03:42 There were some formations that I thought during the NC State game or during the Louisville
03:47 game, I'm seeing them set up right there on the end of the line.
03:50 I'm going, "OK, chip and a seam route and this guy's going to be wide open and this
03:54 never got targeted."
03:55 I don't know if that's Tyler's maturity in the last couple of games of finding them more
04:00 and looking for them instead of trying to take a deep shot or they're just being more
04:04 featured in the offense now.
04:05 I don't think you could put that on Shannon Dawson.
04:07 I think this was the perfect symphony of his play calling being executed the way that you
04:13 hope because there were so many things between a couple of wheel routes.
04:17 Didn't go Miami's way, but they were in motion trying to block for them or the tight ends
04:21 coming out or watching a couple of routes that were crossing, not like scrub routes,
04:26 but there's just a few spaces that you go, "Oh, they're exploiting holes in the defense.
04:30 This is great."
04:31 Those fourth down conversions where it's just an option route and because you have such
04:34 a veteran like Xavier Restrepo, you can complain about him being targeted too much, but then
04:39 when you have coverages like that where, "Hey, he knows the open hole in the defense.
04:44 Just toss it up."
04:45 It's an inexperienced defensive back.
04:46 Boston College's secondary was marred with injuries, so you knew they were going to be
04:49 a little shallow there in terms of they're not going to have a lot of depth.
04:53 He made his guy look foolish multiple times.
